TV legend Dick Clark dies at 82Venerated TV producer and host of "New Year's Rockin' Eve" Dick Clark has passed away, CNN has confirmed via his publicist. He was 82. According to Clark's publicist, the icon passed away Wednesday morning following a massive heart attack. "Clark, 82, had entered St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica last night for an outpatient procedure," a statement says. "Attempts to resuscitate were unsuccessful. He is survived by his wife Kari and his three children, RAC, Duane and Cindy." In 2004, Clark suffered a stroke, causing him to step back from his duties as host of "New Year's Rockin' Eve," which he also produced. Known as "America's teenager" because of his longtime hosting duties with the dance show "American Bandstand," Clark also hosted numerous other television favorites including "$25,000 Pyramid" and "TV's Bloopers and Practical Jokes." |

Great paintings! This is the type of information that are supposed to be shared around the net. Shame on the search engines for no longer positioning this put up upper! Come on over and discuss with my web site . Thank you =)
We have lost a Gaint of a Man.
Mark Harmon is a real man and sets a positive example of what a man should be.
Wall Street ir run by tiny little men, who never participated in Team Sports.
Mark harmon is the only real man in America.
Rick Nelson never appeared on american Bandstand.
I am glad Dick clark did not live to see USA destroyed by the Elite DC crowd that will not regulate Wall Street.
David Cassidy, was probably the Hard Rock star that Lloyd Bankfein of Goldman Sachs, related to.
You really make it seem so easy together with your presentation but I to find this topic to be really something which I feel I might never understand. It kind of feels too complicated and extremely broad for me. I am taking a look ahead in your next post, I'll try to get the dangle of it!
http://eosene.com/memorial/903/dick-clark Eosene, a new online memorial site features a section dedicated to Dick Clark. You can share your memories and stories about Dick Clark on this platform. Take a look!
I remember this show well. I used to watch it with my older brother pete on saturday afternoons and that was how i got introduced to all that great music of the sixties. Loved the new years eve ball drops with Dick in the seventies. I even remember seeing him on batman once. well, heavens got another star, you'll be missed Dick, say hi to my Dad when you see him.....
All of u r stoopid
Do you know how to use a dictionary?
Mr. Clark, rest in peace. You brought such fun to the many years of not just game shows – the American Bandstand was the how to dances & what dances were happening. My opinion- it had fashion in the dancing too. It was a great and meaningful time for myself and am sure for many others...
Thank you for all the good times rolled...
Condolences to the Clark Family & Friends.
Such a great loss in the passing of Dick Clark. He did so much for everyone, not only in the entertainment industry, but for all the world. Truly a one of a kind man. What a wonderful world we would live in if there were more men like Dick Clark. May you rest in peace you wonderful person. To his family, may God be with you at this most heart breaking time. Thank you for sharing him with all of us . Rest in peace
I like your words. Nicely written & I agree...
You will be missed, prayers are with your family. I'll sleep better knowing that a new angel is in haven.
Without Dick Clark there can be no New Years Eve. Maybe the Mayans were right.
He still looks like he's only about 40.
RIP Dick Clark you will never be forgotten. I still watch him on GSN he was such great person, and a good bussiness man. I watched him on American Bandstand, I didn't realize what impact he had on society at that time having a variety of stars on his show. He will go down in history for being calm, smooth, and smart.
A true American icon, and a truly GentleMan. RIP Dick. You will be sore,y missed.
As host of the decades-long "American Bandstand", Clark had a bouncy beat and a really good rhythm and he was easy to dance to – I rate him 8.5 out of 10. Dug that show, along with "Hullaballoo" and "Shindig". "Bloopers and Practical Jokes" was horrible, however. Ah well, there's a new star up there in Rock 'n Roll Heaven...
What sad news....I will definately miss him. New Years Eve wont ever be the same. Rest in Peace and thanks for the memories.
To the few trolls here who talk bad about him shame on you.
Rest In Peace Dick Clark.....coming home from school in the 50's, tuning in to the Mickey Mouse Club and American Bandstand are among my favorite childhood memories; and there IS a rockin roll heaven – see you there.
