Robert Pattinson and Jon Stewart bond over breakup ice creamIf you ever need consolation during a tough time, Jon Stewart's the guy to turn to. Not only does he provide snacks, but he also doles out some pretty sound advice. On Monday, the late night host offered the presumably cheated on Robert Pattinson solace in the form of melted Ben & Jerry's and some words of advice on "The Daily Show," and at least his efforts kept Pattinson laughing.
The interview wasn't without its awkward moments, as the elephant in the room was about the size of the "Twilight Saga" fan base. Although Pattinson's currently promoting his David Cronenberg film, "Cosmopolis," his "Daily Show" appearance was among the first to follow Kristen Stewart's admission that she'd done something to "jeopardize" her relationship with her "Twilight" co-star. (Also on Monday, Pattinson was spotted in good spirits as he walked the red carpet of the New York premiere of his new film, which will arrive in theaters Friday in select theaters.) Thankfully, Jon Stewart (smartly) smoothed the unease with a little ice cream. "Listen, the last time I had a bad breakup, Ben and Jerry['s] got me through some of the tougher times," Stewart told Pattinson. "So I thought you and I could bond over this, and talk about, 'Boy, you are better off, kick her to the curb, whateva!' " Pattinson, 26, didn't take the bait, but he did find Stewart's statement amusing, countering, "Was that an impression of yourself?" (Answer: Yes. Yes, it was.) Although Stewart assured Pattinson that they were "just a couple of gals talking," the actor never actually spoke up about whatever has been going on in his personal life lately. He attributed it to a lack of proper preparation. "My biggest problem in my life is that I'm cheap, and I didn't hire a publicist," he told Stewart. "And every awkward interview ... you know, normally actors get these things scripted." Stewart seemed well aware that there was likely a sizable portion of his audience who tuned in just to see what Pattinson would say, joking at one point after the conversation segued to "Cosmopolis" that Pattinson could go ahead and say whatever he wanted to since everyone watching for that reason had since tuned out. But the "Twilight" star never did, and Stewart alluded that he hoped the actor wouldn't have to. "When you are young and you breakup, it's powerful and it feels like the world is ending," Stewart said as Pattinson looked down with a smile. "This is the first time I have seen the world actually react that way. It's insanity. So here's my wish for you, that you get to handle your business in private, in your personal life." |

If I was Sarah Palin, I'd drive over to the nearest chemical factory and jump into a vat of hydrochloric acid.
What is wrong with you? Did anyone even mention Sarah Palin? Dude, get your anger issues worked out. Not healthy.
Good for Pattinson. He held his tongue about the breakup and kept to business of promoting new movie.
Maybe it is that English restraint that would be good for a lot of other actors to have a dose of. I read an interview last Spring or before and Stewart sounded like a 9th grade teenager with her use of langage. Lots of profanity and like, like, duh. IShowed a lot about herself in that interview and it was disappointing.
Oh i thought from the headline it was Kristen and Stewart and R. Patz bonding. what the hell?
We are intrigued at this two brilliant men.
lol @ the obama/romney debate on effin twilight star's breakup drama, when jon stewart is involved i guess the political fire cannot be contained 🙂 no one really knows the personal details & kristen is quite young & seems like she was charmed by an older sleazeballish guy who should know better. robert's also young & wisely keeping his thoughts to himself on this. it's gotta be bizarre to have to live up to the edward/bella romance in the fan's eyes, it's totally unreal but both these two are worshipped for their characters and i'm guessing that kinda pressure on a real-life relationship is hard to deal with.
oh please,,,that poor little girl, preyed upon by the "older" man, doesn't work with this
little piece of white trash.
What to say? r-pats, youre a putz. i would love to have kristen stewart be my girlfriend. even if she cheated she's worth another chance. if you cant see that, it just goes to show why i voted 4 team jacob.
So you're attracted to fugs who can't act and have a problem even opening their eyes all the way? Check the midwest I bet you find a few
Are you nuts? You never take a cheater back, no matter how sorry he/she is, PERIOD!
Dear LOL...what have you got against the midwest?
