Attorney for 'Basketball Wife' speaks out on lawsuit

The attorney for “Basketball Wives” star Jennifer Williams is speaking out on a lawsuit that, according to TMZ, threatens to stand in the way of a reunion episode for the popular VH1 reality series.

Williams, the former wife of NBA player Eric Williams, launched a suit on Wednesday against Nia Crooks, the personal assistant of another star on the show, Evelyn Lozada, alleging she was “viciously attacked” by her.

Williams' attorney called the suit a “serious matter.”

Today's news you might've missed:

  • OK, we too were moved by Hologram Tupac (and maybe even considered whether we'd get tickets to the potential concert) but this is getting to be a bit much. Now, Suge Knight says he's not sure if the rapper is actually dead. [Gossip Cop]
  • Jimmy Fallon's late night talk show will get a presidential upgrade on Tuesday: President Obama will be on the show to talk about student loans. (Oh, yes, we'll be watching. Ahem.) [CNN]
  • No need to buy Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez a wedding present (not yet, anyway). The two are not getting married, despite reports that the teenaged couple (keyword there: teen!) couple was seen "ring shopping." [Us Weekly]
  • Is it Lady Gaga's fault that "American Idol" contestant Colton Dixon got the boot last night? [E!]
  • "Magic Mike" is still the No. 1 summer movie in our hearts, but "Avengers" isn't far behind: This early review says the superhero flick is "the biggest Marvel movie yet, destined for the box office stratosphere." May 4, everyone, May 4! [THR]
  • Adele, not at all surprisingly, leads the 2012 Billboard Music Award nominations. Everyone else may want to consider just staying home. [Billboard]

Goldie Hawn: No rush for Kate Hudson to wed

Goldie Hawn is telling inquiring minds to chill out on the rumors surrounding her daughter Kate Hudson’s long engagement to rocker Matthew Bellamy.

According to Us Weekly, Hudson announced her engagement to the Muse musician last year but then, nada - no booked wedding halls, no gown purchases, not even, apparently, a set date.

Hawn says she believes none of this is necessary.

Bob Marley's son: I don't shy away from his legacy

When it comes to legendary singer Bob Marley, even his family learned some things thanks to a new documentary on his life.

"There was some stuff about when he was in Germany and his struggles with his illness, his process behind writing the songs, some of the issues he had with his skin color," his daughter Karen told CNN at SXSW. "It was pretty educational for me because he died when I was 8."

"Marley" was directed by Kevin Macdonald and was released in the U.S. Friday. The Jamaican singer-songwriter died in 1981 of cancer, but has an enduring legacy as a musical icon. FULL POST

‘The Weight' of our ears: Take a load off … who?

The late Levon Helm, who died Thursday, had a wonderfully distinctive voice, but his drawling delivery didn’t always make it easy to discern the words of The Band’s songs – which only added to the music’s charm.

Nevertheless, with Helm’s passing, an old debate has once again flared up: In “The Weight,” is the lyric “Take a load off, Annie” or “Take a load off, Fanny”? In our obituary of Helm, we went with “Annie,” but the CNN newsroom has divided into factions passionately defending one or the other.

The Internet, the world’s biggest game of Telephone, is little help. Some lyrics sites say the former; others go with the latter. The unofficial Band site goes with “Fanny," and has a terrifically detailed list of reasons why -  including an explanation featuring an old girlfriend and her pregnancy (or was it venereal disease?).

'Top Model' gets rid of three - but Nigel isn't surprised

As Heidi Klum tells us on "Project Runway," when it comes to fashion, one day you're in and the next day you're out.

In the case of "America's Next Top Model," it looks like J. Alexander, Jay Manuel and Nigel Barker have gone out of style. The trio's contracts were not renewed as the show heads into its 19th season.

Tyra Banks confirmed that the three, who've been on the long-running CW modeling competition since its infancy, were off the show via her Twitter account.
