AnnaSophia Robb is your young Carrie Bradshaw"Sex and the City" prequel "The Carrie Diaries" has found its young Carrie in 18-year-old actress AnnaSophia Robb, Entertainment Weekly reports. Robb, who's previously starred in "Soul Surfer" and 2005's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" as Violet, will portray the teen version of the infamous "Sex and the City" character, portrayed in her older years on HBO by Sarah Jessica Parker. ("Running Wilde's" Stefania Owen has been cast in "The Carrie Diaries" as Carrie's 14-year-old sister Dorrit.) The CW has ordered a pilot for the show, which will be executive produced by "Gossip Girl" team Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, as well as former "SATC" writer/producer Amy B. Harris, among others. The concept, like "Sex and the City," is based on the work of author Candace Bushnell, and follows Bradshaw during her high school years in the '80s.

I agree! I am a big fan of SATC (the series). The two movies did nothing for me and it seems this new series will do the same. As far as the casting goes...this is BAD. Women fell in love with Carrie because she is an average looking women. She does not have your typical "perfect" Hollywood face that is so out of reach for most women to relate to. They better throw a MAJOR perm in this chicks hair because she is far from the Carrie Bradshaw I fell in love with.

Ok, whether SJP is gorgeous is up for debate, but anyone who has ever went to high school knows one thing, if you ARE gorgeous, your experience is different. This girl is your typical beautiful blonde. SJP is more uniquely pretty. I'm not trying to pick on anyone, but the casting directors are IDIOTS. Pick someone a little less "off the rack."

One thing I really liked about SATC was that carrie was pretty (in my opinion) but had a different look. She had her really good moments and then she had not so great moments. She isn't the typical beauty. This girl is so typial! She is really beautiful and I don't think she should be carrie. Carrie isn't perfect, she looks not so great at times and makes mitakes. I'm really not sure what young star could fill in Sarah Jessica's shoes. Sarah is so unique!

Hey all ... how one looks is not chosen, it's random. Some are lucky, some are not, but to continually mock those that aren't 'perfect' is cruel, and a waste of time. Beauty is not an achievement! It's a lucky break. Move on....

I agree with Celina, please let this show DIE already and move on........I've heard of squeezing every last drop out of a show in all variations but this ??? Enough is enough. Seriously, the adventures of Carrie Bradshaw in high school ? What next ? a spinoff with Samantha in her college years ?
As for the girl, she's cute and attractive....hope she'll get a better job than the role of Teen Carrie.
If one has nothing nice to say, one should say nothing at all. Many ways to comment on the lack of resemblance without being critical of Sarah Jessica Parker. Really? Just for today...be kind. Might find you feel better about yourself, might even be kind tomorrow as well. Imagine that.

I don't know what all the fuss about SJP looking like a horse is; I find her really attractive. In fact I've had a crush on her since the 70's when I was a little kid and went to see Annie on broadway. I still recall reading the playbill over and over again and staring at her picture. I mean, yeah she had sort of masculine features......and I am gay, so.......hey....wait just a second.........

Oh please let this series die already! I used to LOVE this show, enjoyed the first movie...the 2nd was a train-wreck though. Now they've cast a young woman who looks NOTHING like SJP (this girl is much prettier) and we are supposed to watch this prequel and somehow manage NOT to constantly pay attention to this prequel and think "she looks nothing like Carrie!"? I'll pass on this one.
So this story is how Carrie started out beautiful and had a facial accident? I don't know what these casting people think... NO resemblance... I agree with The Stable Called.
