Britney, Demi Lovato join 'X Factor' as Fox shuffles scheduleFox is adding three new shows and two familiar faces to its schedule this fall. As expected, Demi Lovato and Britney Spears will join "X Factor's" judges' table, taking the spots left vacant by season 1 judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger. Both pop stars said in a statement that they're "excited" and "thrilled" with their new gigs, as is Simon Cowell. (We, on the other hand, are "thrilled" the endless speculation about who would judge can now be put to rest.) “I'm absolutely delighted Britney and Demi are joining us,” he said in a statement. “Britney remains one of the biggest stars in the world, she's talented, fascinating – and I believe she knows exactly how to spot 'The X Factor.'"
And as for Lovato, "Demi's had an amazing career in music, TV and film for someone her age," Cowell said of the 19-year-old star. "She's young, confident, and enthusiastic. I think it’s really important that she speaks to our younger audience. The new panel will be dynamic and will work really well with the changes we are making to the show.” The "X Factor" will air Wednesdays and Thursdays starting at 8 p.m. ET this fall, with "American Idol" taking over the timeslot in the midseason. Gleeks will also have to switch up their DVR schedule to catch the McKinley High crew on Thursdays instead of Tuesdays in the fall, and they can expect Sarah Jessica Parker and Kate Hudson to make guest appearances next season. For the midseason, Fox is planning to roll out a thriller from Kevin Williamson called "The Following," which centers on a former FBI agent (played by Kevin Bacon) who's called back to the job to track down a serial killer on the loose. There'll also be a comedy called "The Goodwin Games" starring Scott Foley ("Grey's Anatomy, "Felicity") as the oldest of three adult siblings who return home ready to inherit their father's fortune after his passing - which they'll only receive if they follow his specific challenges. Haters need to GTFO and stop picking on Demi and Brit. They are both amazingly talented and have albums that are hits along with singles. They both have experience and I think they were great picks for being judges on X-Factor. Just because Demi and Brit both hit rough spots in their career and had points where they were both at their lowest. But they got over it. And so what Demi used to cut?! At least she had the guts to come out about it, get better, and use that to help others. She's still a talented musician. Demi and Brit both made amazing comebacks and put so much hard work into their music. I think they will both be amazing X-Factor judges and I think they will do great!

same as American Got Talent ,it was terrible bad last night, that show sucks, Howard Stern, Sharon and the bold man are not needed in this show, they do not give any smart feed back. I couldn't believe how Howard S was saying this show is the greatest show in the world, I ask him compared to what?.. The whole show locks of entertainment, has no point, the contestants were the worse, ever.

Agree completely. Britney could hardly even speak at the Fox Upfronts on Monday. How is she going to give witty, concise comments on a live show? And no way will she spend hours and hours everyday mentoring her contestants. They will have to pay MORE money for someone to do that for her. Paula was the only REAL mentor on last year's show. She is the only one who showed up and staged and choreographed for her charges. Even the X-Factor contestants will tell you that.
I predict halfway into the xfactor season, Simon shoots himself in the chest so they can study his brain to determine the amount of damage from sitting next to 2 ex disney wackos.....
I Q of the judges match the age and talent (or lack thereof) on this 'show'. Have only seen bits as flipping through channels....... and that was enough for me.

Oh please. I can't imagine what either of these two kids is going to bring to the show. Demi is way too young to mentor anyone. I can't imagine anyone truly respecting her, though she does seem to be talented. As for Britney, I have never understood the fuss, especially when comparing to her contemporaries (Justin and Christina). She is a mediocre singer that relies heavily on being autotuned. That's not talent. Still not sure why they got rid of Paula, she may be a kook but she had experience. Nicole was fairly useless so I had hoped that they would at least replace them with some more seasoned and expereinced artists or executives.
I wonder who is making a decision when choosing a judge with millions of dollars salary, it is an insult to our intelligence. I'm surprised that Simon has hired these two – I'm thinking that X Factor's ratings will continue to go down. Not good judging choices on his part. I'd rather he kept Nicole and Paula. Britney and Demi are too young and irrelevant. The only kind of music they will like is pop - stuff designed for the under 21 set..
You don't make any since. Britney young and irrelevant? She's a 30 year old women and has been relevant in the industry for more than 14 years. Paula is a has been and Nicole is a never was. Britney has achieved 10x more success than both of them combined.
I like Britney and Demi but I don't think they were the best choice. Both have recent mental health issues. Will they be reliable? Paula and Nicole should of just stayed.

Well, they can't be any worse than the 3 bozo judges over on Idol. At least these 2 have some actual talent and easy on the eyes. Tyler over on Idol looks like my dead 89 year old grandma.
I think Demi is a good choice because she'll be able to connect with the younger audience better. As for Brittney, say what you want, but she had a very successful career in show business. I know Brittney may not have the best vocals, but she is a great performer, and that's all that matters. And as for Demi, if you bother to listen to some of her songs, you will realize that she is actually has an amazing voice. Oh, and they're both beautiful. That helps.
I actually think this is a great choice. Whether you like or hate her, you can't deny that Britney's got the X Factor, since she's been in the music business for a long time and is one of the biggest pop stars on the planet right now, while Demi, although still new herself, is a great singer and therefore can connect with the younger viewers in ways that the other judges can't.
This is Britney saying 'Okay, I had my turn. I'm done. Next!' Say what you want but at least she knows when the fat lady has sung.

I'm not much of a Britney fan, but to be in this fickle industry for over 14 years and still be relevant says something. She must be doing something right. Like it or not, Britney has made a profound impact in pop culture. She was never known for her "singing," but more for her stage presence and dancing, though she has lost most of her dancing skills since she was younger. She is certainly qualified to judge this show because the X Factor isn't about singing but whether you have the "X Factor," which Britney certainly does.

I liked Paula. Maybe Simon should look at himself. Next season he will replace Brittany and Demi. He thought he was the star of American Idol. He wanted to get better ratings on x-factor so he could be the star. No one else matters. He is desperate to prove he didn't make a mistake by leaving American Idol and telling everyone that his new show would get way more viewers than it did.

i think brit was a great choice and i cant wait to see what she brings to the show this year, as for demi well im not too keen on that and am not sure how that will pan out. We shall see. Im super excited for the show to start this year. love the X-Factor!