Tomorrow is a school day.Go nite nite, Ash.
I hope you experience the sickening agony that can only be gotten from someone you would die for cheating on you. Simply because you'll then become the human that you are not now.
that's just stupid. KS is not even that attractive. I'm sure this patterson guy has tons of great looking babes coming onto him all day long now that he's single again. Kick KS to the curb.
[putting on my best redneck idiot accent]
Hey everybody, I'm just like all these others who read an article about an actor being on a comedic talk show, who recently split with his actress girlfriend, and that makes me want to spew a bunch of hot air political rhetoric about either Obama or Romney! Obviously that makes me a genius!
[hopefully the not-so-subtle overtone of sarcasm and targeted insult wasn't lost on those blowhards of obviously low intelligence who can't differentiate between an entertainment story and a political debate]
too funny.
You're awesome 🙂
Lol
@Patricia – seriously?
*cough(aggot)
To the person speaking to Redneck: You really need to learn the difference between dividend income and earned income before you open your mouth. Let's say you made a million dollars and then stopped working because you had a cool mil in the bank. Would you be mad if I taxed your money at 30% the year you earned it, and next year did the same thing even though you already paid taxes on that money? The government is taxing investments at that rate, not earned income. The lower rate in dividend income is because it has already been taxed. It gets taxed at that rate every single year. B efore you blow any more steam about Romney and his tax returns, why don't you ask why Harry Reid refuses to release his returns while blowing smoke about Romney? Oh, and while you're at it, make sure you check out the LA Times' piece on Reid making a bunch of money off questionable land deals in Nevada. OPEN YOUR EYES! For the love. Some people only read stupid biased garbage that only reinforces their own narrow view of the world. Be educated and intelligent, not a friggin' parrot repeating stuff that makes no sense if you think about it for all of 3 seconds.
First of all, What does the campaign have to do with this article. Second of all, your president is not for the poor people either. He wants the people in this country to go to a health plan that isn't worth crap. The economy is worse now than it was 4 years ago.
1) Reid's not running for office, dumba.ss
2) NO 1 CURR, TAKE IT SOMEWHERE ELSE
Hey '?'
It was called 'Romneycare' first – you frickin' idiot, Romney was for it once
All you stupid people pls don't vote
Thats not how dividend taxes work. First you have to understand what a dividend is, its a portion of the companys profit paid to the investor equal to the percent of the company they own through that investment. You are not being taxed on the million you have invested, you are being taxed on the amount of the company's profit you are being paid each year.
As for the "cool million in the bank" that money is not invested, thats money in the bank, so you wouldn't be paid dividends you would be paid interest, and yes you would have to pay taxes on the interest.
Either way you are not paying taxes on the million you have already earned and paid taxes on, you are paying taxes on the money that that money is earning.
The argument with dividend taxes is that the company that is paying out the dividens has already paid corporate tax on that income, and that is where the "double taxed" argument comes from, and that is certainly up for debate.
Personally I think its the same as a payroll tax, the company you work for has paid its taxes but that doesnt mean you shouldnt get taxes taken out of your paycheck.
How is this even news we need to promote our one and only chance at a good life......obama......rich give us your money you worked for and we did nothing to earn its only fair.......do yall see how stupid that sounds?
No more stupid than Romney's tax plan that gives huge tax cuts for the rich, and makes the middle class pay more. Are you rich? I'm not. I don't want to pay anymore than I already do. If I'm paying 30%, I think the rich should pay at least that much. What did Romney pay? 13 1/2% Is that fair? Oh, I forgot about all the money he has socked away in other countries to get out of paying taxes, too. There is no fairness in the tax code, except for the rich. They can work the system, which we can't. Even LIndsay Graham came out & said the exact thing. Romney will make it even more lenient for the rich, and harder for the middle class. So I hope you are rich, cause he is not going to help the middle class.
Rob, be careful. Don't take the Lord's name in vain.
Which godda.mn Lord?
I headed to the nearest bar and found me some new stuff!
Bad idea! I hear that Rob already drinks too much as it is. I wonder if that could have contributed to breakdown of the relationship.
