#FavoriteWhitneySong: What's yours?Trying to single out just one of Whitney Houston's songs as an all-time favorite feels like an impossible task: For so many of us, she provided the soundtrack to a number of memorable moments in our lives. On Twitter Saturday night, #FavoriteWhitneySong was trending as fans shared some of their beloved tunes. Over the course of her career, Houston collected six Grammys, was the first artist to have seven consecutive No. 1 hits, and was undoubtedly the singer who influenced many of the pop stars we hear today. But if we had to choose some of our favorite Houston songs, the list would surely include her smash from "The Bodyguard" soundtrack, "I Will Always Love You." [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8QaI-M9sxW4&w=480&h=360%5D
Dolly Parton, who wrote the song, said in a statement, "mine is only one of the millions of hearts broken over the death of Whitney Houston. I will always be grateful and in awe of the wonderful performance she did on my song and I can truly say from the bottom of my heart, 'Whitney, I will always love you. You will be missed.'" That's not to mention some of her earlier cuts, like "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eH3giaIzONA%5D ...And "How Will I Know." [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3-hY-hlhBg&w=480&h=360%5D And last but not least, her 1991 performance at the Super Bowl, which has been a gold standard for performing the national anthem for years: [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wupsPg5H6aE&w=480&h=360%5D The Recording Academy, which is preparing for Sunday's 54th Grammy Awards, said in a statement, "Whitney Houston was one of the world's greatest pop singers of all time who leaves behind a robust musical soundtrack spanning the past three decades. Her powerful voice graced many memorable and award-winning songs. A light has been dimmed in our music community today, and we extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, fans and all who have been touched by her beautiful voice." So tell us: What are your favorite Whitney Houston songs? |

Where Do Broken Hearts Go; You're All the Man I Need; I Have Nothing; just about anything she sang.
Still can't get over it. I am not usually so emotionally affected by "celebrity" deaths, but this one . . . it just really got to me.
Anything Whitney sings is beautiful because her voice is so powerful. But if I had to choose one that is tremendously inspiring, it's One Moment in Time.
SORRY MY FAVORITE SONGS ARE: I HAVE NOTHING AND I WANT TO RUN TO YOU...MY TYPING FINGERS RAN A LITTLE TO QUICK! LOL.
I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU WAS WRITTEN BY DOLLY PARTON AND DOLLY DID GREAT SONG WRITING IN THOSE DAYS.....HOWEVER MY FAVORITE SONG IS I HAVE NOTHING AND I WANT TO RUN TO YOU.
I should say "Will always love you", but back in the days I really went crazy for "I'm your baby tonight".For that end of year party I wore the same kind of dress (had it tailored!!!), hairdo, lipstick etc etc as she had in the video. I felt like a star.
Greatest Love of All, was my favorite. But it is soooo hard to choose.
my favorite of all her songs, ONE MOMENT IN TIME....................................that has got to be the BEST !!!
My favor songs are: Didn't almost have it all . All her music is amazing.
The Greatest Love of All
My favorite song ... one of them 🙂 "Love is a Contact Sport," off of her second album. The 2nd album, Whitney and I'm Your Baby Tonight were my favorites.
I meant she could sing the phone book and IT would have been awesome !!!!!!
The women could sing the Phone book and i would have been awesome .You can not pic just one song RIP
The Greatest Love of All
My favs: National Anthem, You give good love. Gosh, there are so many but i will have to say her gospel songs always spoke to my spirit and brought tears to my eyes: HE'S ALL OVER ME, AND He's KEEPING ME ALIVE she sung that with Pastor Shirley Ceasar, JOY TO THE WORLD (no one could sing that like WHitney) and I'm HASTEN to HIS throne...just the thought of her singing it brings tears to my eyes.
