'Magic Mike,' Spice Girls headed for the stage

The Spice Girls are making a comeback - well, their songs are at least, thanks to a new musical coming to London's West End in December.

All five members of the '90s girl group - Melanie Brown (Scary Spice); Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice); Emma Bunton (Baby Spice); Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice); and Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice) - reunited in London Tuesday to announce the production, promising to introduce "a whole new generation to Girl Power," reports the BBC.

Called "Viva Forever!" the musical will explore the "bitter reality of fame" that stems from a TV talent show. The musical's story will center on a "beautiful, talented girl and her best friends who get swept up in the obsession of today's TV celebrity culture."

Judy Craymer, who produced the musical "Mamma Mia!," developed the idea for the show, which will be written by "Absolutely Fabulous" writer/actress Jennifer Saunders.

"We listened to Spice Girls songs for nine months nonstop," Craymer told the BBC. "Jennifer came up with a heart-warming family story that touches on celebrity today."

On this side of the pond, upcoming movie release “Magic Mike” - for all of its thong-wearing-glory - could also be headed for the stage.

If Reid Carolin - “Magic Mike” star Channing Tatum’s production partner - is to be believed, the stripper comedy is headed for Broadway.

"We are working on it as a Broadway show, which would be a different story," Carolin, who wrote the screenplay for the sexy big-screen production, told USA Today. "More of a romp, more of a fun night out at a club with a story. I'm almost more excited about that than the movie because I think it's the perfect thing for women to go see on Broadway, to be participants in the show."

And at least one of the cast members, Alex Pettyfer, has already reportedly agreed to participate.

"I would 'absolutely' do the Broadway show," he said, adding of his co-stars, "I think we should all do the opening night."

Whoa! Start saving those dollar bills, ladies!
