Randy Travis cited in simple assault caseCountry singer Randy Travis has once again had a mishap with the law. A few weeks after being arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, Travis was cited in a simple assault case Thursday after a disturbance with another man outside the Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas. (In February, Travis was found parked in front of a Baptist church with an open bottle of wine and charged with public intoxication.)
The citation falls under a class "C" simple assault, which in Texas ranges from an unwanted touch - i.e., an undesired tap on the shoulder - to a "strike that doesn't cause pain or injury," Plano police said in a statement. The police described it as relatively minor, saying it was on the same level as a speeding ticket. Police told CNN that it responded to the incident involving Travis and two others around 10:30 p.m. Thursday. Police said there had been a verbal disagreement between an estranged husband and wife, who was described as an acquaintance of the singer's, and Travis allegedly intervened. No one was arrested, and only Travis was cited, police said. Earlier Friday, TMZ described Travis as appearing to be "extremely intoxicated" and believed to be the "primary aggressor." But police said there was nothing in the report to indicate anyone was intoxicated at the scene. CNN is pursuing comment from Travis' reps.

Oh My Goodness... Someone needs to help Randy gets some help. He obviously is shouting for help, because he seems to be near or in the church parking lots...perhaps that is his way of saying HELP... I don't know, but I keep thinking about his episodes on Touch By an Angel, years ago. I hope his family will do an intervention, and find out where all this is coming from.

The article says the truck isn't used by him but was found 2 days after an assault charge in a church parking lot. Can see why his wife wanted the divorce, he seems to be getting extremely obnoxious and dangerous to himself and others with all these assaults/drunk drivings. Looks like alcoholism is taking over.
(there was a truck registered to Randy Travis but often used by one of his ranch workers found abandoned and flipped over in a field 2 days after this charge. It was probably Randy by the looks of it and he's probably lying to stop looking so irresponsible but it's not working).

I was assaulted by a woman in plano and defended myself. All she had was a cut on the lip from me pushing her off me and I was charged, not her, with "class a felony assault"!! I went to court and won, but it cost me thousands in legal fees, all because plano cops won't believe women are agressors too, and also start fights too! Plano sucks, and is full of white racist cops. Glad I left the "great white north"!

Whether your demons make you drink (and get in trouble driving around naked or getting into brawls) or fill your house with bombs and go kill a bunch of movie goers in a theater, society has a stake in getting you curbed, agreeably or not, to protect you and the public. A judge in Texas may well soon be making a decision on Travis being 573ed and put in an order of protective custody.

It truly is sad for me to see what is happening to Randy Travis. He once had a "sparkling career", and a very good following. I surmise this behavior is part and parcel of the break-up with his wife. Personally, I doubt he will find the help he needs, while intoxicated, and attending a church, no matter the affiliation. Anyone can change their life, and turn it around, no matter how difficult it may seem. "The Journey of a mile begins with One Single Step", and I know that if Randy would turn his life over, and surrender his addiction, he will have a chance for that "new life", just like all folks who made the decision to get and stay sober!

What makes us alcoholics want to get naked when we are drunk....any professional out there can answer that? The answer to your question in regard to folks who are intoxicated enjoy that walking around "naked" after they have had some alcoholic drinks is very simple. Drinking causes the brain chemicals to change, so that the inhibitions of doing crazy "stuff" come front and center to the drinker once they become intoxicated. Many an alcoholic and drug addict have been totally ashamed of themselves for behavior they displayed while drunk and under the influence. But when they go on another "bender", the behavior will repeat itself. Alcoholism is a very cunning and baffling disease. For anyone who may be interested, until you, the person, decide you have had enough of day after day after day of living as you are, due to alcohol dependence or drug dependence, you CAN become sober. But it is only YOU that can make the decision. Interventions do happen, but in the end, it is the person, who surrenders to the disease, turns it over to a Higher Power, and becomes a regular attendee of an Alcoholics Anonymous Program, along with going to a place such as the Betty Ford Clinic to seek treatment. Once a person is an alcoholic he/she will remain an alcoholic. However, he/she can get sober, and "get with the AA program", and live a very happy life, without the drugs and alcohol. In my opinion, no one will ever be cured of alcoholism or drug addiction, but they can put themselves in "recovery" and live that way ONE DAY AT A TIME for the rest of their natural life, sober and clean! I have a friend who is a walking testimony to taking that "one single step to sobriety". He has been sober and clean for twenty years! And he practices the 12 steps of AA each and every day of his life.

Something is down right wrong with Mr. Travis. He has been very successful and never any real issues. Almost overnight, he seems to have lost his way and he is making so many mistakes now. I still like him as well as his music. I truly hope that whatever has caused this sudden change can be undone. In the meantime...I will wait. He will get past this.
I think I remember when he was a teen he had some run ins with the law and alcohol as well. Sounds like he has had a major relapse. Alcoholism is a disease and I certainly hope someone can intervene and Randy will listen before it really is too late and he seriously hurts himself or even worse someone else. Pray for him to get past this very low point in his life.
What's happening to Randy is, he now has no one controlling his life..
What people don't know is that Lib, his ex-wife had been controlling him every since he was in his teens.
She got guardianship over him at that time, and he moved in with her and her husband who was a local C&W disc jockey in Charlotte N.C.
Not long after Randy moved in, the husband moved out.
Her and Randy did Marry some years latter.
She was the manager of the original Country City Night Club in Charlotte N.C.
She has always maintained some sort of control over him.
Plus there was a large age difference between them.
Finally he had enough, and I suspect that is one of the reasons they divorced.
Now that she doesn't have control anymore,
Randy is having a hard time adjusting to his independence.
I hope he gets help and gets his life back together again.
