Ahead of the curve: Weekly pop culture calendar

Ricky Martin is certainly “Livin’ La Vida Loca” on “Glee.”

The Latin pop singer will guest star on the show as Spanish teach David Martinez, helping New Directions and Will Schuester.

Watch Martin shake it on Tuesday at 8pm ET on Fox.

Here's what else you shouldn't miss this week:


  • If watching the Patriots and Giants go head-to-head in the Super Bowl is not your thing, then you can catch an all new episode of “Downton Abbey” at 9pm ET on PBS.
  • Right after the game is the season 2 premiere of “The Voice” at 10pm ET on NBC.


  • If “Glee” does not satisfy your musical drama quota, catch the series premiere of “Smash” at 10pm ET on NBC. The show stars Katherine McPhee, Debra Messing and Anjelica Huston.
  • Also catch a new episode of “Castle” at 10pm ET on ABC.


  • When a TV explorer goes missing in the Amazon, his wife goes to find him in the pilot episode of “The River.” Steven Spielberg executive produces the show, to air at 9pm ET on ABC.
  • It’s NCIS’ 200th episode. Check it out at 8pm ET on CBS.
  • What to read? “Left for Dead” by J.A. Jance, “Hilarity Ensues” by Tucker Max, “The Vow: The True Events that Inspired the Movie” by Kim Carpenter, “Hiding from Reality: My Story of Live, Loss, and Finding the Courage Within,” by Taylor Armstrong and “A Good American” by Alex George all come out today.
  • Out on DVD: “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part I,” “Downton Abbey” season 2, and “Lady and the Tramp,” the diamond edition come out today.
  • Albums to look out for include, “A Different Kind of Truth” by Van Halen, “Kisses on the Bottom” by Paul Mccartney, “Scars & Stories” by The Fray and “Isn’t it Romantic” by Tony Bennett.


  • William Devane will guest star on “Revenge” as Conrad’s father on tonight's episode.


  • It’s going to be a Valentine’s Day-themed Thursday! Catch all-new "30 Rock” at 8pm ET on NBC, “Up All Night” at 9:30pm ET on NBC, and “Grey’s Anatomy” at 9pm ET on ABC.


  • Movie night! “The Vow,” “Journey 2,” “Safe House,” “In Darkness,” “Rampart,” and “Perfect Sense” all come out this weekend.


  • Zooey Deschanel will host “Saturday Night Live” with musical guest Karmin at 11:29pm ET on NBC.

    You know Crazy Sign, I must admit it was better than I expected. Not great, but ok. I dont see how I missed the middle finger incident though. From media reports you would think MIA had a 10ft finger that reached through your television & slapped you silly. Better than last year any way look at it

      Hey Sokman! I tuned in at 1/2 time. I thought her 1st song was a bit slow. After that, she did pretty good. I was surprised to see her joined on stage by a few other celeb's, too. I liked the ending, reminded me of the wicked witch exiting munchkin land! Lol!
