Eight remain on 'The Voice'I've got to hand it to Adam Levine: The man is a mad genius. Adam encouraged Tony Lucca - two weeks after he was harshly criticized by former "Mickey Mouse Club" member Christina Aguilera - to sing a song from another fellow Mouseketeer this week: Britney Spears' "(Baby) One More Time." Tony got a huge reaction from the crowd when he performed it on Monday's show, and it was no surprise when he was saved by Adam that night, and again by America's vote on Tuesday night.
Instead, Adam bid adieu to the second of two heartthrobs to go home that night: Pip. My heart sank as he was eliminated, but I saw it coming as a strategic move for Team Adam. Unfortunately, Pip never quite lived up to his audition, one of my favorites of the season. The other heartthrob to get cut on Monday was James Massone, whose rendition of "Just the Way You Are" - not gonna lie here - kind of made me nauseated. I was never a big fan of him but his constant playing to the crowd got on my last nerve on Monday, and Cee Lo Green made the right choice there (and I'm sure he heard about it from fans on Twitter). Speaking of Cee Lo, between his performance with Goodie Mob and the rest of his team, it was a big night for outlandish costumes. I would not be surprised if NBC gave a series to Cee Lo's wigs in the fall, either. But I digress: On Tuesday night, America saved Jamar Rogers, one of the more inspiring performers this season. Right now, I think he may be the one to beat. Between Team Cee Lo's Juliet Simms and Cheesa, and Team Adam's Katrina Parker and Mathai, it was fairly obvious to me who deserved to go. Katrina is the best thing that Adam's got left on his team, and she brought the house down with Pink's "Perfect," an appropriate title for her song choice. Mathai on the other hand, struggled with her last chance performance. So it was goodbye, Mathai. Juliet has been a rising star on this show, so despite Cheesa's growth and power as a performer, she came off a bit pitchy, and couldn't measure up. I can't say I disagree with any of the judges' choices this week, strategically speaking. What about you? Share your view on video, or comment below. |

Tony isn't bad and i'm not sure why he doesn't have a career already. Before he was on The Voice i was on youtube and i came across when he was on the MMC. He and JC Chasez did a version of Now and Forever and it was priceless. Although I want Jamar to win if for some chance he didn't I wouldn't mind seeing Tony win or at least be able to have some kind of deal after this.
Juliette by far. She is the rare find! Amazing voice who so fare can sing anything. Who else can sing a Steven Tyler song & sound JUST AS GOOD!!! (NO ONE)
Juliettet Simms all the way, her voice is a mix of Janis Joplin, Stevie Nicks and Nora Jones, I just lover her voice and could listen to her all day... Go Juilettet!!!
Juliette Simms all the way. She's a cross between Steven Tyler and Janis Joplin..
who cares about the contestants? I just watch so I can feast my eyes on Adam.
I must be missing something, I like Tony Luka but he is not a very good singer and I was disappointed that he was saved.
Last weeks cuts were weird. Thank goodness Adam and Ceelo actually saved and let go the right people this week.
