Eva Longoria has a message for the GOP

Actress Eva Longoria is more than just an actress.

The former "Desperate Housewives" star is serving as a national co-chair for President Obama's re-election campaign, and she'll address delegates tonight at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Wednesday night, Longoria spoke with CNN's Piers Morgan about why she's chosen to be politically active. Watch the above video to hear why she's concerned about the Republican Party's stance on abortion.

    Of course celebrities are real people and have a right to their own opinion. But make no mistake; celebrities are only given access to the microphone because their sponsor wants their admirers to FOLLOW. Eva is a nice person but not considered by most to be an intellectual. Her sponsors are hoping that her Desperate Housewives fans will follow her to the voting booth. It is too bad Evis is dead; otherwise they would be asking him to speak on their behalf. Given the comments online; the majority of people don't have a clue and will follow anyone's opinion to the voting booth. Rush has his "blind mice"; and so does Eva, etc. Look at the mess we are in when only a few have so many eager to follow !

Every other country likes and supports Obama and will see us a bunch of fools for electing Romney much as they did for re-electing George W. Bush. As for Romney's stance on abortion, it doesn't matter what he says now as he's proven before he'll say whatever gets votes.     If you don't want to get pregnant, one or the other needs to use protection. If not that, keep your legs closed. And seeing as how Romney has stated he supports abortion in the cases of rape, incest and health of the mother, why did Morgan lie? So what he said a couple of years ago he didn't. When he did say he didn't support abortion everybody wanted him to change his mind, so now he's changed his mind. The same people who wanted him to change his mind are still vilifying him. Then I went to college, got my undergrad in Economics, and eventually got a Master's in Business Adminstration. No educated person with a fundamental understanding of how economics works could possibly espouse the socialism and government redistribution of wealth and capital proferred by the democrats.

      Hmmm, not sure which school of economics you attended, but it doesn't bode well for American Education Standards. If in 1983, the median yearly income for a 1% was almost 10 Million dollars and the median household income was yearly $ 73,000 dollars...and 20 something years later, the median yearly income for a 1%-er is now over 16Million dollars and the median household income is around $ 59,000 dollars.....then it's pure arithmetic that tells you that "trickled down" economics doesn't work. Just earlier this year the median income in Canada surpassed the American median household income (hmmm, they have higher taxes, universal health care, less poverty, less crime, better education, etc.)....So how can you come to the conclusion that "socialist redistribution" does not work?? By the way, we call it old-fashioned taking care of your community, based on christian-jewish and moral standards. Coming from Western Europe (Holland), I'm appalled by the extreme poverty in the US (google child poverty rate) that I have seen with my own eyes, where seniors – the ones that fought for your freedom- are eating cat food because that's all they can afford after paying for their meds. When I walked into an American supermarket I had to read a sign twice to convince myself that it really said it was trying to "stump out hunger" for AMERICAN citizens (not for some far away peoples in Africa!!), I was absolutely horrified. This type of hunger and poverty is unheard of in Western Europe...yeah those countries where they have the highest taxes, the least poverty and the highest educational standards). America is a great country, and I took care of an American wife, American kids and American grandkids, but the poverty levels are off the charts and unacceptable anywhere you'd go in Western or Northern Europe. When I proclaimed wanting to become an American citizen (out of practical reasons), a banker friend in HOlland asked me: Why on earth would you want to do that?? Despite paying somewhere over % 60% income tax, he and most others in Holland felt that we shouldn't get "American" situations in Western Europe (no high poverty, high crimes, low education participation, a health care system that kicks you out when you get sick – that's just a pervsion in itself. The only thing I admire the GOP for, is that they manage to sell the "trickle-down" vision to almost half of the US, where it makes logically and arithmetically, no sense whatsoever. But then again, they also want to abolish Darwinism and science, still discriminate against women and gay people, wage already lost wars against Drugs and whatever does not sound like 19th century dogmas. If you can do that, you can sell lemons as if they were gold bars, especially if you throw in a seemingly endless stream of funds. But as Winston Churchill once said: you can count on the Americans to do the right thing.....after all other options have been exhausted.......now hopefully, the American people will come to their senses and just follow basic arithmetic.

Like a smoker – our actors in the economy will use all the resources available to them without regard for future generations. Without restraint our corporate masters will consume our Earth in a few more decades leaving rubble for our grandchildren.       If a robber kills a pregnant woman and the baby also dies, the robber can be charged with TWO murders.
      So one part of US law recognizes a fetus as a person but Roe vs Wade does not. HMM curious.

      Morgan- incorrect. The fetus must take a breath outside the mother's body to be considered alive in most states–which means, if the woman was pregnant and killed, there would be one murder charge. Not two.

      Q1 Is the baby (or cells in it) alive?
      Q2 Is the baby in the womb made of human cells?
      Q3 Is the baby in the womb having UNIQUE DNA, not found in any other human being?
      Q4 Is it true that the baby is not hurting anyone?

      If you answer YES to all four then it is a unique living human being. Note that this does not apply to any case where the mom's life/ health is in danger or psychological harm (e.g. rape or incest)

      So many things I love about Eva, but they have nothing to do with her degree in Economics, Trade or experience providing for her children. Sorry that she doesn't have any of those qualifications. She is beautiful and somewhat accomplished but still even less qualified than our current President.

The problems he will solve as president are problems that people of all races contend with each day, unemployment, declining educational systems, immigration injustices, crime, inefficient government.

    "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

    We have a right to Life, a right granted to us by our Creator, a right which our government cannot decide to take away. Our government should be protecting babies lives, and should not be allowing them to be aborted.

      Our government doesn't seem to give a care about other people's children. How many Iraqi children have died in a war that didn't need to be fought and that was started by a corrupt Republican administration under a completely false rationale. In the case of abortion, it is not the government who would abort the fetus, it is the mother who makes that decision. The abortion issue is purely one of religious belief, and those who try to oppose it are forcing their beliefs on others. Regardless of what you believe, the Republicans use it as a distraction, much the same way they use gay marriage and a very subtle racism to promote fear and capture votes from those who they don't truly represent.

      I don't consider the Catholic Church deserving of saying ANYTHING about reproductive right after spending decades, possibly centuries raping young boys because they were in a position of power to do so. As for her not having the right to speak, women do more work in this country than men. They are expected to bear children, raise a family, take care of the home and yes, work a 40 hour week.     Did anyone catch what she's happy about?

    1. Making more grants available for Spanish students to attend college.
    So is that legal citizens or illegal citizens? I'm unsure since she said Spanish students. I knew several kids in college that were of Latino decent but they were born in America and called Americans.

    2. Obama made health care available for more Spanish people so they could be covered and have health insurance.
    I ask again, are these legal or illegal, unsure since everyone born here and legal residents are called Americans, not Spanish.

    I'm all for America being good and opening its arms to people from all races in life, but I'm almost a citizen who works and pays my taxes so I can have health care and go to college. Shouldn't everyone else do the same?

    Obama, the man who wins people over by paying their way on your dollar.