WOW, this is so very sad. I learned how to dance watching American Bandstand and Soul Train. Dick Clark and Don Cornielius will be missed, but never forgotten. Both these men brought American Music to pretyy high standards.....sleep well to both DC's....
I met him during the 1980's. He was a huge celebrity but was as genuine as could be and that's why people young and old loved him.
He is a true irreplaceable!
I feel like a part of me has died today. Those of us who grew up during the American Bandstand era know what I mean.....it is an absolute shame that we do not think of the great values that people bestow on us until they are gone. Rest and God bless Mr. Dick Clark.
So sad to hear about Dick Clark. I admired and respected him. He forged ahead in spite of his difficulties after his stroke. He always wanted to be a part of things. It was so nice to see him on New Year's Rockin' Eve, year after year.
He was indeed "America's Oldest Teenager". For so many years, he never showed his age. He will be sorely missed.
God bless his family.
Surprised but not shocked but still saddened by the news. Watched American Bandstand every Saturday religiously. Though some have tried to replicate "Bandstand" they never were quite as successful... because that show was one of a kind! Dick Clark is a legend! RIP and sincerest condolonces to his family and friends.
Not a blooper or a practical joke.
Bye.. I grew up with American Bandstand and the bloopers show. And $100,000 Pyramid. And all those other shows, too. You will be missed.
OK, that's hysterical.
DICK's death will truly be HARD ON the american PUBIC. My DEEPEST thoughts that his family's tears are soon WITHDRAWN.
R.I.P. Dick Clark... You were a TV favorite of mine and I never grew tired of your productions. You're a Golden treasure to America!
Ryan Seacrest is a pale imitation of Dick Clark. And I mean pale!
In a new age where people don't get to keep the SAME job (any job) for so long the few famous that do are legends for surviving that long let alone doing the job well.
RIP
He did not "create" American Bandstand". He hosted it and later produced it.
He did create "New Year's Rockin' Eve" in 1972

CORRECTION!!! American Dreams is an American television comedy-drama program broadcast on the NBC television network, produced by Once A Frog and Dick Clark Productions in association with Universal Network Television and NBC Studios. The series was created by Jonathan Prince and developed by Josh Goldstein and Prince; the latter was also one of the executive producers with Dick Clark. It debuted on September 29, 2002. The show is set mostly in Philadelphia. It initially aired on Sundays at 8:00pm Eastern time, but moved to the same time on Wednesdays from March 9, 2005, to the third season finale (March 30, 2005). The show tells the story of the Pryor family of Philadelphia during the mid-1960s. Season one takes place in 1963-64, season two in 1964-65, and season three in 1965-66. The show was known as "Our Generation" when it debuted in Australia, however it was changed back to "American Dreams" when it returned for the second season.
I enjoyed his presence whenever a teen group was on the TV. It was like having a cool adult chaperoning.
All these recent deaths of musicians, etc. and people related to the past Rock era are sad and shocking.
But, to be honest, I never think about them anymore till I read about their passing.
To quote Joni Mitchell: "You don't know what you've got till it's gone."
BTW, I can't think of anyone who was more unflappable on screen than Dick Clark.
Cool cat.
i watched from the young age of 6 yrs old. he was an icon then and will be missed very much by all. you were truly a remarkable man and a great legend has passed. you will be missed by all. god bless his family in this trying time.
So sad. I'm so heart broken. He was such a lovely man and so nice in person. I wish his family well during this difficult time. God Bless and RIP Mr Clark. It was a fun ride and you'll be sorely missed.
Teenager Dick Clark dead at 82? WOW he will be missed. I grew up with Band Stand. RIP DICK.
