New 'Skyfall' trailer: What's the verdict?

With Daniel Craig's big entrance as James Bond at the Olympic opening ceremony last Friday, the full trailer for November's Bond film, "Skyfall," arrived right on time.

Movie critics and fans were buzzing Tuesday as the two-and-a-half minute clip revealed more of the plot, plus a blond Javier Bardem as the villain Silva and Ben Whishaw as Q.

We find out that a hard drive containing the identities of MI6 agents embedded in terrorist organizations was lost, and then later shared with the world via YouTube. And although Craig's 007 was off "enjoying death" early on in the trailer, before long Bond's back in business.

After all, everybody needs a hobby, Bond says, and his just happens to be "resurrection."

Time magazine notes that "with all the Bond bells and whistles on full display -  Q, gun barrels, train-roof running, sexy showers, [and] witty banter," it's safe to assume that Bond will be able to tie up M's (Judi Dench) loose ends.

Entertainment Weekly thinks the trailer also does a solid job of showing why Sam Mendes was a good choice for director. "He may have been an unorthodox choice," EW says, "but the new trailer demonstrates a great appreciation for 007's cinematic canon and the evolving action genre."

MTV relishes Bardem's appearance, suggesting that "above all, the new trailer for 'Skyfall' serves as good reminder of just how scary Javier Bardem can be."

What do you think of the new "Skyfall" clip? The movie opens November 9.

Love Craig as Bond (best since Lazenby). I had thought that they would go with a softer (maybe even humorous) tone after the past two dark entries but this trailer indicates otherwise! Looking forward to it big-time!

My wife and I are die hard James Bond fans, and we loved the last two movies. I have to say, tho, that the villians have been disappointing and unbelievable. I think adding Javier Bardem to the mix is genius, tho.
      Can't wait to see it!!!

Are you serious ? I hope you're kidding.
Connery / Brosnan and Dalton are the best Bonds.

I'm excited about this one. Looks like it will be the best of the series with Craig. Casino Royale was great and Quantum of Solace did have its moments. I love it when he lands on the train then straightens his cufflink – CLassic Bond. Kick Ass, Save the World, Never Let Them See You Bleed, and Look Good Doing It.

Another evil, blond-haired white man as a villain, how Hollywood loves them. Especially if they have money...

Note to MGM: focus the trailer more on Javier. The best Bond flicks had a villain that we despised as the audience. Who could forget Goldfinget or Odd Job or Ricard Kiel with metal grillwork. If Javier is anything close to his No Country For Old Men role.....he will be the star, not Craig.

The soundtrack for the trailer is bad... Love Daniel Craig and Javier Bardem, but this looks painfully ridiculous and boring... *sigh*

You don't have to be Sterling Archer to sense that this is going to be "EPIC!" ...but they really do give away too much in this trailer; I'll try and avoid the trailers/commercials until NOV.

If you've seen one James bond movie, you've seen them all! Let me guess (without actually having seen the trailer) there is some sort of foreign terrorist. Who is after some sort of gadget or technology. He is threatening the world with some sort of missle or bomb or maybe even disease or virus. There is some floozy chick Mr Bond will fancy and get it on with before saving the world?

Actually, sounds/looks like Bardem's character is working to weave a V for Vendetta type of campaign, instilling mistrust and disdain for the highest levels of leadership by "exposing" Mi6s involvement with terrorism cells. Bond's 'death' is Ms only out, because its the only way to keep him clean, safe, and hidden for a final fight against this supposed 'Freedom Fighter.'

Obviously you haven't watched any of the Daniel Craig series of Bond Films. First one had to do with someone handling the finances for an African warlord. Second had to do with investigating an organization that was trying to tie up one of the most important resources in the world, one that people simply cannot live without (hint: not oil.) Since they rebooted the series, Eon's been giving the villains much more realistic goals. It's not Dr. Evil telling the world's leaders to pay him "one meeelllion dollars" or he will blow up an atomic bomb someplace. Now the villains prefer to try to remain hidden behind the scenes and try to quietly acquire money and power without getting noticed.