I love the the Lord, he heard my cry
And pitied every groan, long as I, I live
And troubles rise, I hasten to his throne
Chorus:
Oh, I love the Lord
I sure do, surely do love the Lord
He heard, he heard my cry
And pitied every groan, yes he did
Every groan
Long as I live, long as I, I live
And troubles rise, troubles rise
I hasten to to to to to
I'll hasten, I'll hasten to his throne
I'll hasten to his throne hold on hold on
Tears are streaming down my eyes
[ From: http://www.metrolyrics.com/i-love-the-lord-lyrics-whitney-houston.html ]
I'll hasten, I'll hasten to his throne
Yes I will, I'll run
I know I can go to his throne
I know I can go, I know I can go
I'll hasten, I'm gonna run
I know I can go, I know I can go
I'll hasten, I'll hasten to his throne
See I can run, Lord you know I will
When there is nowhere to go I know I can go to you
I know I can run to you oh
I'll hasten, I'll hasten to his, his throne
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
I'll hasten, hasten to his throne
Surely gonna be here
Howdy, I stumbled upon your web site by way of Yahoo even while hunting for a related topic, your site came out, it appears great. I've bookmarked it at my google book mark
I love all of Whitney's songs, as hard as I've tried I just can't pick a fovorite. I love them all
"I Will Always Love You" – I love the disco version of that too!
"The Greatest Love"..a song that reminded us to love ourselves..."it is the greatest love of all"
"I Will Always Love You" hands down. That high note is ridiculous and her power in that song gives me chills.
Haters go on back to hell where you came from,....I really don't believe you'll have to worry about running back into Whitney there, OK? You evil trolls!
It's one of her songs
Man ur pathetic
I get so emotional, baby, every time that I think of you
My favorite songs that Whitney sang were " I Will Always Love You " and " The National Anthem".
The first time I heard "that voice" was in 1984, a year before her first album was released. The song was "Hold Me", a duet with Teddy Pendergrass. I couldn't get over that voice. The DJ annouced it was Teddy Pendergrass featuring Whitney Houston. I wanted to know who was Whitney Houston? Little did I know it would a name I would never forget.
I would have to say that my favorite song is "Miracle"....That song has gotten me through so much adversity in my life... RIP Whitney. You are loved and missed.
There will be a long line outside Whitney Houston's funeral next week....which is funny because that's what probably killed her
You are so DISRESPECTFUL. That crap ain't funny. She was human and has a family. Damn, she made some mistakes in her life. get over it. She ain't the first person do drugs and she won't be the last. The important thing is that she was taking steps to get her life together.
I had a crazy crush on this woman! Rest in peace beautiful! We are all heading there......
I hope he pulled the knife out and didn't leave it in
My fav is I will always love you.
"All At Once". Cried when I heard it the first time when I was a teenager and just had my heart broken. Still cry a little bit when I hear it now. RIP Ms Houston!
My favorite(s) are: 1. "Run to You" (from 'The Bodyguard'), 2. "Same Script, Different Cast" (with Deborah Cox), and 3. 'It isn't, it wasn't, it ain't never gonna be' (with Aretha Franklin)
Where do Broken Hearts Go? She has found her way home. My heart goes out to her little girl and Mom.
If I had to pick one, it would probably be "My Love is Your Love" – surprised I'm not seeing that much on here....
And iiiiiiiiiiiiiiii will always love craaaaaaaaaaaaack!
Yeah, that was hilarious and original (sarc). Get help.
Poor thing. Lonely, uh? Got get some...The harshest critics are those who secretly do the same as the criticized. Yes indeed, remember "the scarlet letter"? Just like that. For them is a way to say 'look! someone is worse than me,so I am ok'.
I Wanna Dance With Somebody – always make me feel upbeat and happy. What a superb voice. I am so sad about her passing. She will never be forgotten.
"One Moment In Time" always lifts my spirits and resolve to face what lies ahead. So very sad to lose such an awesome talent and voice. I was waiting daily for her comeback to the musical stage. Will enjoy the music of hers I do have and be eternally grateful for it.
"Queen of the Night" – Whit tore that one up from the floor.
I would have to say "Didn't We Almost Have it All". Rest in Peace Whitney Houston.
I have numerous Favorite Songs that Whitney sang. A couple of my favoriete: I Will Always Love You, Run to You, The Greatest Love of All and my Main Favoite I Love the Lord. Whiteny background was Spiritual and Gospel Music. She Was and Will Always be the Gold Standard. She had a God Gift her voice that touch anyone who could listen and her. My favorite and most memorable & meaningful for me is "The Greatest Love of All". Whitney was a gift we all will treasure forever. Rest in Peace great singer.
