Christian Bale's going to miss that Batman suitAlthough Christian Bale is happy with the way his character Bruce Wayne's story ends in this summer's "Dark Knight Rises," he is going to miss slipping into that snug Batman costume. "You know, for all the kind of discomfort, and all the heat and the sweat and the headaches and everything from it, when you sit back and watch the movie at the end of the day you end up going, 'that's f*****g cool!'" Bale told Movies.com of his alter-ego's iconic outfit. "So I will. I will miss it." As far as the extent of his interaction with Anne Hathaway's Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Bale played coy, saying that fans will just have to wait to see the movie when it arrives in theaters July 20. In the meantime, there's the latest "Dark Knight Rises" TV spot to view. It's only 30 seconds, but we'll take it! [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dcj44d3noBk&w=560&h=315] |

order this its great!
Did Batman ever cheat?
Batman excites me...
Had he been smart, he would have included keeping one of his choosing as part of his compensation 🙂
He should o down to the bar where Adam West hangs out, now there's two of them crying in their beer.
Christian Bale is hands down the best Batman/Bruce Wayne. Onl y stupid people think other wise. The voice sounds great.
Adam West is and always will be Batman; the one actor who was thankfully always aware of how ridiculous the premise is and gave every scene it's full measure of corny and stupid.
The 1960's were a very enlightened time.
yep!
Christian has the bat-height, and the bat-eyes, and came close to the bat-body, but he didn't have the bat-chin. And that voice he did to try to differentiate Bruce Wayne from the Dark Knight sounded like an asthma attack. Sorry, Chris, but a hero movie is only as good as the villains and he had a double helping of talent in the second movie with Eckhart and Ledger (RIP). Of course, I'll see the third, but Bane will not be able to follow the last act.
Rick, you underestimate the awesome acting chops of Tom Hardy.
Great movie seen it on down2load
I don't agree with anyone not liking the voice. It's perfect. IMO Bale is awesome Nolan is awesome an Goyer is awesome. As far as J GL suiting up that certainly would be interesting. But only if JGL dies and they make it seem like bale dies. I can't wait for this epic movie: and yeah they'll make a batman in the future but I'll never watch .
Michael Keaton was the best!
Best Batman = Adam West. Hands down.
Christian Bale the worst Batman? Try Gerge Clooney.
Without a doubt George was the worst Batman though Val might be a close second. In fact all the Batman movies with exception of the first one sucked up till the latest run with Bale as Batman. I think they are far better than any of the previous movies. Can't wait to see the next one; though everyone must admit it was Heath playing the Joker that made the last movie stellar, IMHumbleO...
His movies are okay....mostly smoke and fireworks. First one was so-so.....the 2nd one...Heath ledger MADE that movie! His acting in that was superb as The Joker. Batman was only ho-hum...this 3rd one??? really looking forward to seeing how Catwoman looks.....If she can beat Holly Berry than she has my vote for President!
Why are you reading articles about it? How cute, someone playing the "Too cool for school role" to get attention.
I'm just happy people FINALLY recognize that Heath did an outstanding job acting instead of saying that the movie's popularity was built up solely by his death. Its a shame we will never see what other roles he could have landed due to the success of TDK. But I think Bale was a great Batman and filled the vision we've all had of the character in modern day comics. Keaton is still the best! lol
In the early days, Batman and Robin wore leotards and tights and had their own muscles. Today, the character puts on a muscle costume. Batman lost some of his lure when he lost all his real muscle and replaced them with a fake muscle suit.
I'm having trouble seeing the muscles you refer to... Example: http://bit.ly/MY1lCl
Uh have you ever watched those old shows with Adam West? They didn't even have muscles... And as far as I'm concerned, Aaron Eckhart stole that movie with his amazing performance as Harvey Dent/Two Face. Heath Ledger was great to be sure, but I really thought that movie belonged to Eckhart.
what is the nonsense about bale not being a good actor? have you seen anything he's been in aside from batman (which he is excellent in imho) - the prestige, the fighter, american psycho, the machinist, empire of the sun, little women, etc. - other than gary oldman, he was one of the MOST underrated actors -
Now that's Bale has done his term as the Dark Knight...
