'Dark Knight Rises' trailer to screen before 'Avengers'Warner Bros., home to DC Comics, has announced that it's attaching the third and final trailer for its long-awaited movie “The Dark Knight Rises” to Marvel’s “The Avengers,” which hits theaters on May 4, according to NolanFans.com. This isn't the first time the two comics mainstays joined forces. DC and Marvel teamed up four years ago, when Warner Bros. promoted the final trailer for 2008's "The Dark Knight" during a screening of Marvel's "Iron Man," which came out a few months before. So far the decision is looking like a total win for everyone involved: "The Avengers" is reportedly tracking to make at least $150 million during its opening weekend, and Warner Bros. doesn't want to miss out on that audience. "We always want our trailers to be seen with films that people want to see - and a lot of people will be going to see 'The Avengers!'" Wanee festival pays tribute to Levon HelmOver the weekend, artists paid tribute to The Band’s Levon Helm at the 8th annual Wanee Music Festival at the Spirit of Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer was 71 when he died on Thursday. Hours later, Hot Tuna – featuring fellow Rock Hall members Jack Casady and Jorma Kaukonen – performed “I Am the Light of This World” and “99 Year Blues” in honor of Helm, kicking off a number of notable performances in his memory. The next day, under a bright noonday sun, Bruce Hornsby sang a moving rendition of “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down,” which was made famous by Helm and The Band in 1969. Hornsby followed this up with his original classic “The Way It Is.” LiLo officially playing Liz Taylor in Lifetime filmLifetime is offering up more details about Lindsay Lohan's upcoming role as Elizabeth Taylor in the Lifetime film, "Liz & Dick." In a statement on Monday, Lifetime's exec VP of programming, Rob Sharenow, said they're "thrilled" that the 25-year-old actress is portraying the film legend, who died in March of last year. Lohan, Sharenow said, "is one of the rare actresses who possesses the talent, beauty and intrigue to capture the spirit of such a provocative icon." (Wax) Lady Gaga goes to WashingtonLady Gaga's waxen doppelganger has taken a road trip to Washington D.C., and was unveiled at the local Madame Tussauds wax museum on Monday.
The Mother Monster actually has eight wax figures, which are located around the globe. The wax statue that is now in D.C.'s Presidents Gallery by Madame Tussauds is on loan from the Las Vegas location, and is dressed in a one-shoulder black catsuit and platform heels with its blonde hair fashioned into the shape of a bow. To commemorate the statue's limited time at the museum, fans were encouraged to dress like Gaga with the opportunity for five little monsters to win an iPod shuffle and an iTunes gift card. The Washington D.C. Madame Tussauds is already home to the wax figures of late pop icon Michael Jackson; Britney Spears; Justin Timberlake; Jennifer Lopez; Rihanna; and now-engaged couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, along with the 44 U.S. Presidents. Lady Gaga's Vegas-based statue will be at the D.C. museum until June 30. Two Cubans in Tribeca film 'disappear' in MiamiAccording to reports, two Cuban youths featured in a new film about three teens fleeing Cuba for a better life have disappeared inside the United States. The Huffington Post reports that the movie's lead trio - all of whom are 20 years of age - landed in Miami Wednesday to participate in a screening of their film, "Una Noche," at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City, but two of them disappeared after their plane landed. According to reports, Anailin de la Rua de la Torre and Javier Nunez Florian are nowhere to be found. |