For The Love Of You. The Greatest Love of You. Saving All My Love For You
My favorite song, I want to dance with somebody who loves me, hands down- it showed Whitney in the best years of her storied but tragic life, I was stationed in Germany with the Canadian Army when that video first came out and I loved it. She was so vibrant and beautiful in that video, I am shedding a tear thinking about it now.....that being said, during the first Gulf war, when she sang your National Anthem it brought a shiver down my spine watching it and hearing it and at the same time being a tiny bit jealous...that we had no one sing " O' Canada" with the same passion and grace at that time. RIP Whitney 🙁
My favorite Whitney Houston ballad of ALL-TIME no doubt: SAVING ALL MY LOVE FOR YOU!
Always will be missed.R.I.P
Bij ons was je goed, bij de Here ben je beter.RIP whitney we wil always love you
The best song, everfor me is WHERE DO BROKEN HEARTS GO. It is the question I often ask myself. Since 1980 after the death of my little sister
I loved the Greatest love of all and wanted to sing it with her one day now not possible. This is very sad. I sing too., people say alike to her in her format. Thank you for all the music it was great .
I will always love you is one of my favorite. To her daughter I feel your pain I lost my ma. God only knew her pain. I believe God purpose an award of life no suffering no judgement and she accept. Knowing she love you with all her heart but she knew the gospel and she took his hand. She left you in great hands her mom Cissy. Im bless to have a aunt thats related to you as well I love you aunt stephaine and deuna
A beautifil and extrordinary voiced extinguished too soon. My deepest sympathy to Bobbi Kristina, Cissy , family, friends and fans. Through the mercy of God, R.I.P. Whitney Elizabeth -Amen.
THE GREATEST LOVE OF ALL – what a voice... Now rest in peace. You can now sing to God. He gave you a beautiful talent and you used it. Millions still love you...... May your family and fans have this special time to mourn and remember the singer
you ARE. Very heart broken...... LOVE YOU
I was absolutely devastated this morning after getting a text from a friend saying Whitney died. It's like he stabbed me.. I was just about to listen to a few of her classic live performances, which I do to cheer myself up. Her strength, her elegance, her spirit, her sincerity.. She's always inspired me to use what God has blessed me with and share with the rest of the world, giving my best and always stay true to who u r. All of Whitney's songs are favorites, yet I'd say 'I Will Always Love You', 'I Have Nothing' and 'My Love Is Your Love'. Dear Nippy, I pray God will give u second chance. Rest in peace beautiful Soul and Voice.

I wanna dance
An artist of Whitney Houston's magnitude performed songs that became the soundtrack of the lives of so many of her fans since she hit the scene in the 80's. My favorite song as a Vietnam Era Veteran would undoubtably be her rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner" at the Superbowl which will never be topped. But all of her songs from "I Want To Dance With Somebody" to "The Greatest Love" to "I Will Always Love You" have impacted all of use at those times in our lives that the songs were released. The spirit of her life on this earth will always remain.
I can't necessarily pick a favorite but heartbreak hotel was def.a banger!! R.I.P. Whitney-

National Enquirer (yeah, I know they aren't highly reputed reporters) reported last year, 2011, that Whitney Houston was headed for a "terrible death" with an emphysema diagnosis. She fair ruled at singin'. Too late for goodbye.
A House A Home
My all time favorite is her duet with Aretha: It Isn't, It Wasn't, It Ain't Never Gonna Be!
MTVJams and VH1Soul have a marathon of Whitney Houston songs on right now. They're playing all the favorites...including the National Anthem. I've always wanted to get that on tape and now I have it. RIP Whitney.
Wth... i can't believe she dead, i grew up listening to her beautiful songs and loved her in the BODYGAURD, she was a very gorgeous lady and despite the hardship she put herself through i still enjoyed her beauty. ="( I will miss her and I'm in shocked to hear her voice silenced
There isn't a song I didn't love by Whitney and one of my favorites is her most recent Millon Dollar Bill. She was an amazing artist, performer and will be missed so very much. My heart and prayers go out to her family and friends. She is singing with the angels now.