A Legend who will be dearly missed. I remember watching his New Year's Rockin' Eve every year, but the one I remember most vividly is in 2006. It was sad seeing him like that, but it was great seeing the strength he had after his stroke. That year, especially, it was very clear the transition was beginning. I didn't grow up in the era of American Bandstand, but I sure as Hell know I missed out on a lot of fun then! Looking to today, I don't think his legacy could be better held and carried out in spirit than by Ryan Seacrest. I'm sure Dick is looking down on Seacrest and saying something along the lines, "You're doing good, Kid....Now it's your turn." I mean, I'm growing up in the age of Seacrest, and I don't think any modern day fan of pop culture could ask for anybody better to take the spot of yesterday's Heroes than Ryan Seacrest. He is the living legacy of Dick Clark.
Rest In Peace, Dick Clark.
Good Luck, Ryan.
🙂
RIP BANDSTAND MAN...
I remember when it seemed that he never aged.
Why would he age, he played on tv games all his life.......how much stress could that have caused him?
what a great guy............. always thought he was so cool, and a real gentleman. a huge part of my growing up in the 70's. I'd watch the show on Saturdays, and then if I liked the act that performed that day, rush up to the record store ( yes there were places actually called record stores, Sam's Jams in Ferndale ) and buy the album. he'll be very much missed.
where is your respect. R.I.P. MR.Dick clatke
I watched him growing up with American Bandstand, The Pyramid game show... TV Bloopers & Practical Jokes, and his Rock n Rolling New Year's Eve. Another giant in TV history gone. One who brought Rock and Roll to teens throughout America with the stars who made the songs famous, and the dance crazes of the times. R.I.P. Dick Clark.
God bless and rest in peace! You brought years of sheer joy to many teenagers, myself included, who raced home from school to watch American Bandstand each day. We learned how to dance watching the regulars on "Bandstand." You are a Rock and Roll icon, along with all the wonderful artists you introduced to us who became Rock and Roll Hall of Famers. Condolences to your family and friends. We will all miss you.
somehow I thought he would live forever....so sad..RIP Dick Clark <3
our deepsest sympathys to his family and friends. I grew up listening to Dick Clark on american bandstand and every year for new years eve. Truley a legend taht will not soon be forgotten. Rest in peace my friend you earned it.
sadly u will b missed. R.I.P Mr. Clark.
Huh?? What on earth does that moron have to do with Dick Clark's death? Take your irrelevant, not based on facts opinion and share them somewhere else. Be respectful.
Who could forget American Bandstand with Dick Clark; he was a wonderful part of my childhood.
Dick Clark is an American legend – gone but never forgotten!! Thanks for the memories...
Rest in peace, Dick Clark. Your presence and charisma will be sorely missed by us all. Remembering the endless Saturday afternoons when I would watch you and American Bandstand – those were wonderful days 🙂 <3
R.I.P. my friend you WILL be missed this New Years!
A great ICON RIP Mr. Clark. You can rest now.
Rest in the best of peace, our friend.
Sad news for sure 🙁 What am I gonna' do now on New Year's Eve...Dick and I had a standing date every year !
As you stand at the Pearly Gates, Dick, tell them we gave you a "10" !
Truely a great Entertainer, just thinking about his shows brings back lots of fond memories growing up listening to his music ! Thanks Dick for a job well done. RIP my friend. Condolences to his family
RIP, What a great inspiration you were to the music industry. Your spirit will live on forever
But it was really getting hard to watch old Dick mumble through New Years while Seacrest would just stand there hoping the old man would eat it right there on national TV. This is all for the best.
Rest in Peace Dick Clark, you were one of a kind and a legend. I danced on American Bandstand when you were in Philadelphia and I lived in Delaware. Thank you for all you've done in the music world, you will be missed. A real class act.
A true American icon and a class act all the way. We have lost an "original." Ryan Seacrest can carry his banner bravely and with great class and competency. 'm sure he is as sad about this loss as the rest of us are who remember the legacy of Dick Clark. No sarcasm and snide remarks are appropriate now on this site. Just tributes and condolences
regarding a sad loss.
This man will truly be missed. i spent many Saturday afternoon watching his show on ABC. If you were a musician and you wanted to be known and heard you appeared on two shows; Soul Train and American Bandstand. If you couldn't get booked on those shows you were NOT going to make it. RIP Dick Clark and Don Cornelius.
It's too bad he's gone. He was a public figure you NEVER heard anything "off color" about.