When they reboot the Bat film (again...), who would make a good Bruce Wayne / Batman ? And should there be a Robin / Nightwing in the new film series ? (I smell spinoff movies ! LOL.)
Or should there be a World's Finest Team film w/ Batman & Superman teaming up (w/ few cameos from the JLA & JSA) ?
I'm thinking it's time they move on with the legend and go with the Azrael as Batman idea. Basically, when Batman can no longer do the job he asks this guy to take over for him and it's puts a sort of Iron Man-esque spin on the bat suit. Example: http://bit.ly/LGc52T
Ho humm
This is THE worst Batman trilogy. Suit is great but head piece is soo bubbly and very bad.
Batman Arkham city and Arkham asylum games have best batman suit created EVER.
Chiristian is worst Batman actor. Only good film he was actor is Equilibrium and thats it....the end.
Finally this horrible trilogy is over.
Haha, good one man.
I'm assuming this is a joke. This Batman series so far has been amazing, and I'm sure this last one will be insane. Equilibrium is like the one Christian Bale movie that's not all that great. American Psycho? The Machinist? Come on.
Nemanja,
Please stop talking about movies as if you can understand them. You are a god damn idiot.
I disagree with you 100%. This batman series is sooo much better than the old ones. I can't wait for the "Rises" movie.
IF U DONT LIKE THE TRILOGY STAY OF THIS PAGE /JACK ASS /YOU MUST BE A MARVEL FAN ,OR YOU DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT MOVIES
Burton/ Nolan captured Batman its core and the audience could relate to its legacy. This movie isnt about theatrics its about our culture, and the social and economical effects disorder and chaos can bring in a society torn by injustice. Thats what its always been about.
I have no hopes for this movie to be any good at all. As with the other Batman trilogies, the first movie is great, second is good, third one usually blows and then they reboot again.
You are.crazy Dark Knight and the Batman from when I was younger worth Arnold playing Freeze were some of the best two makes of a famous character ever. Dark kKnight was one of the best movies at that point in time matter of fact it was the best at that time and steady one of the best movies.of all time ever. I have. High hopes for this next bat man and I hope I don't get let down.
I hear your cynicism but wholeheartedly disagree. This run is very different – they kept it dark, not glitzy like the previous iterations.
Or this might be the one trilogy that the third one tops it all to end the series on a good note.
i just wish they would put those pop-up on the movie – BAM! WAM! POP!
To the "I love turtles" guy: Turtles suck. And if you don't agree with that, you are not a true American my friend.
OK ..next Batman reboot – George Clooney as Bruce Wayne – Val Kilmer ( After NutirSystem ) as Batman and Zooey Deschanel as Catwoman.
"Val Kilmer ( After NutirSystem )"
Hahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!
Christian Bale . . . such a handsome man to have such a horrible lisp. I can't watch any of his movies. Wish he'd get some speech therapy.
Stupidest thing I've ever heard.
He has a lisp? I never heard him have anything resembling a lisp.
Lisp? What it might be is that Christian is actually not American, so he has to force out the american english accent, and maybe that is what you are hearing.
You guys are nuts. George Clooney was the best Batman hands down. I'm surprised he didn't star in this Trilogy as well.
Please be kidding!
I agree with you. Clooney was the best Batman out of the seven movies. Bale is ridiculous. He can't talk and he's not even an American.
Clooney was a good choice for both Bruce Wayne and Batman. Now if we could only get a less flamboyant director...than Richard Donner ...with no agendas or ax's to grind.
Richard Donner didn't direct Batman & Robin, Joel Schumacher did. Also, George Clooney, while a good actor in other projects, was terrible as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Also, you're all kind of idiots.
Mrs Jane Hathaway as catwoman now there is a hawtie...
agreed Bale is ok but the voice ruined it for me its stupid as hell.
I bet he does not miss that rubber suit a second...
bat guano
Who's Jane Hathaway?
Jane Hathaway was the rather thin secretary of Mr/ Drysdale on the Beverly Hillbillies – yes, her as Catwomen would be a sight i WOULDN't want to behold. kind of like Olive Oyl as the Black Canary..whoo..NO!