National Anthem Superbowl 1991
Whitney – you will always live in the fabric of pop music. Your music is legend...your charm and grace – iconic. I was in my 20's when your music hit the scene. I danced to all of your hits...the floor was always packed...and everyone smiled during your songs. Your gift was great...but your star burned out too soon. I guess God wanted to keep your voice to Himself.
Thank you, Whitney – you will never been forgotten. Thank you for making my 20's so fun. God bless you.
Fav Song: Heartbreak Hotel with Kelly Price & Faith Evans
So Emotional, which is the way I feel right now.She had one of the greatest pop voices of all time.
Get a whole of yourself. I spoke to God and he said you're going downstairs. Satan choose you as the fire pusher.

Guess we knew Whitney and she gave us this beautiful music –and for that we love her and grieve that her life was plagued with demons and now she is gone. Her spirit flies free now but we do hope that those who still suffer from demons of drugs and violence and warfare all the other demon torturers of this world can get free without having to die to get there.
How Will I Know is my favorite song by Whitney, even though whenever I listen to it from today onward, there will be a tinge of sadness to it. Rest in Peace.
that msg was for – Aeril
So many amazing songs, she had talent unmatched. Not sure if it's my favorite, but I love "Count on Me' off the Waiting to Exhale soundtrack. So deeply sorry to her family for their painful loss. The world lost a truly gifted human being today.
STFU-typical woman. Pick a fav song like the topic indicated and stop being a kunt. We have enough of the likes of you on here.
We love you rest in peace
Wow, Wow, What a voice, Deep love to the Houston Family, " May You Sleep In Peace "! Looking Forward to seeing You In The Resurrection!!! John 5: 28, 29!!!!
That is the resurrection that will take place here on earth!!!!
Thank you dear. People think she's already in Heaven.
I grew up listening to her music and always thought she had such a beautiful and poweful voice. So hard to choose a favorite song but I have always loved "Greatest Love of All", "One Moment In Time" and "Didnt We Almost Have It All". Another one is "I Wanna Dance With Somebody"-I can remember being very young, and my friends and I choreographing dance moves for this song which I still remember to this day! She was a very talented person and its very sad that her life turned so tragic. Rest In Peace now!
She's the greatest of all time. No one EVER sang the Star Spangled Banner better than Whitney! No one ever will. The Greatest Love of All also gives me chills (both on the iPod). Your legacy will live on in perpetuity- NO ONE will EVER best you on the national anthem!
This is a truly tragic and devastating loss! RIP Whitney!
Thoughts and prayers go out to Whitney Houston's friends and family during this tragic time. The music industry wouldn't be the same without her. My favorite Whitney Houston song is One Of Those Days.
The Greatest Love of all! RIP sweet lady Remeber the good old days in the Oranges in New Jersey
'All The Man That I Need' with the soaring gospel choir in the background toward the end of the song...will always give me goosebumps. But WOW...she had so many great, great songs.
"One Moment in Time" helped me through a very sad, emotional and overwhelming time of dealing with an extremely painful divorce and learning that my children were victimized by their father to the ultimate degree". This song gave hope and strength to keep pushing on. Now, my children are married and I have 18 grandchildren, with the oldest soon to be 19 and the youngest 5 months of age. Of course her peformance in the Bodyguard with the song, "I will always love you just fills my heart and is also a song of faith and courage to those who recognize a love that cannot be!". I personally will miss her for as she struggled with her own issues and demons, I believe in my heart that she also gave so much inspiration, comfort and hope to others who also struggled. Her legacy should be one that exemplifies her beautiful and powerful voice along with the inspiration she gave to so many. My prayers go to her family members, to close friends and her second family in the entertainment world who loved her as well. God bless all of us for she will be missed dearly, however, her music will live on and I am grateful for the music which was a true gift to me." With Sincere Heartfelt Thoughts Gail Marie
I love all if her songs!!!

It's very hard to choose. Probably a tie between I Will Always Love You and Run To You. I remember at 12 getting my very first Seventeen magazine and Whitney Houston was on the cover back during her modeling days. I remember thinking how absolutely beautiful she was. Rest in peace Whitney, heaven has another angel tonight.

CONSTANTLY on CNN's front page, still being reported now. So how about ya be quiet.
