Andy Samberg to star in BBC seriesAndy Samberg is skipping across the pond for his next project. The actor/comedian, who just made his exit from "Saturday Night Live" official earlier this month, has signed on to star in a new BBC sitcom called "Cuckoo."
Samberg plays the titular character, a "self-appointed spiritual ninja" who marries into a British family. Cuckoo is supposed to be as kooky as his name, an American "slacker full of outlandish, New Age ideas" who drives his wife's dad Ken, played by Brit comedian Greg Davies, up a wall. The six-part series is expected to begin production this summer to air on BBC Three later this year. Executive producer Ash Atalla has high hopes for the comedy, saying in a statement that "The best of British meets the toast of Hollywood" with this new show. "We hope 'Cuckoo' cements the special relationship between our two great countries," Atalla said. "I imagine Obama and Cameron will be watching closely." |

Great submit, very informative. I ponder why the other experts of this sector do not realize this. You should continue your writing. I am confident, you've a huge readers' base already!|What's Going down i am new to this, I stumbled upon this I have found It positively useful and it has helped me out loads. Love Greg Davies...and can totally see Sandberg as the obnoxious Yank son in law. Hope this plays on BBC America...looking forward to it!
SNL used to be legit. Too legit. Too legit to quit. But now SNL is not legit. It's unlegit. And for that reason, he must quit.
Thank you, I have just been searching for info about this subject for a long time and yours is the greatest I've discovered till now. However, what concerning the conclusion? Are you sure about the source?|What i do not realize is in truth how you're no longer really a lot more smartly-favored than you might be now. You're so intelligent.
I too picture Obama watching, what else would he be doing.
hahaha
Perhaps planning more successful covert operations against terrorists?
Good riddance; he isn't funny. Britain can keep him.
Actually he is pretty funny. I'm betting you aren't though.
"British comedy" is an oxymoron. Don't know Samberg, but do know I'll not spend that irreplaceable part of my life tuning in.
Greg Davies starred as Mr. Gilbert in the brilliant British show The Inbetweeners, can't wait to watch!
Hope he's not a writer...at the least, fortunately BBC shows don't usually run that long anyway 😛
Six and out. That's how it's done over there.
He was pretty funny. The music skits were hilarious (goes without saying). There are MANY SNL alum that no one can even remember. Tom Davis? Robin Duke? Mary Gross? At least Andy was funny enough to become famous.
Actually, I remember Mary Gross by face (after I Googled her). Just didn't know her name.
Famous? Really? Provide proof that he is actually famous. Has "Famous" become any shmuck that got a laugh or two. Is he famous like Lucy or even Gilda? How many horrible movies will he be in? "Adam eats a sammich"? He isn't talented in the least!!!
I'M AND ADULT!!!!
The British folk love his teeth. Stay tuned for something completely different, "Monty Samdberg's Flying Circus"
"Hey Goat, say hello to your mother for me..."
D..k in a Box" w/ Timberlake. Good stuff.
Comedy isn't easy. Take a look at the comments board for proof.
sour grapes. go back to your cubicle and make some calls
A BBC sitcom? What the heck man, you're an American! What, you couldn't do something in the States? I throw this idea on the ground!... J/K... Best of luck to Andy!
There's NOTHING funny about this guy, except his huge mouth!
Dude aint as funny as some make him out to be... Cheerio!
SNL is still funny, The digital shorts were hilarious.
Andy said he was leav7ng for the UK because Obama will lose and Andy said he cant s4and to see the meltdown here on November 7. eric Holder is also going as well...more on this story at 7PM...
Andy told an unamed souse
Any said he was leavin to gp to the UK because aobama
Good luck Samberg! Thanks for the creativity and humor. I defy most of the comments. I am an old, white, retired infantryman, Christian, hunter, fisherman, college professor, Bible reading father and I have been a fan of your work, from laser cats to landing a nice punch on someone before they take a bite. Like anything that lasts, there are ups and downs. Lorne is brilliant in his consistency of purpose.
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
Samberg seems to be a one trick pony for me. All his characters are the same.
Who watches SNL anymore? – That show has not been funny for about 15 years, and only sentimental dolts clinging to its long-gone glory days still bother with it. In contrast, while it has had a few duds, the BBC has a long-running track record of producing great comedy.
Not a bad career move at all.
I wondered if I was the only one who thought that show hasn't been funny AT ALL since the Farley/Sandler/Hartman days. A complete waste of air time on Saturday night, I'd rather watch porn....
If you haven't watched SNL in 15 years, how do you know it's not funny?
How do you know if the show is funny or not, since you're not watching it, right? Oh, that's right, you're just like that certain group of people out there who just read about things and make comments without actually knowing.
Sounds like a step DOWN for Andy.
For those who are raking Andy Samberg over the coals with the usual childish retorts- Until you appear on a weekly national television program, you can sit down like the child you are and wait your turn. With the way you're acting, that will be a very long time and those who don't act like you will very much enjoy your silence.
despite what people say about andy samberg not being funny on saturday night live you guys probly couldnt do any better than he did he was funny and clever at what he did in his skits in a way he brought snl back on top again. and i dont get why people thought kristen wiig was funny she wasnt she sucks and so did her skits if andy wants to branch out and try diifferent stuff why do people need to bash him for that
An interesting choice, but a terrible career move. How many SNL members left for films/TV in LA, and were never heard from again? Going to the UK may be a ploy to launch an international career, but only if you already have a robust US career going, and Samberg does not. It would have been better to work on a US series based on digital shorts, something Samberg excels at, and position other projects from there. This has "BIG MISTAKE" all over it.

Wow, only 5 comments before the hateful comments start. If you self-loathing sub-humans hate him so much, why the eff are you here with your meaningless comments??? Go crawl back under your rocks, society is better off without you.
He's not even remotely funny though.
i agree, there should be no racist remarks but your comments are pretty hate filled too so how about ignoring the ignorance rather than playing a part in it yourself?
So they are remaking Dharma and Greg?
you guys are clearly too old to be wtaching snl.
he was hands down the funniest thing on that show. his digital shorts were the best and have generated more viral hits and viewrs for SNL than any other skits they have ever done. So you guys are clealry the vocal minority.
Samberg's leaving SNL and going to the BBC? You know what they say? Once you go BBC you never go back! Best of luck laddy, say hello to the Queen Andy!!!
What, Prince Andrew is gay?
Only a 6 part series filmed over the summer, he'll be back on SNL when it starts in the fall.
Most overrated SNL cast member ever!!!
Actually that would be Jimmy Fallon
He's not that bad guys come on. His impersonation of marky mark at the zoo was funny as h3 ll!
SNL had some talent over the years, but all in all I found it to be slow and self absorbed.
He is not, nor was he ever funny on SNL. Bye bye now.
He will take his mediocre comedic ability to the BBC, & create another European stereotype of the stupid American.
It's not a stereotype – eight years of Bush is a hard memory to eradicate.
It seems almost all the actors on "American" TV/cable are British or from the Isles. Good to see an American making a dent in their world.
Good grief......whatever did we do to England to have them deserve us dumping off another unfunny SNL alum who wouldn't have lasted 1 skit with the show when it was actually entertaining?
Good! They can keep him. He's not funny.
