President Obama 'sings' 'Call Me Maybe'

Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" is so pervasive even the President's singing it.

Well, with help from BaracksDubs, which mashes President Obama's speeches with hit songs. And considering that nearly everyone on the Internet has offered their version of what may turn into the song of the summer, it makes sense that Jespen's single would find its way to the Oval Office ... even if it's by way of clever editing.

The President, of course, sees no harm in performing a little a cappella now and then, as he showcased his pipes with a bit of Al Green earlier this year.

"I can sing," he told Rolling Stone in April of his impromptu performance. "I wasn't worried about being able to hit those high notes."

We're sure that applies to Jepsen's earworm, too - think we'll ever see the President sing this one live?

The gullible think he's a rock star, so naturally they'll also think he sings like one. The problem is when they also convince them selves that he's a good president. He's not, and it's time to get someone in there who doesn't think that raising taxes and making government bigger is the answer. And by the way, George Bush could sing better.

You're aways overpaying peope to star im stupid movies anyway and this would be a huge favor to the American people. Plus he already thinks of himself as a "star"! You could call it root-a-bama!

Why not call him defeated, or even impeached. Indicted would be better yet.

Our first Affirmative Action President shows what a failure Affirmative Action is. Totally imcompetent, but there because of his skin color, not his character content. (Apologies to Dr. King, who presently spins rapidly in his grave.)

Totally incompetent but there because of his skin color: Prefect description of George Bush. Got into Yale because of his daddy, got out of Vietnam and into the Texas National Guard because of his daddy, failed at business but bailed out by his daddy and his rich friends, and elected Gov of Texas and President because the filthy rich wanted a dumb bunny who would do their bidding. Sent young people to die in a war he started but too afraid to go himself – also true of Cheney, Rumsfeld, and dozens of others in his administration. Thanks for posting.

Really? I and pretty much everyone I know voted for him because of his policies. We didn't vote for him because he is African American. His race didn't matter to us middle class Americans. Just the fact that he is fighting for us, instead of for the top 1%.

Why anyone who isn't part of the top 1% votes Republican is completely beyond me, and I would love to hear the rational reason.

      June 5, 2012 at 4:35 pm | Report abuse |
    • Mike

The incompetence comes from the Republicans who obstruct his every move, because their primary goal is not the betterment of the country, but the replacement of Obama. They hold the economy hostage by threatening default, leading to a lowering of US credit rating. They stall most of his appointments to historically unprecedented levels. They try to thwart his reforms that would help prevent an economic collapse that happened at the end of the last Republican administration. Obama has conducted himself with integrity and persistence despite these obstacles. He is in fact one of the most competent presidents in history, who unfortunately has to deal with a Congress full of clowns and extremists.

If you folks who hated Obama so much weren't so IRRATIONAL in your hate for him, you actually might mount a cohesive argument against the man. Unfortunately, some of you are such heaving lunatics, you really do drive sensible people to Obama in droves... even those of us with certain ideological differences.

Here's a hint: First acknowledge the dysfunctional, mean-spirited, disaster that is the GOP, admit its failings, then state how Obama could have overcome them AND his own failings and how Romney will do better.

    Otherwise, shut the hell up.

Humor is such a great quality in a leader to bring about change and advancement. Unfortunatly many people in the US are not laughing as they still have no jobs, see the government spending out of control, and see him using real issues as political toys. It is often said that those that should be in power do not have what it takes to get there and those that are worst to be in power have all they need to get into those positions. I hope the next President is so boring that you fall asleep at the sound of his/her voice but gets the job done right. The only arguements I hear for Obama is don't complain about him. That is no valid reason.
