'Archie' will meet 'Glee' in crossover story

Archie's Riverdale crew will soon be introduced to the McKinley High kids from "Glee," Archie Comics revealed on Monday.

According to a statement, the story kicks off  "when Dilton discovers a parallel universe that’s strikingly similar to Riverdale," and the "members of the Archie gang find themselves face-to-face with another, new group of teens who often break out into song."

The four-part comic book storyline will be written by comic book writer, "Glee" scribe and "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" playwright Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, and illustrated by Dan Parent, who also worked on the crossover story "Archie meets KISS."

This moment is a long time coming, Aguirre-Sacasa said in a statement, as he's always wanted to write for Archie Comics, and "Glee" seemed like a great opportunity to do a crossover tale.

“I thought, 'Archie meets Glee' would be a great crossover since they're both set in high schools, they're both optimistic, [and] they both involve singing," he went on. "My boss Ryan [Murphy, co-creator of 'Glee'] loved the idea and that started the process."

To Archie Co-CEO Jon Goldwater, the two high school groups fit together perfectly. "This promises to be a fun story that’ll have people talking for quite some time," Goldwater said. "Roberto and Dan are the perfect superstar team to do this crossover justice.”

The story is set to arrive in 2013.

I have several Archie comics in my collection, many dating back to the 50's. Always on the lookout for even older ones. My favorite is Archie Meets the TMNT. This will not be Archie's finest moment. Archie should have nailed both Betty & Veronica, then stayed with Cheryl Blossom. Gotta love the redheads

Ok, I like Glee. But sometimes they can get really corny with the song selection. And now THE ARCHIES? No, no, no. If they start singing:
    ....And everything's Archie
    Come on let's go
    With the Archie's show

    Then I'll just throw up.

      So do I.
I thought it was the most bizarre thing in comics at the time.
      So weird....
