'Dance Duel' claims second 'DWTS' celebrity

Last night's "Dance Duel" on "Dancing with the Stars" proved to be difficult for the judges, as both Roshon Fegan and Gladys Knight performed strong jives that delighted the crowd.

But it was Knight who was given the heave-ho at the end of the ABC competition series, with judges Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli voting to keep Fegan. Carrie Ann Inaba was the dissenting judge, opting to save Knight.

Despite the defeat, the music legend enjoyed her time on the dance floor.

"I had great fun," Knight told CNN after the show. "I like the challenge of new things, and this was definitely a challenge."

Knight also admitted that she knew very little about "Dancing with the Stars" when she agreed to compete this season.

"I had no clue what this was all about, who I was going to meet, or anything like that," she said. "I had a few friends who have been on who said I should do it."

Knight's elimination means there are seven celebrities left. Next week, they're expected to tangle with classical tunes.

What did you think of last night's elimination episode?  Did the right celebrity get voted off?

It's quite simple. It's good entertainment to some. Actually, quite a few, obviously.

Gladys did much better than I expected for a woman of her age. However this is really a show for the young and in good physical condition. That is why so many professional athletes do so well. Dancing is hard work.

Gladys is the first black person that I don't find absolutely terrifying, but the young mulatto man that they picked instead of her is adorable, shame he has so little to look forward to.

I don't like it when they change the rules nodstream. The ho e favors youth and energy so they didn't have much choice but I thought her popularity and the viewer votes should have been the deciding factor.

I agree if they wanted to change how the contestants were voted off they should have done so from the beginning. Don't kid yourself the judges go easy on the favorites. Most teens who vote by populatiry quite watching one it gets down to the final 4.The only bad winner was season one when tehe soap opera fans vote a bad dancer as the champ .

Love her music ,she dances well ,but not a winner for DWTS I am being fair. She is elegant and we have to remember this woman is in her 60's and for that she did it wonderful.

I agree with you-she is a very classy lady who had some elegance in her style but could not be the winner. I have to admit, however, I teared up when they announced her defeat.

I like the judges being involved and not having contestants being eliminated by "clique voters" such as sub-teenagers or voting for your favorite star regardless of talent. Perhaps AI should change to this format so we can see real talent advance to the finals.

The dance duel is a GOOD thing. The judges are judging on DANCE skills and not popularity!!!! The popularity vote is getting out of control.

I do not like the new "duel dance off" for the judges. Why did they change the format of the show in the middle of the season? The audience should be the ones choosing, not the judges.

i think they decided to have the duel because this season the celebrities were so evenly matched in ability from week one. I thought they should have gone like 4 weeks this season before eliminating anyone, to see if the 'less' able dancers ever improved, and then had a group elimination. Haven't really thought that through, but each week, the lower scorers may have improved if they'd had more time. And Len Goodman said one season, the not every dance is on a dancer's wavelength or something. I wish we could have seen Gladys do more slow paced dances, and I wish we could have seen the previous eliminees do more kinds of dances. This season is really a tough one.
