Lil Wayne signs $150 million record deal?

Lil Wayne might have 150 million new reasons to celebrate.

It's been speculated that the rap star just signed a $150 million, 4-album deal to re-up with Cash Money Records.

While his label boss Bryan “Birdman” Williams wouldn't confirm the official sum, he did tell MTV Monday that “it's probably the biggest deal ever in urban music.”

"I'm blessed to even do that,” Birdman said of the rumored astronomical figure he paid to keep Wayne, who signed to Cash Money when he was just a kid. “Whatever my son want, he can get. It's all his anyway, so it don't really matter to me."

Without Wayne, the Young Money/Cash Money empire doesn't exist, Birdman added of the rapper's central position.

Wayne himself referenced his long-standing relationship with the label on an episode of MTV’s “Hip Hop POV” a few weeks back.

"Everybody knows I came into the game at 11 years old with Cash Money Records, before we even had a major deal,” he said of his new contractual situation. “We signed a deal in I don't remember when, and I been with Cash Money ever since. So, if you're looking for integrity, I am the definition. If you're looking for a person that's gonna stay down, I am the definition. If you're looking for loyalty, I am just that."

Looks like the new deal comes at just the right time: Birdman recently told XXL magazine that Cash Money is headed to Hollywood.

He’s apparently looking to launch his Cash Money Films project with a movie starring his entire YMCMB squad, including Wayne, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Busta Rhymes and Limp Bizkit. The title of the forthcoming project is appropriately titled, “Rich Gang.”

I wouldn't have paid him that much. Eminem would be worth that considering his long glorious career of platinum hits. He may have been doing it since age 11, but he has only blown up in the last few years. A few of his hits because of working with Eminem himself. Not saying the guy isn't good, just not 150 million good.

The idea of giving a rapper, note the lack of the term musican, $150 million is completely idiotic. Especially when this said rapper has been in prision multiple times. What makes this musician so special? The four albums that will be created not only will have lyrics that cannot be understood but also language that children and teens should be prevented from hearing. These four albums of mindless moaning and foul language will do nothing but reek havoc upon American society. Is this really what America has come to? Rewarding people who set nothing but a horrible example.

Emily, I follow and agree with your points generally but the fact that an album might contain foul language and offend children does not justify it not getting made. The key is to keep it out of the hands of children. And we're skirting the most basic point: this is horrible music that no one who has any interest in making quality music takes seriously. Anyone who cares to rebuff that point, consider first how many people who actually study a musical instrument would find merit in this music? The point is those who can discern musicianship would consider this music the equivalent of junk food.

You obviously do not like the genre which is making this post completely biased. Therefore irrelevant. If you don't like the music fine, but please don't make ignorant comments. He sells albums, and there are plenty of people who can confirm he is a musician. If you have heard some of his music, it isn't all just 'rap.' Educate yourself before making dumb posts please.

I'd pay him $150 million to keep his cRAP music off the air. No talent. Bring back the old school rappers and MC's! This cRAP nowadays sounds like very bad spoken word poetry.

Wow talk about getting Rped...Imagine all the artists that are gonna get tossed on the side just to let this artist in the spotlight....Poeple will never figure out on how these record companies are terrorist and organised crime mobs...150 millions is like lots....Records company could probably invest less than 500.000k in me and make just as much.