A true role model.
A class act, who will surely be missed! Thanks for the memories
Dick Clark. My condolences to his family.
I will always have fond memories of watching Dick Clark on American Bandstand. Rest in peace!
One of the best broadcasters in television history. He will be missed.
Dick Clark will be forever a "household name". Will be truly missed.
Rock and roll will never die. Rock on dick!
My deepest condolence to his family and friends. Yes, indeed...forever young!
I suppose it depends on your scoring format, but he was only worth 18 in mine (the ol' 100 minus the celeb's age). I almost left him off the list this year, but sometimes you have to take the cheap points where you can find them.
Who was this old dude?
GO ASK YOUR PARENTS YOU UNGRATEFUL SO and SO!
if you are totally serious in this comment–then i am totally serious when I say to you,no-one will even bother to ask " who the hell are YOU ?"when you pass because no-one will ever give a damn you piece of filth!
He knew that we werent going to make it to 2013 you know being 2012 and all so he just decided to go early.
R.I.P Mr. Clark, a true gentlemen of the broadcasting and television world.
First Davey Jones from the Monkees – now Dick Clark – another icon from my 60's childhood has died. RIP
Very sad day, I will miss you Mr. Clark, Thank you for it all.
Also sad.... we are now stuck with Ryan Seacrest.
Good memories of sitting by the radio listening to him belt out the top 40 songs in America and reading letters of dedication in the late 70's and 80's. This was the only way to know what was hot before MTV, the internet, and other social media even existed. These days I think most teens would find it difficult to sit in front of a radio for hours while the top 40 songs were played. Now you can just online and find the list in seconds and be done with it. He was a great American Icon.
Good memories indeed. I remember seeing Prince for the first time on American Bandstand. Dick Clark was a great host of this and many other television and radio shows. What a great life he had.
That was Casey Kasem
Dick Clark did that, too? I always thought that was Casey Kasem.
Another icon is gone. This is so sad. Watching "American Bandstand" and looking forward to the musical guests each week were a big part of my youth. He seemed like such a nice guy too. R.I.P. to a legend.
R.I.P Mr. Clark. You will always be a part of New Year's Eve.
I remember you never went anywhere on Saturday until after you watched American Bandstand and Soul Train.
RIP, Dick. Condolences to his family and close friends.
Peace.
I'm sort of glad. It was getting awkward to watch him get propped up every year on New Year's. Seacrest is awful, though.
This is aman who will be missed. The man who never seemed to grow old untill 2004. For those who grew up watching American Bandstand he was a really nice guy.
I grew up in Philly watching American Bandstand every Saturday. RIP Dick Clark.
R.I.P. Mr. Clark. A lot of fond childhood memories were because of you and American Bandstand. God Speed.
Dick, he was a very special host and I for one enjoyed him thoroughly. Rest in the best of peace, our friend.
So sad. He ushered in the classical music era when he gave Beethoven his first break.
My sincere condoleances.
You will be miss
dick clark was the deble.
OMG!!!!!!! I am soooooooooooooooo saddened by this news!!!! OMG!!!!!! The end of a great era..... :O( I'm just sad.....
So sad...RIP Dick Clark. Will sorely be missed.
He has made a great contribution to American culture. He is so familiar. It's like losing a friend.
Stroke in 2004? I'm sure this is why he passed in 2012.
Anyway, RIP Mr. Clark. Had a some great years watching you.
I think they made it clear that he died of a heart attack last night, not from a stroke in 2004. Maybe you should try actually reading the article next time. RIP Dick.
The world is going to end – the ageless Dick Clark gone.
I grew up watching American Bandstand, the Pyramid and Rockin Eve... can't believe he's gone. Condolences to the family, may he rest in peace.
Loved seeing him on So Philliy streets when he did bandstand during its "hayday". Good times!
Friends in Malibu..close to him, say it was a massive heart attack. Dick was flawless broadcaster.
RIP, Dick Clark.
Rest in peace.
Forever young....rest in peace Mr Clark.
R.I.P. Dick Clark. You were a legend.
