Betty White for DNC campaign keeps growingBetty White and President Obama already seem to be fairly good pals - he wished White a happy birthday earlier this year, and she later made a visit to the White House. Now, fans of the 90-year-old star are hoping she'll show up to support Obama at the Democratic National Convention. Petitioners have taken to Facebook and Change.org to encourage Dems to let the "Hot in Cleveland" actress say a few words of introduction ahead of the president on Thursday in hopes she'll surpass Clint Eastwood's chair talk at the Republican National Convention last week.
"Clint Eastwood, the Republican's 'mystery guest' at the RNC, gave a bad name to older Americans everywhere with his absurd and awkward-to-watch introduction of Governor Romney," the petition on Change.org says. "Take action today if you want to see a real [old] Hollywood icon get a political introduction right!" At the time of this post, just over 8,300 have shown their support of the Change.org petition, while the Facebook page "Bring Betty White to the DNC" has received 29,602 "likes." As of now, though, it doesn't seem that this will be a mission accomplished - White's rep told CNN over the weekend that she had no plans to be part of the convention. When we checked in on Tuesday, to see if this growing campaign could change any plans, her rep told us that White, who is currently in production on two shows, "will not be in Charlotte." Obama isn't hurting for Hollywood players, though. Actor Kal Penn of "Harold & Kumar" will host the DNC's live stream on Thursday starting at 8 p.m.:

Hey FiFi, check the numbers (official) on any .gov web site. Not sure where you live but my home has gone down in value a a much greater % in the last 2 years than the 5 years prior. Obama said he would cut the American debt in half and it is up 7,000,000,000,000,000. TRILLION Just like in your own household, you can't keep on using the credit card forever. After Clint's depressing humiliation of the aged, it would be great to see a lady in her 90's who's still sharp and funnier than ever. I think Betty White could persuade a lot of seniors (ie. Florida) not to listen to Romney/Ryan's lies re:medicare.

I find name calling infantile and useless. Look at what has occurred during the last 3.5 years and make your choice. Unemployment is over 8%, the deficit (the money America owes to CHINA) is now at $16 trillion dollars, gasoline is at an all time high. What is being done to create jobs? The stimulus did nothing. What is being done to pay down the debt. Nothing. If we don't get the debt paid down, we will become a third world country. Why was the pipeline not built? Why are we not drilling oil ? Why are we supporting terrorists with every barrel of oil that comes from South America and the middle east? We need change and I apologize to all who are in love with Obama, but he needs to go. He is unable to work with Congress and the Senate. He does not know how. Other presidents including Clinton and Reagan were able to work across party lines, so we know it can be done. President Obama tried and was unsuccessful.

You should try to get your facts right. For starters, the bulk of U.S. debt ($9.8 trillion) is owned by US citizens and the US government, not China. Second, most credible economists think the the Stimulus Bill saved or created several million jobs. Third, Obama isn't the one who has the problem working with the other side; that's the Republican's problem since their main objective (they are on the record for this) is to make sure Obama doesn't get re-elected. Don't give a fig about addressing our country's problems. Could address the other distortions in your post, but doubt you care to hear the facts.
Review your pol sci books-congress, senate and presidents office exist together for one thing alone in democratic society–so that power isn't resting with one person or one group. They're supposed to work together. Operative word here is work which Congress hasn;t done because they have only the narrowest of agenda.

Celebrities have no business influencing voters on either side of the political spectrum. Agree totally. Comedy is about one liners, immediate response and first impressions. Choosing a political candidate should be about careful thought, learning most of the issues and then deciding whom to vote for.

I would like to see Betty White with the Obama's daughters and their dog BO do a Public Service Announcement. Many families had to give up their beloved pets when they lost their homes. Currently due to the floods many animals are in need of food and shelter. There were heroic pictures of brave people saving families with their pets from the flooded areas.
that is a great idea. mom should be there too. she can mention a healthy diet isnt just for humans. i just really like the whole family, they are close and happy. its heartwarming to see a family with the values a lot of americans have.. they are way more approachable and loving then that other family.