Jane Hatheway, captain of voyager with a back in time storyline *Holly temporal rift!*
Look the Tim Burton Batman was better than the 60s tv series but you really can't compare the 1989 version as good as it was to todays version of it.
I am going to see this movie @ least 3 times...can not wait til the 7/20
I know that's right
Woooooooow @PunchInTheface woooooooow u text way to much u lost me somewhere around warner bros or something like that i can ony imagine what ur status are on facebook...
I wish him or her the best of luck
I still believe that the third movies is suppose to be the conclusion to the batman vs joker battle. But because of that sad event, Nolan have to rewrite the movies.
Avengers > Batman
ya right.
I love Christian Bale's latest batman movie. I may have enjoyed it a little bit more than Daniel Craig's James Bond, and that's a pretty high score in my book.
89 version is epic. This series had a good edge.
Mitt romney will make a good batman! He'll be available in 6 months.
uraguay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm convinced that those of you saying this will be a terrible movie are only doing so because you just hate anything that everyone else seems to like. You're just angsty, wannabe movie critics that want to be angry about something and have the opposite opinion of everyone else. Stop being so emo.
+1, nobody likes an anti-conformist (who of course conforms with all the non-conformists) emo.
If you look closely at some of the shots of Batman in the the long trailer, you can tell it's Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the Batsuit. just look at the lips and you can see the distinction between Bale and JGL.
Best Bale Batman impersonation goes to Wolowitz on Big Bang Theory, Agreed that the raspy Batman voice is just annoying and borders on silly. Best Catwoman ever, Julie Newmar without question. Ms Hathaway looks great in the skin tight suit, but thanks for the mask... Reminds me of a 1940s novelty song, "Turn Your Head Little Darlin, I Can Still See Your Face!". Michael Keaton surprised everyone how good he was as Batman. His Bruce Wayne was more Everyman than biliionaire, but he pulled it off.. If Batman is killed off, better that it's while he's played by Bale.
Keaton was a terrible Batman. Jack Nicholeson pulled that first movie off not Keaton. When that movie came out people were saying it should have been call "The Joker" There was one scene where Keaton was running down the street next to Kim Basinger and he was shorter then she was. He looked like a little kid in that suit. The second movie was more about Cat Women then Batman it was a quarter scraper and he didn't do another one after that thankfully. You look at those movies today and they are silly in comparison.
This film is going to be freaking EPIC!
I must be honest: I am almost certain this will not be the last. It will be the last for now...for many years. I still think the public is waiting for a realistic version of 'Beyond'...I think Nolan is the only one who can pull it off since his trilogy would be the best adaptation to work with for a continuation of Batman. I can see Warner Brothers trying to get him on the script if they decide so.
Let's not act like this is going to be the last Batman film. We know Hollywood. It's not. Though, the days of the same are over. Nolan's version was viewed favorably because there was realistic addition of depth to a storyline that was not yet seen on screen, and that is why it was so successful. The only way Batman will be as successful as Nolan's Batman will be if Warner Brothers decides to move forward from the successful storyline of Nolan's version. No one can say for sure they know how 'Rises' will end. With Nolan, you cannot even rule out Batman's death; but I do say, it seems appropriate to, at least, begin going down the road of 'Beyond' after the third of this trilogy hits theatres. Start anew through a continuation of the old. Don't start over.
Warner Bros. already indicated they plan to reboot after Dark Knight Rises. Maybe that'll change, but Nolan also said he ended it in a way that would be very difficult for any other director to piggyback off his trilogy.
Well Ibod...you're right. Since Warner Bros has already said they're looking to reboot the franchise with Bale and Nolan stepping aside, I would completely agree with you. But, fat chance anyone will have the ability to make a Batman trilogy better than this has turned out to be.
I'm in agreement about the voice and after the second movie my friends and I are seeing the third one simply for comedic purposes. His silly affectation is too funny to ignore. I don't know if it was Bale's or Nolan's idea for it but it's absolutely ridiculous and it's going to ruin it for me and a lot of other people. Thanks Nolan.
