'X Factor:' The live blog

10:00 p.m. – Thus ends the first night of "X Factor."

So what did we think? Was it worth the wait? Are you in for the season, or is it too soon to tell?

Sound off!

9:55 p.m. – Nice touch having the whole family and Jillian's friends rush the stage after she made it. Even Simon got emotional during the judging. We co-sign Demi, who says to him, "Oh, you have a heart!"

9:50 p.m. – Oh, Jillian. We wept with you over how you were bullied. She sings a Jessie J song, "Who You Are," in a lower key than the original, which is pretty impressive.

Jillian gets emotional and so does Demi, who goes up on stage to hold her. Awww man, we didn't come here for this much emotion!

9:43 p.m. – From Chad: "Britney's boobs! Ahhhhhhh!"

She is looking amazing in that red dress. All of the judges seem to be vibing well so far.

9:35 p.m. – Jennel Garcia, you had us when you said you liked Pat Benatar. We love this feisty 18-year-old. She gives a surprisingly fierce and confident performance of Grace Potter and the Nocturnals “Paris (Ooh La La).” Demi wrote down in her notes, "Hot."

Well, OK, then.

9:25 p.m. – Don Philip sang a duet with Britney 10 years ago. Tonight, he sings "Halo" by Beyonce, and we are almost sure he has some of the words wrong. And he sounds really rough.

Britney tries to be nice about it, but she has to break the bad news to him that he doesn't have it. Poor Don is devastated and it is so rough to watch. He sobs "I'm so sorry Britney" backstage. Wow.

9:15 p.m. Finally! I already forgot their names, but the boy band kids were fun.

Everyone loved them - especially Demi. My friend Chad is tweeting his little heart out and has dubbed Demi as "thirsty." Did I mention he loves Britney Spears?

9:10 p.m. – Vincent Thomas, formerly of some unnamed boy band, has the look but not the chops. I hope a CW show picks him up or something. Are you listening, "Gossip Girl"?

9:00 p.m. – The male cake decorator whose name I will not even attempt is wearing a veil, fishnets, high heels and fuchsia lipstick. He "sings" Gaga's "Born This Way."

That's all I am going to say about that.

8:48 p.m. – Kaylee Kaci, who says she is a combo of Adele and Carrie Underwood?

No.

The minute someone says they take songs and make them their own, you know there will be trouble. Britney's face is priceless when Kaylee Kaci starts singing Katy Perry's "Firework."

Simon said she sounded like she was dying.

8:38 p.m. – Reed is a baby Bieber, though the 13-year-old says he doesn't want to fall into that "Bieber stereotype." His version of Bruno Mars' "Grenade" was weak for me, but he still gets voted through - cute wins again!

8:26 p.m. – "And everyone thinks I'm the mean one," says Simon after we get a taste of catty Britney via some great editing. Yep, I'm here for it.

8:18 p.m. – Full disclosure: Chad cranked the volume up as soon as he heard the words "Mary J. Blige" and "I'm Going Down." Paige is trying really hard to belt it. She looks great and L.A. Reid seems like he's really feeling it. He compares her to Rihanna.

Not sure I would go that far.

8:10 p.m.  – Do we already have a mean girls alert? I feel like these contestants Kaci and Kaylee are throwing shade at the first contestant, Paige. Funny that Paige remembers listening to Britney when Paige was a little girl. Paige's 3-year-old daughter is so cute!

8:07 p.m. – Yes! This intro is EVERYTHING!

Love, love, love that they started in Austin, Texas, home of the SXSW festival. Britney looks amazing! Demi is cute too. Sorry, it's gonna be like that.

Simon is already being Simon with the "girls."

8:00 p.m. – *Screech*

We've arrived at what we have been waiting months for: the debut of season 2 of "X Factor." Can we all just admit that we are anxious to see one Ms. Britney Jean Spears serve as a new judge along with Demi Lovato?

I'm watching with my friend Chad, who may be the biggest Britney fan in the world (as long as you don't factor in this guy). He has his fingers crossed that she looks amazing. Are you ready? Let's roll!

Cash for cars is our business. Junk cars are a nuisance and an eyesore. In some cases they can cost you money: if your county wants you to keep them registered and insured regardless of if they run or not, or fine you for not moving them. Getting cash for junk cars is a perfect solution to this problem.

