Ahead of the curve: Weekly pop culture calendar

You think Jacob and Edward's battle over Bella in "Twilight" was intense? Well, Chris Pine and Tom Hardy take it to a whole other level in "This Means War."

Best friends and deadly CIA operatives, the two men meet their match when they fall for the same woman, played by Reese Witherspoon. They end up using their extensive training and expertise to fight for her affection. How lucky can a woman get?

"This Means War" comes out in theaters on February 17. Here's what else you shouldn't miss this week:


  • Get prepped for Valentine's Day the day before! Watch love-themed episodes of "How I Met Your Mother," "Two and a Half Men" and "Mike & Molly" starting at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.


  • "Cougar Town" is finally back! Catch the much-awaited third season premiere, where Jules and Grayson run into a bit of trouble, at 8:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
  • Jeff Goldblum and Brian Stokes Mitchell will guest star on the V-Day episode of "Glee" as Rachel's dads. Watch this episode at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
  • In books releasing today, there's "Private Games" by James Patterson; "Full Service: My Adventures in Hollywood and the Secret Sex Lives of the Stars" by Scotty Bowers; "I've Got Your Number" by Sophie Kinsella of "Shopaholic" fame; and "Unorthodox: The Scandalous Rejection of My Hasidic Roots” by Deborah Feldman.
  • Music albums coming out are "Air: The Bach Album" by Anne Akiko Meyers, Steven Mercurio and English Chamber Orchestra; "As the Crow Flies" by Amos Lee; "Who's Feeling You Now?" by Punch Brothers; and "Heart" by Audrey Assad.
  • Coming out on Blu-ray are "The Rum Diary"; "Beavis & Butthead: Volume 4"; "Human Centipede II: Full Sequence"; "Take Shelter" and "Doctor Who: The Doctor, The Widow and the Wardrobe."


  • The 24th edition of "Survivor" premieres, where 18 castaways on a Samoan beach will have to fight to survive for $1 million. Catch the season premiere at 8 p.m. ET om CBS.
  • Catch new episodes of "Suburgatory," "Modern Family" and "Happy Endings" starting at 8: 30 p.m. ET on ABC.


  • Talk about a flashback to the '90s! Alanis Morissette will guest star on "Up All Night" as Ava's former band mate at 9:30 p.m. ET on NBC.


  • Catch the NAACP Image Awards at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
  • Movies coming out this week are "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" with Nicholas Cage, "Bullhead," "The Spirit of Arriety" and "Undefeated."


  • Maya Rudolph will host "Saturday Night Live" with musical guest Sleigh Bells at 11:29 p.m. ET on NBC.

    I suppose this kinda movie gets props for being original... as for the quality we'll have to see. It does beat recycled themes.
