John Mayer 'humiliated' by Taylor Swift songAlthough Taylor Swift didn't explicitly say that her song "Dear John" is about John Mayer, it seems she was right when she guessed that she wouldn't have to. The 34-year-old singer/songwriter, who's been accused of using ex-girlfriend Jennifer Aniston as inspiration for a recent single himself, told Rolling Stone in a new interview that he was “really humiliated” by “Dear John,” which appears on Swift's 2010 album, “Speak Now.”
In it, the 22-year-old country star sings, "Dear John, I see it all, now it was wrong / Don't you think 19 is too young to be played by your dark twisted games, when I loved you so?" Mayer calls Swift’s decision to release the tune around the same time he was already taking a beating in the media for controversial comments he made about his own famous exes (among other topics) “lousy.” "It made me feel terrible," Mayer told Rolling Stone in a new issue that hits newsstands Friday. "Because I didn't deserve it. I'm pretty good at taking accountability now, and I never did anything to deserve that. It was a really lousy thing for her to do." The multiple Grammy winner says he wasn’t even aware of how Swift felt about their supposed dashed romance until he heard about the song. "I never got an e-mail. I never got a phone call," he went on. "I was really caught off-guard, and it really humiliated me at a time when I'd already been dressed down. I mean, how would you feel if, at the lowest you've ever been, someone kicked you even lower?" Mayer also refused to touch the song’s most telling lines, "Don't you think I was too young to be messed with?" "I don't want to go into that,” he told the magazine. Lyrics aside, the "Shadow Days" singer added, her song wasn’t even a good one. "I will say as a songwriter that I think it's kind of cheap songwriting," he said. "I know she's the biggest thing in the world, and I'm not trying to sink anybody's ship, but I think it's abusing your talent to rub your hands together and go, 'Wait till he gets a load of this!' I'm a fan of both Swift and Mayer. I think both are great in their own way...but when a large number of someone's songs are about being heartbroken by different people, after a while you start to think they play the victim card too much and set themselves up for the regular disappointment. I think TS is growing out of that, and hopefully continues to as she grows as a songwriter (songs like "December" show she owned some of that responsibility for messing something up-thank God).
JM seems to be very reflective in a lot of his newer stuff, as you see him try to figure out why he is the way he is...but for everyone who beats up on him, he 1.) has never been married 2.) has never shied away from the fact that he has had a tainted past 3.) has a reputation in Hollywood that these women all know he has been around the block, yet they still seem to go for him. I've seen this with people in real life. It's not only his fault but their fault also for making poor dating choices when they know how the story is going to end. No one is going to change him, only he can do that (and his new album shows he's working on it)...to all the women thinking you'll set a player striaght, you won't. This includes TS. Think about it!!!!

They are both talented; have you ever tried to write a song? Swift is full of them, and she's way young. Think of what she could write when she's forty and has seen the elephant. Mayer's a decent songwriter and a good lead guitar, and it's hard to play interesting lead guitar. They just weren't a good match.