We buy junk cars including, all years, makes and models in any condition. Wrecked cars, junk cars, damaged cars for sale, and even crashed cars for sale are of interest to junk car buyers. Yes, we buy wrecked cars; and more importantly you junk a car with us, junk car removal is included free of charge, provided it is local junk car removal. You do not pay us one cent instead we take your junk car for cash paid on the spot.

I totally agree.....where is the show that actually "highlights" singing? It is the "Voice". We know that LA Reid isn't interested in the best singer...just the youngest new talent.

Can someone tell me when Brittany Spears, Demi or LA Reid were ever the BEST singers????? Not....and they have made it hugely clear, they are willing to compromise quality for the "IT FACTOR". Maybe after Simon comes up short this SEASON he will get cancelled. Then it will be down to American Idol and The Voice.

What are you thinking!!!! Brittany Spears is the worst judge I have ever seen. You wasted alot of money. She barely says anything. I could have my dog bark better comments!!!!!! Simon, get with it, you have to get rid of Brittany NOW!!! I never thought she had any talent anyway, just a cute girl with a bad voice, when she sang happy birthday to L.A. that proved it. Demi, has a cute laugh but she is not much of a judge either, my Gosh you idiots bringing in big names just for the ratings. Get some people that can really judge. I watched the first 3 episodes and thats enough, am not gonna watch this crap anymore. Good luck!!!!!! Get rid of Brittany quick she sucks!!!!!!!

      OOOOHHHH roger I so agree~
I know that you remember that Simon told Clay Aiken and Jennifer Hudson that they had little to NO commercial talent. I guess he has been wrong?

Maybe it's time that we as Americans stop listening to an over stuffed judge from the UK that thinks he judges world talent.

Well he can't get judges like Barbara Streisand, Andrea Bocelli, Steve Perry (the list is endless truly) Hopefully this season his network will cancel him.

hmmm....that's rather interesting. I have always been a big fan of Britney's and she seems to be cleaning up her act and personal life recently. She's been through a lot and she got into the music and entertainment industry at such a young age. I was really shocked to hear how much she hates Demi Lovato! I wonder how the X Factor is going to get by this season. http://gossip-celebrity.net/index.php/britney-spears-hates-demi-lovato/

Brittney Spears is not a good judge. She seems like a heartless person. Mind yuo, I don't kow her personally. She should have at least gone and talked to the guy she did the duet with. I don't think her reponse to him was nice or kind in the least. It's obvious he has had problems and most likely is still having problems. I would have gone and given the guy a hug and given him a few words of encouragement. Maybe some advice on how he can improve. Then there was a guy on night #2 that people are calling a stalker. I think he's probably just a major Brittney fan. She was horrible to him. She said one word to him and made faces at him. Some niceness could go a lon way and she doesn't seem to have much nice in her. At the very leas she should have thanked him for the flowers. She is starting to make Simon look nice. Very disappointing. I can't imagine her being a good mentor to anyone that she ends up coaching. Demi is okay but I know very little about her. I'm not sure she is old enough or experienced enough to be on the show. II didn't like the show last season and I'm only watching the auditions in hopes of seeing someone that I've seen on tour that has a fantastic voice.

What do I think? Well, at 30-something, Britney is washed up, not only physically but her "career". She has become a train wreck. Demi(God) Levato? She ought to go back to cutting herself. When she starts making remarks about how the guy onstage,"Makes me uncomfortable..." Deal with it, honey. He's a person, too, just like YOU!
And Demi, honey, do you ALWAYS get your way? Do you NEVER confront things that aren't pretty? Wow, grow-up, Demi.

The Voice shld b about the Singer not the coaches? American Idol & X Factor have unknowns sing & get record deals go on tou, make stars & do what the show says its going to do. Winners of the voice have no contracts & go back to their day jobs. The voice next season are goin 2b without Christina & CeeLo. TV is grt because u & I can have choices to watch the shows that we want.

I was surprised how addictive the show was last night. The judges were better than I expected and the contestants’ stories were very intriguing. I’m glad I turned on the PrimeTime Any Time feature on my Hopper before last night. Now my DVR records three hours of primetime coverage on the big four networks. A coworker at Dish told me about this feature and I’ll watch a few of the shows that were on during The X-Factor. The sneak peek to future episodes made me wonder what the guy did to get escorted out by the police.

Seriously, why waste any time watching or discussing this when there is so many better shows (on HBO) to watch? Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones, Bill Maher etc. People should go back and watch The Sopranos, Deadwood, The Wire and Oz again. (especially if you missed them) These shows are infinitely better than any of this broadcast television drivel. We are grown ups now – time to watch grown up shows – enough with this mindless garbage that treats it's viewership like the hoopleheads they (often) are.

