Kristin Chenoweth explains set injury

A recuperating Kristin Chenoweth kept a smile and a light-hearted tone on "Live! With Kelly & Michael" Friday as she described the injuries she recently suffered while filming "The Good Wife," but that didn't make the incident sound any less frightening.

Chatting with Kelly Ripa and new co-host Michael Strahan, Chenoweth described the incident that sent her to the hospital on July 11.

"Basically, a big lighting thing ... fell and hit me ... knocked me in the face and then slammed me down to the ground," the 44-year-old actress explained. "We were shooting outside for 'The Good Wife' and the back of my head got hit on a curb. So I was out cold."

The one upside, she noted, was that she knocked out quickly enough to be unaware of what had just happened.

"I lost an earring and a shoe, it flew off, and I don't know where those are today. I know that I was wearing my outfit from 'The Good Wife,' and I think I might've stayed in it a couple days. They gave it to me, which I thought was nice," she joked. "I woke up to the EMT workers, and ['Good Wife' actor] Josh Charles - who was in the scene with me but luckily not *in* the scene - was holding my hand. He's my angel."

Naming her injuries, she revealed that she has "a skull fracture, and a rib issue and a neck issue and a hip issue," adding with a laugh, "I'm just issue ridden! But I'm getting better and I wear my neck brace on and off. But this [the skull fracture] is healing."

The accident has not only caused her departure from "The Good Wife" for the time being so she can recover, but it also took a toll on her speech and ability to multi-task. But "that's getting better," she said, noting that although she is still recuperating, she's "doing so much better than I was."

"I just feel so blessed and lucky and grateful, because it could've been a lot worse," she told the two "Live!" hosts. "For those people who sent me prayers and well-wishes, I want everyone to know that I could really feel that. I could feel it."

Its like you read my mind! You seem to understand so much about this, like you wrote the e book in it or something. I believe that you simply can do with a few percent to pressure the message home a little bit, but instead of that, that is great blog. A great read. I will certainly be back.

Her huge head and bulbous forehead are what must have kept her from further brain damage.

I hope the network is picking up the tab for her medical bills. Yes, it was an accident but it was a workplace accident.

Kristin has been in my thoughts and prayers since this accident happened and it was a complete delight to see her this morning on Kelly and Michael's show. When he picked them both up in his arms like two little girls, my heart jumped because she is so tiny and I would have been scared to death that something might have damaged her further. She is a total joy to watch and so many people think the world of her. Glad she could feel all our good wishes for her recovery being sent! Continued healing Kristin – you are very much loved by so many people. God Bless you.
