Tom Cruise takes the mic in 'Rock of Ages' trailer

Tom Cruise turns himself into a total rock star in the new clip for the anticipated “Rock of Ages” screen adaptation.

New Line Cinema released the second trailer for the uber-popular Broadway musical-turned-film on Monday.

In it, a long-haired Cruise - aka Stacee Jaxx - can be seen in full rock star swag, tattooed and at times wearing a fluffy fur, surrounded by scantily-dressed women.

He’s cavorting with similarly '80s-styled co-stars Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Malin Akerman, Mary J. Blige, Julianne Hough, Diego Boneta and, last but not least, a monkey named "Hey, Man."

As fans of the musical would expect, the Adam Shankman-helmed vehicle is all about sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll, and as such, boasts a big-haired soundtrack of '80s rock anthems.

Among them?

Classics like Journey’s “Any Way You Want It,” Joan Jett’s “I Love Rock and Roll," Warrant’s “Heaven Isn’t Too Far Away" and Bon Jovi’s “Wanted Dead or Alive."

I would of gone and seen this movie, it looks kind of funny. But the fact that Tom Cruise is in it sinched it for me. I won't ever pay to see anything with that disgusting jerk in it again. I wouldn't even buy it out of the Walmart dollar bin.

The text in the ad is misleading. "I love rock n roll" is an Arrows song, written by the British band The Arrows in 1975, covered successfully in the USA in 1982 by Joan Jett. She didn't write the song. She wasn't the original artist. As a result she didn't have a #1 record in the UK, she didn't even make top 3 there. It's an Arrows song.

Trailers usually contain some of the best parts of the movie to make people want to go see it. I see nothing in this trailer to make me want to go. Just sounds like a lot of bad covers of some good (and not so good) 80's songs.

Honestly I was expecting something cooler.....I bet it'll be entertaining but its not going to be on my agenda....I think their trying to get people to swallow it based on the popularity of Glee, american Idol and 80's looks like a hot mess from the trailer.

they sure as heck don't make the movies like they use too. FLOP came to mind when i saw that both Russell Brand and Paul Giamatti were in the film. how does Russell Brand keep getting work. didn't they get the hint when Arthur Flopped? we all have our own likes/dislikes in what we choose to watch. just saying this doesn't look appealing AT ALL.

First off apparently you are not old enough to remember the first Arther with Dudley Moore, That movie was garbage but Dudley did a second one. As far as Giamatti is concerned your a troll if you don't notice Giamatti as a talent. Complain, complain, complain, you people aren't happy unless you have something to biotch about.

This movie is for two classes of people: those who never experienced the 80's, and those who loved the 80's.

If you don't fit these two categories, keep your money, get a latte at Starbucks and keep your azz home.

ITS A FRIGGIN MOVIE !!!! ie ENTERTAINMENT !!!! FUN NOT REALITY ENJOYMENT AN ESCAPE FROM EVERYDAY LIFE. not every movie has to be OSCAR worthy to be a good movie. I loved ZOOLANDER because it was a dumb stupid outlandish movie purely made to make you laugh and be entertaining. I also loved Shawshank Redemption quite the different movie.

For the very "serious" people on here DONT GO SEE IT.... but why all the bashing ??? I dont get it.

Not all movies need to have real meaning Leah. Sometimes movies can just be fun and be entertaining for those who like certain genres. I think this movie will be exactly what it's suppose to be: an escape for two hours while eating popcorn and hearing some fun 80s rock. Everyone relax, in this case it's just entertainment. See something else if you think this movie will be lame.

The worst part about this movie is putting that chick from Dancing with the Stars in most of the scenes. Minimize her role and let the true actors take over...aka Baldwin, Brand and Cruise.

It's probably better to see the stage performance before you make any judgments. The stage version had a lot of energy and fun and certainly wasn't meant to be taken seriously. If you didn;t like the 80's hair band scene, you're not going to like it. Based on the trailer it looks like the focus is on the Stacee Jaxx character (who was more of a secondary character in the play). I will agree that Tom Cruise did not strike me as the best fit for the role. Looking forward to seeing it despight him.
