Keira Knightley on chemistry with co-star Steve CarellWhen "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World," you're probably going to look for one with a few "benefits." At least, that's how it plays out in Lorene Scafaria's film, which stars Keira Knightley as Penny and Steve Carell as Dodge, two neighbors who find themselves striking up an intimate relationship when faced with the doomsday scenario of an asteroid headed for Earth.
That relationship, at first, isn't really romantic, Knightley has explained. “I don't know that their romantic arc actually has much to do with romance in the beginning and more to do with 'It's the end of the world, and we both want to have sex,' " the “Pride and Prejudice” actress told MTV. "I think that was sort of more what the romantic arc was hinged on, and then what it becomes is about friendship,” she continued of the two characters, who don't speak to each other until they're forced to - you know, because the world's about to end. Not that the recently engaged actress had any trouble generating chemistry with Carell. "As far as chemistry goes with Steve, he is one of the loveliest men in the entire world," she said. "He is so funny, and so courteous to everyone. He is a consummate professional. He's just a lovely, lovely man. I defy anybody not to have good chemistry with him." The apocalyptic comedy opens this weekend.

We all have our opinions!Why do people have to be gross?Not a fan of Steve,but like KN! I am sure they have done a good job. Wish Hollywood would be more creative!
It's an excellent film. I highly recommend it. Bring a hankie.
And no, it's not a romantic comedy. Not even remotely. But it is a sweet, genuine romance, and both of them do an excellent job. For Carrell, it's another chance to show he's not just a funny man (as he did in Little Miss Sunshine.
I went to see it today & I really, really liked it. Without giving anything away I will say that it was as honest & accurate as any movie with those themes (romance, end of the world) can be. Maybe it was overblown a bit & that's marketing dept.'s fault. Don't let that discourage you from seeing a film you're gonna want to buy on DVD.

Guess you never watched the special feautures on the office? Steve had him cracking up on his only guest appearance....Steve Carell is a delight deal with it.
What a horrible movie! Total waste of time, money, and anticipation for what was sold as being a clever and hilarious Carell comedy. Offensively boring and pointless dialigue, and knightley is excruciatingly obnoxious – terrible acting! Ugh! So disappointed w carell that upon reading this "script" he didn't burn it after spitting on it!

Oh and it's not the actors fault if the movie is being marketed wrongly. I was on the fence whether to see this. But after your masty comments I am definitely going to see this film. From the reviews it's not everyone's cup of tea. The marketing department's job is to see the film. So they old it as a comedy when it's much darker. That's not Carell's fought.

I saw it last night and thought it was honest and charming. I recommend it and I would probably only recommend 25%. Of themovies ibexes see.
