Ahead of the curve: Weekly pop culture calendar

Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston are back in theaters with a new comedy this week.

The two co-star in "Wanderlust," in which they play a Manhattan couple who pack up for a new, less expensive home and wind up in a hippie community where free love rules. Justin Theroux, Malin Akerman and Alan Alda also star.

"Wanderlust" comes to theaters on Friday, February 24. Here's what else you shouldn't miss this week:

Sunday

  • It's "The Simpsons" 500th episode, and they've been banished from Springfield! Julian Assange also makes a guest appearance. Watch it tonight at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
  • Ricky Gervais will guest voice on "The Family Guy" as a talking dolphin who moves in with the Griffins. Catch his appearance at 9 p.m. ET on Fox.
  • A new season of Donald Trump's "Celebrity Apprentice" premieres tonight. The contestants include Arsenio Hall; Clay Aiken; Cheryl Tiegs; Debbie Gibson; Adam Carolla; Lisa Lampanelli; and Penn Jillette. Watch it at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.

Monday

  • It's down to four contestants on "The Bachelor," and in this episode Ben visits their hometowns to meet their parents. Watch it at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
  • Ted makes a personal declaration about how he feels about Robin, which shocks her. Don't miss "How I Met Your Mother" at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.

Tuesday

  • You can help save "Cougar Town" from its abysmal ratings by watching it at 8:30 p.m. ET on ABC, where Jules tries to decide on who will be her maid of honor.
  • The Warblers and New Directions finally go head-to-head at Regionals on an all-new episode of "Glee" at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
  • Books coming out today include "The Ten, Make That Nine, Habits of Very Organized People. Make That Ten: The Tweets of Steve Martin," by Steve Martin; "The Technologists," by Matthew Pearl; "Watergate," by Thomas Mallon; and "In-Flight Entertainment," by Helen Simpson.
  • Movies out on Blu-ray and DVD today are "Puss in Boots"; "Tower Heist"; "J. Edgar"; "Martha Marcy May Marlene"; "The Way"; and the seventh season of "Weeds."
  • New music arriving today includes "Voice of Ages," by The Chieftains; "Some Nights," by Fun; "Reign of Terror," by Sleigh Bells; "How About I Be Me (And You Be You)," by Sinead O'Connor; "Diana Ross 1976: Special Edition," by Diana Ross; and the "Act of Valor" soundtrack featuring Keith Urban, Sugarland and Lady Antebellum.

Wednesday

  • Mario Lopez will guest star on "Are You There, Chelsea?" as himself when Dee Dee reveals to Chelsea that she named her pillow "Mario Lopez." Watch this episode at 8:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
  • Catch the season 3 finale of "Royal Pains," where Hank struggles to accept Jack's illness, at 10 p.m. ET on USA.

Thursday

  • Catch all-new episodes of "30 Rock," "Parks and Recreation," "The Office" and "Up All Night," starting at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
  • The remaining semifinalists will be revealed on "American Idol" at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.

Friday

  • Movies coming to theaters are "Gone" with Amanda Seyfried, Jennifer Carpenter and Wes Bentley; Tyler Perry's "Good Deeds" with Perry, Thandie Newton and Gabrielle Union; and "Act of Valor."
