Russell Brand to host 2012 MTV Movie Awards

Russell Brand's staying busy in the aftermath of his divorce: The comedian is all set to host the 2012 MTV Movie Awards.

It’ll be the first time the actor will host the ceremony honoring film favorites, although he has hosted MTV's Video Music Awards twice before.

The MTV Movie Awards will air live from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California on Sunday, June 3.

Brand hyped up his new gig in a statement, saying, “This MTV Movie Awards will be more impressive than 'The Avengers' and you won't have to wait an hour for someone to Hulk out."

This year’s nominees include films like “Drive,” “Like Crazy,” “The Descendants,” “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” and “My Week with Marilyn.”

The indie group fun. is also expected to perform its smash single, “We Are Young,” which is from their latest album.

The Movie Awards aside, Brand is going to be pretty hard to miss for the rest of 2012: he has a new show coming to FX later this year, and is also starring along with Tom Cruise in “Rock of Ages," out June 15.

Luckily I only watch the music video awards so I'll miss this garbage, thankfully.