Thank you for that big comment. While going through chemotherapy I tend to tape alot of shows on television.

The ones that have singing I like to watch/listen to and fast forward through background history/judges. But the HBO shows like Dexter, etc., I love watching. Takes my mind off the cancer....as you actually have to pay attention. Oz, Six Feet Under, etc., are probably some of the most well written shows in television history.

Over produced. We saw more of the judges than the contestants. Lots of produced "private moments" backstage with judges and product placements. I don't really like the karaoke (background music) style audition. Wish they got more seasoned judges like Gwen Stfani or Janet Jackson, ones who know all sides of the business and who had careers that lasted. Probably will not watch again.

The whole XFactor show is terrible, who told Simon that having Britney and Demi will improve the show, on the contrary this show sucks, what makes me sick is to see these judges ( L.A. Reid it the only one who gives smart advice) Britney, Demi and Simon concentrate only in the physical look and not in the talent, it is a waste of time. One example is the man who showed up in a white weedding dress, he was disgusting and the only one who had the guts to say no was L.A.Reid, the other idiots gave him the thumbs up, wow. I will not be surprised is Britney stars acting crazy, better she continue taking her medications. Demi is full of herself and think she is cute and acts like an idiot.

I watched the X Factor last night and perhaps will be the last time i do so. The show is so mediocre, same old, same old, the contestans are the worse, with few exceptions . Britney and Demi Lovato are two good for nothing judges, do not have an intelligent comment other that 'I love you' , or 'you look georgeous', nothing to do with the contestan's talent.
Ablout Simon, he is so full of himselve, can not stop chewing candy or something . The whole show dissapointed me. I prefer to watch The Voice, at least the judges know their job. I am afraid that Britney any time will have a break down and take off her cloth, she is crazy.

There is a huge difference between the X-Factor and the Voice~
Look at the judges on the Voice...when they give a criticism they often show the contenders how to sing a note? Compare the judges voices on "The Voice" to the judges on "X-Factor".
Let's all judge shall we? Christina Aguilerra vs Britney Spears? (your choice)
Mr. L A Reid vs. Celo Green?l (fair because we know Reid doesn't actually sing)
Blake Shelton versus Demi Lovato????? YOU tell me....
The biggest match up...Simon Cowell versus one of the most talented people in music.... Adam Levine

The audience looks like the geriatric ward. Britney is much hotter than her hair and make up staff are allowing. The guy who "knew" Britney seemed like a bad actor. I just didn't buy it. The gal who sang in the end who was bullied was amazing and truly the only honest moment of the premier. Don Philip should have been given another shot I think his song choice was bad and led him astray. I think Brittney was comparing the old Don Philip with the new. yes people's voices change if you listen to one of brittney's songs now and compare to her first album you would notice a big difference to. The only difference between brittney and Don is we didn't see the evalution of his voice. If we had never herd her after 10 years we would think she isn't the same either. I listened on amazon.com don philip's last cd 2011 and he's not bad. not a top charter but not bad. if she would have taken him under her wing and taken him to boot camp she would have made him very nicely polished. I'd like to see him again...anyone else agree?

I'm disappointed in the show. It was SLOW, somewhat like watching paint dry. I'll tape it tomorrow night so I can skip the ads. The judges were all fine. I was pleasantly surprised by that, but there was nothing outstanding about them. Maybe later. If the show has this much filler tomorrow night, I'll probably stop watching until it goes live or they reduce the contestants, at least. I'd much prefer to watch The Voice blind auditions, but I found that show not that great after those were over. Loved XFactor last year, but ugh, this was excruciating.

Janelle Garcia rocked, really liked her. Lol, except for the hair flippin' thing she did! As for Jillian...someone should have told me I'd need a tissue for her. She did ok for singing & crying at the same time. Anxious to see how she does later!

I highly doubt anyone really cares, but those two blondes actually graduated from the same class as my sister. While they were portrayed a little bit harsher than usual, it wasn't too far off, especially from the older sister. Their mom though is super nice, unfortunately, there are 4 daughters, and all of them act just about the same.

Why is Brittney chewing all the time? She needs a better make up artist. I like her 1000% over J.Lo but she has to loosen up, stop chewing and explain why " it's a no from me"

Can you slow down with all the Britney Shots? I think she is fine but I would like equal coverage of all the judges. This is after all X Factor, not Britney Factor. Lose the Britney cam please.