Bale is a terrible Batman. That fake raspy voice doesn't scare anyone, only in the movies. Bale does do a decent job of playing Bruce Wayne. Now, people may think I'm crazy but........Michael Keaton was the best Batman. That's Batman, not Bruce Wayne, Keaton was terrible as Bruce Wayne. If I were director. I would make a separate actor for Batman. Someone more natural grit.
Adam West was the best Batman.
Love ketchup
Mustard is better.
Half of you people don't even deserve watching the dark knight trilogy. It's not about batman at all. It's about good vs evil and so much more. Anyone could be batman. This movie has so much more depth than a simple yellow emblem. Sheesh. Take the movie at face value if u want that's fine. But the reality is this is like star wars was in the 70-80's it's more epic IMO .
Good and evil is based on one's individual perception.
Lighten up dude. It's a movie!
I like turtles
I never did really care for Bale as Batman to be honest, the smoky waitress voice yeah that's right. As good at the moment they all have hit certain points, the ultimate and real DARK Knight still has to emerge. and.......he will, .....ohhhh he will.
I really like this version of Batman ~ the Dark Knight. It seems truer to the character of Batman. Tim Burton's version of Batman was fine and I like Michael Keaton (for the first and second movies), but this series appeals to me more. And it doesn't hurt that Christian Bale is a real hottie. I don't care that his voice sounds 'like an 80 year old, chain smoking waitress' as another poster put it. Personally, I'm not really paying attention to his voice.
For those who still prefer the previous instances to the Dark night: You probably watch shrek and toy story in awe. So, give the new ones a rest, pick them up and watch them again in about, let's say, 20 years. You may get the point then.
I just wish Bale didn't have Batman sound like a 80 year chain smoking waitress.
LOL! 80 year old chain smoking waitress. Priceless!
anne hathaway catwoman.?we will see
Frank Miller ruined Batman.
Batman dies at the end so there ain't no going back.
@ God in me
Thats what she said
Hopefully the 'occupy' theme has been toned down.
i was born in '78, and i like all the Batman's except george clooney, they were all different but still good!
Otuobi
Jason Statham should play Batman. Or maybe Superman should wear the bat suit and be Superbat. Awesome!
I blew Batman.
@Juicy
I was born in 1974, and love the Dark Knight trilogy (so far). You should read more Batman comics and watch fewer episodes of Super Friends.
Can't Wait to see this movie. There's no doubt in my mind this film wil easily exceed the $1 billion mark. I'm betting it will make more money in theaters than The Dark Knight (which was excellent). Hopefully Christopher Nolan will continue directing more films. Must be nice to be VERY rich!.
@JUICY: THIS US ACTUALLY CLOSER TO THE REAL BATMAN THAN ANY BEFORE.
@Juicy
This is based off the Dark Knight comics....not the Batman from the 90s or not the Adam West Batman. And obivously you have no taste
The fact that Bale's Batsuit doesn't feature the classic yellow and black Batman logo on the chest symbolizes everything that is WRONG with the current Batman. I have a feeling that the majority of Dark Knight fans were BORN around 1989 when the first Batman movie was released and we had a decent Batman in Michael Keaton. As for this incredibly bland current Batman, you can have him.
Christian Bale > Michael Keaton > Adam West.
I commented earlier, but apparently CNN is censoring me.
Just to be clear, when Batman first appeared (May 1939, Detective Comics #27) he did not have a Yellow Oval behind the symbol. Just a Bat on his chest.
Keaton's Batman had zero depth, and his Bruce Wayne was barely a character. Also the Nolan/Bale trilogy has much more compelling villains, with more realistic plots and a far superior secondary cast. The Keaton movies seemed cool when they first came out, but watching them now is cringe-inducing. Especially Batman Returns, when old Bats kills several Penguin goons during the opening action sequence. Now THAT is bat-blasphemy.
I agree completely. Bale is stale as Batman. No charm. He's wooden. Keaton was the best. Val Kilmer was good too. American dudes. I think Bale is a phenomenal actor. But for Bruce Wayne, he just aint right. He does not do "Playboy" rich guy well.
God bless u s a
Sure the old yellow/black logo is classic but do you really want to see a grown man in a grey spandex suit and blue underoos?
Batman debuted in 1939. The yellow symbol you describe as "classic" didn't appear until 1964.
Love bale