Let me guess. Your a racist mad that this black woman won so many awards and dominated the 80's. & 90's with Michael Jackson. You're mad because she's dominating the press tonight. You're mad because she's shutting down the Grammy's tomorrow. You're mad because her funeral will probably be televised. You're mad because you hate the fact that black people are so talented and you are forced to bow down and recognize. Black people stay winning. If you don't like having talented, rich black people in America, please leave. If Elvis had died again, you wouldn't be saying jack.
Syria and all the freaking wars are constantly on all news. Haters like you are constantly bothering others. Just go away, enroll in a peace mission to Syria and stay there. Jeeeeezzz, worse than flies.
I will always love you.......... has to be my all time favorite song of hers followed closely by I wanna dance with somebody... Both hold special places in my heart. I grew up listening to her songs! So sad to see the end of such a wonderful voice!
"One Moment In Time", "I Have Nothing", "I Will Always Love You" and "Greatest Love of All"
My favorite song is "All the Man I Need". Prayers for her family. Just got finished watching youtube video of Whitney with Bobbi Kristina, she really loved her baby.
I Have Nothing; Miracle: Lover for Life; national anthem; so many...
Absolutely love.... n will 100 percent miss whitney...

You give good love is my fav!
My favorite Whitney Houston song is "So Emotional" and "I Will Always Love You"...I'm so sad for her family and especially her daughter.
Don't know why that no one has mentioned "Waiting to Exhale"-totally touched my soul.
So true, she had some amazing songs on the Waiting to Exhale soundtrack, love the song, "Why Does it Hurt so Bad" and Exhale (Shoop, Shoop)
Its hard to figure out which was my favorite song by Whitney. So I would say "Baby Tonight" and "You Give Good Love".......wow just cant believe it...in shock
Oooo... Good one!!!
Mine is luck be a crackheads tonight lol
that is insulting and not funny at a time like have more consideration for her despite her past she was still a beautiful woman
Wow-you lack empathy. A human being lost her life today and even if it is due to alcohol and drug use--who are you to judge her? She has a daughter who is grieving and probably in shock right now. Anytime someone dies who have had a troubled part to thier lives, the public and media attacks them. I am sure there will hundreds of stories out there about her untimely and unfortunate death, but why speculate? Leave it be and have some respect for her and her family.
What a crass comment. A loser with a huge inferiority comment would be my guess. I am sure each and every person on these boards has had troubles, stumbles in their lives, just not hounded 24 hours a day by press, splashed all over newspapers, magazines and television. Show a little respect and class!
Hold Me – Whitney Houston and Teddy Pendergrass
It is so hard to pick just ONE favorite song but for me "One Moment In Time" like the National Anthem is such a powerful song. When she performed it live at the Grammys in 2009 It was such a profound moment. The words to the song took on a whole new meaning that night....and the last line of the song, "I will be free." takes on a whole new meaning tonight. Whitney, you are now free! Thank you God for the gift of Whitney Houston!
I agree the national athem...i listen 2 it all the time n watch the video n youtube
My favrit song by her is 'proud mary'. Rest in peace miss houston.
"Proud Mary" was sung by Tina Turner.
You're confusing Whitney with Tina Turner
Please play some of her spiritual music that she sang. I look to you; I didn't know my own strength those were beautiful songs that define her darkest moments.
NATIONAL ANTHEM....... no one has ever done it like her and never will...sleep well Whitney
I'm shocked at her death. My fav.. song.."I Will Always Love You".. R.I.P.
My favorite is "I will always love you", followed closely by "All the man that I need". RIP Angel!
My fav is the national anthem......NO ONE has or will sing it better
your so right...she brought me to tears and still does.. we are blessed to have had her in our life's
While Miss Huston had many great hits, I agree that her version of the National Anthem will still bring tears to my eyes and shivers all over. Her's was and always will be the best version. RIP dear lady.
Favorites son(s): national anthem and "I Look 2u" SHE WAS SAVED, SO ONE DAY I WILL MEET U ON THE OTHER SIDE. REST IN PEACE, WHITNEY!
" I Will Always Love You" WHITNEY HOUSTON GONE HOME TO GLORY! Rest In Peace Whitney Houston! You Didn't Know When, You Didn't Know Where and You Didn't Know How, But You Were Ready! God Love Is To Call You Home...God Don't Make Mistakes! God Bless You and Your Family, Amen.
