'True Blood' actress: 'I feel like I was born the color of death'Deborah Ann Woll is not a vampire, but she does play one on TV. For those who don't recognize the name, you probably know her face: Woll plays teen vampire Jessica Hamby on the hit HBO series "True Blood," which is currently in its fifth season. So what is it like to portray a vampire on the small screen, and how does one prepare for such a role? Do the "True Blood" vampires really drink blood? Woll answered those questions and more when she was quizzed by CNN's "Starting Point" panel. Check out the video above and find out what she had to say! |

Deborah is hands down one of the hottest actresses on the show and she remains one of the best amongst an ever-expanding roster of unappealing and awful characters that serve no purpose whatsoever. Most of the previous posters got it completely right – too many crappy storylines and not enough focus on core characters. And when they bring back one of their strongest – Russell Edgington – they put him to such poor use that you’re left wondering why they even bothered. This last season was awful in every sense of the word. When the season ended, my overall feeling was “Ok, what’s on next.” I still don’t know if I’ll watch the show again.
Born the color of Stoopid.
Internal j1zz blasts...cant get them pregnant right? woohooooo
I bet the undead krebs suck though
I want to see some vampire chick facials
I spend more time rolling my eyes, groaning and laughing at the show now than I do enjoying it. Oh, and I'm not laughing at the parts that are *meant* to be funny... This show went downhill - fast.
Starting with season 3 the writers decided to give every single character his or her own story line. And so in a typical episode every 3 or 4 minutes the show jumps to another story line. It is incredibly annoying and feels like it is geared entirely for the ADHD crowd. So far i've counted at least a dozen story lines for this season alone! It is ridiculous and stupid. Half of these story lines could easily be discarded and would allow more time to flesh out the other, much better story lines.
Seriously, go back to the season 1 and 2 formula and the normal formula for most tv shows: have an A story line and a B story line every episode and that's it.
Totally agree. They have ruined the show now because the last couple of seasons they've tried to just have waaay too many storylines going. They should focus on a small number of QUALITY storylines rather than a dozen crappy ones.
The first two seasons of True Blood were great. Season 3 is when Alan Ball apparently decided to turn the show into his platform to advance the gay agenda and began the steep decline of the show.
What is "the gay agenda"? I've heard that expression applied to HGTV.
If you can explain it in coherent terms, I'd like to hear it.
I think the "gay agenda" (i.e., the advancement of civil rights) was in full force from the beginning of the series.
Damn those gays. Next thing you know, they'll want to sit in front of the bus and drink from our water fountains.
I have read all of the books and I find them more entertaining than the show. The show story line is really annoying the hell out of me, I may stop watching. The author is putting out the final book in 2013 and as far as I am concerned, the show should also be given the True Death!! Breaking Bad is where it's at!!
She is gorgeous! Looks amazing in lingerie!
she's a vampire!!
she's a vampire!
With all the $ex these vampires have, its hard to imagine not wanting to be one
To everyone complaining that the show has too many supes and lack of continuity, and jumping the shark: Try reading the books. They are ten times as ridiculous as the show. They've actually done a great job making the show more coherent than the complete and utter mess that the books are. The show is WAY better than the book series, which Charlaine Harris seems to be bored with.
What is a "book"?
Also, agree with Elise and TJ's comments! The show is not the same as it once was!
Love Deborah's character, Jessica in TrueBlood! I have to say though with the way the show is going lately I am not that excited anymore to watch it. Loved the 1st season the most and then the 2nd season. Bill is my favorite and I sooo hate what they are doing to his character now. :'-( Him a Sookie in the 1st and 2nd season were awesome together!! Wish it could have continued that way! 🙁
It would be really nice if the interviewers would not talk over the guest. I want to hear from her and not some forgettable talking head.
I second everything Elise had to say. Alan Ball should have stayed with what worked in the first season. Too many supes. Too many pointless and distracting storylines. The good characters – Sookie, Bill, Eric, Tara, Lafayette, etc... – have lost the aspects that made them likeable and fun. Pam is the only character that I still find fun to watch.
Jessica is one of the few characters who remains likable on this sadly fading wreck of a show. In my opinion, Alan Ball jumped the shark with TrueBlood a while ago. I really loved the first season, the second wasn't bad. After that, all downhill. Characters becoming completely different people from season to season, no continuity, increasing attempts to pursue the "shock" factor above all else. Bleah. Deborah Ann Woll is a wonderful, fresh, appealing actress. I sincerely hope her career continues to develop after TrueBlood dies the true death.
This season sucks, not in a good way either. Did not like last season either. Too many supes. Keep it vamps, please. And Luna. Please kill her. She is just awful. Needless. So many needless, pointless characters chewing up time from the authority and lilith, the only interesting story line.
i could go for a big steak.
That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
I SO WANA TOUCH HER HAMBURGERS!
I freakin LOVE her! Her character is one of my favorites!
