Overheard: Alanis Morissette open to 'Idol'

At this point, we wouldn't be shocked if "American Idol" has reached out to you, dear reader, to judge the next season's competition. This list of "maybes" just keeps growing longer.

One day it's Nick Jonas, then it's Nicki Minaj, then it's Brad Paisley or Keith Urban or Kanye West. And now, Alanis Morissette tells us that she, too, has had a conversation about sitting at that table.

While attending her Hollywood Rockwalk induction ceremony in Hollywood on Tuesday, Morissette said that she's talked about the possibility, but declined to get into details.

"Yes, I have been in conversations about it, and that's the degree to which I can share the info right now," Morissette told CNN. But, she added, she is open to the idea of being an "Idol" judge.

"I live to mentor, so my heart is much more open to the idea of that than even 10 years ago when I, perhaps, wasn't in a position to be able to offer much advice, solicited or otherwise," the singer continued. "[B]ut I love watching people and just getting really curious about what they want and what they need and what their goals are, and then I can support them. I would do it formally, for sure."

Do you think "Idol" execs should consider Morissette for a seat next to confirmed new "Idol" judge Mariah Carey? Take a look at the other stars we'd like to see join the show in the gallery above.

To 1%; What cold war decade were you afterbirthed into? The hammer and sickle?? Really! If you could read I would suggest you bone up on some political science so that you would have a chance of understanding that words like 'communist', 'socialist', 'capitalist' have very little impact these days; each nation including our own has crossed over these catch phrases with so many tire marks that they are quite blended in terms of the actual usage of the concepts. A country can greatly benefit by using the best of all these ideas and discarding the worst parts of them. But having knee jerk reactions to the words themselves is just ignorant.

I love Alanis and would love to see her on Idol... I might actually watch it, if she signs a contract to be one of the judges.

I think this is the real reason why Gene Simmons cancelled his Family Jewels show, he is going to be the new judge on Idol. Gene, Mariah and Randy?

Isn't she a known communist? What happens when she starts waving the hammer and sickle around? Anyone wailing revolutionary slogans will have an edge. If we give her an outlet then we legitimize her backward political views/values. It is inarguable that having her on the show(watched by millions of impressionable children), will shift it dangerously to the radical left.

Three women judges..that can lead ínto a catfight or two. They won't be able to talk over each other. Don't watch the show but, I would tune in to see hair extensions and nails flying off, etc. that would be awsome If we can vote ín who kícked the most a**. Wouldn't that be some roflmao moments?

I think they should randomly pick 4 teenage girls to be the judges. The show would be more fun and much better. They could have a nationwide drawing, choose 4 girls at random, pay them $100,000 each plus a college scholarship. It would be incredibly popular.