Completely agree! Hard to believe that was 21 years ago!
The National Anthem
This world will truly miss hearing Whitney beautiful voice and radiant smile. I want all who read this to know, if they don't already she not only a great singer; but a very generous person. When she sang the National Anthem at an Atlanta Braves Baseball Game and the recording were sold; she asked all proceeds go directly to the soldiers and their families during Operation Desert Storm. I know this for a fact, because I was blessed to be a recipient. I was paying back an over payment by the US Army in monthly installments. After a few payments I received a letter say "...your debt has been paid in full ...by donations received from Ms. Houston..." As I reflex on Ms. Houston's generosity, I can on here the word to the theme from the "Body Guard”; “…I must go.." She had to leave us and go to heaven. I am move by her talent as a singer, commitment as a mother, patriotism and love for people she didn’t know personally. People will tell our stories of how Whitney's singing made us feel; I can say a soldier how I feel - she truly cared. Thank you Whitney and I look forward to hearing you in heaven someday.
Whitney Houston beautiful women with a extrodinary voice. I loved her music and loved her in all the movies she was in. My uncle and friends were in her movie The Preachers Wife and I was told she was along with her mom, Lionel Richie and many others were a pleasure to work with. It saddens my heart to hear of death. Another musical artist gone so early in life. My heart goes out to her family. Whitny "I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU".........R.I.P.
UNBELIEVABLE VOICE from the Heavens... SO SO EARLY IN LIFE TO LEAVE THIS EARTH.
Which we will NEVER EVER see another person with it.
TRULY TRULY WILL BE MISSED,TOO SURREAL. THE GREATEST VOICE OF ALL TIME HAS LEFT US BUT WE'RE BLESSED TO LISTEN HER RECORDINGS SHE HAS BLESSED US WITH. MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY WHITNEY.
"So Emotional" was one of my favorites. We will miss you sooooo much Whitney...your voice was the standard of perfection. *deep sigh*
You are so right about her doing the national anthem as a staple now of star performances at not just the Super Bowl, but other important events as well. I will miss Whitney Houston deeply. When I heard last evening around 8 on MSNBC, I thought it was rumors. I became saddened as the night went on and confrmations began to come that she had indeed passed on. My favorite song is " I Have Nothing." Rest In Peace, Whitney. We will miss you.
Yes, her version of the National Anthem is THE BEST. But my favorite will always be "One Moment in Time" a reminder of a 6th grade classmate who knew what she wanted to do at such a young age. Hearing the conviction in her voice gave me goosebumps. Donna wanted to run in the Olympics. She set records, and I am convinced that she would have made it in 1980. She made it to the finals in 1984 and ran against the gold medalist. Thanks for the memories Donna and Whitney.

Agreed, her rendition of national anthem was amazing; her best song of all
All of Ms. Houston's songs were great. My personal favorite is from her second album, 1987's "Whitney". I liked most of the songs on that album, but my personal favorite will always be "Just the Lonely Talking Again". I also loved her duets with Teddy Pendergrass ["Hold Me" kills me] & Jermaine Jackson: their version of "Nobody Loves Me Like You Do" and "Take Good Care of My Heart" from 1985's "Whitney Houston". Her duet with Jermaine on his "Precious Moments" LP, "If You Say My Eyes Are Beautiful" is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever had the pleasure to hear. She was a beautiful lady with a gorgeous voice, yet her soul was so troubled. My heart aches for her mother, Cissy, her brothers, and especially her daughter, Bobbi Kristina. Wherever Whitney is now, I hope she is resting in peace.
Whitney Houston glowed. There wasn't anything she couldn't sing that didn't sound like it came from the heavens above.
Absolutely! She sang that one for ALL of us.
YOU ARE SO RIGHT...she was the best
Whitney was undoubtedly at her best in live singing...which is why her renditions of "All the Man that I Need" are my favorite by her live....I Love the Lord is by far my favorite studio recording.
I feel the loss...my favorite and tear jerker was I will always love you! Her singing of the National Anthem will always tear at my heart as she so personalized it. You felt what she felt...I love her and always will and be a deep missed friend.
