Could the 'Twilight' saga continue? Now that Lionsgate has acquired Summit Entertainment, the top exec at the studio is hoping that Summit Entertainment's "Twilight Saga" franchise has a bit more life left in it. Adapted from Stephenie Meyer's four-book fiction series, "The Twilight Saga" was broken out into five films, with the fifth, "Breaking Dawn - Part 2," arriving in theaters this November. And although that would signal the end of Bella and Edward's tale being translated to film, the chief executive of Lionsgate appears nonetheless optimistic that they'll somehow be able to extend the story.
"I'm anticipating 'Breaking Dawn - Part II' being $700 million-plus in worldwide box office," the exec, Jon Feltheimer, told the L.A. Times. "It's hard for me to imagine a movie that does $700 million-plus doesn't have ongoing value." But before you get up in arms, recognize this sounds more like wishful thinking - Feltheimer is even hopeful about the idea of a "Twilight" TV show. "It's an amazing franchise that they have done a great job of maintaining with absolutely no deterioration," he said, adding that the "simple answer" to the question of whether "Twilight" would continue at Lionsgate in some way being, "Boy, I hope so." Are you hoping for the same? And if so, where else could the story go? |

I do agree with all the ideas you've presented for your post. They're very convincing and will definitely work. Still, the posts are very brief for newbies. Could you please prolong them a bit from subsequent time? Thanks for the post.
I adore how these kinds of dating sites suitable these scorching chicks in their advertisements, along with the actual people are like a well balanced. Not a pimps stable, both.
Thank you a bunch for sharing this with all folks you actually understand what you are speaking approximately! Bookmarked. Kindly additionally consult with my site =). We will have a hyperlink trade agreement among us
Ohh please make another movie maybe about Jacob and renesmee or what happens to Leah does she ever imprint on someone and more Edward and Bella and the rest of the Cullens
Yes please, I would LOVE to see a TV Series, or see the books continued on. As for plot, maybe after Breaking Dawn?
yes or not doesn't matter.. what really matters is that whenever anything Twilight goes on, there are two hundreds comments on each post from "lovers" and "haters" as well:) ..dogs bark but the caravan goes on... and no, most of fans don't agree with the idea of making some kind of eternal soup opera out of it, the franchise is good as it, please, don't f it up. it made a lot of people happier and brought fresh blood to the lives..pun totally intended. it worth $ 2 billions and it worth every penny. take care, everyone:)
YES PLEASE!
Prequels on the story line of when the cullens became vampires and their storyline.
For the love of God, send the hom0 vampires packing. The world needs a real vampire, not ones that sparkle.
I think Stephanie Meyer should continue writing. The new book could pick up a few years later from the last book. It would be nice to see how things turn out with Jacob and Renesmee.
isnt the Twilight saga already a TV series...I beleive its called the Vampire Diaries...but yeah...i think enough is enough of the twilight saga and very bad vampire makeup...i prefer paul wesley's and ian somerhalder's brooding vampires...
Stephenie Meyer wrote a short novella called The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner in 2010, which focuses on the vampire life of a teenage girl depicted in one of the 'Saga' books, Eclipse. I can see them making a movie out of this. It was actually a good read. Other than that, I can't see where they could take the story unless they focus solely on Renesmee. I guess I just don't agree with them making movies/inventing stories when the original movies were adapted from the books, and there are no more books to adapt from.
I totally agree with you! If there aren't anymore books to adapt from then there shouldn't be any more because the other movies were adapted from books!
I'm a fan of the Twilight Saga book and movie series. The books are better than the movies but, I still enjoy the movies. That said, I don't really want to see a tv version of Twilight. I also think the movie series should end once Breaking Dawn Part 2 comes out. The only way I would want the series to continue is if Stephanie M. wrote another book. But, I can't see that happening, at this time. JMO
Please don't, we have enough reason hate television as it is.
Please stop sensationalizing this story about a pedophile vampire. Just because he looks 18 doesn't change the fact that he's over 100 years old, continually repeats high school to find young girls. If this guy was 30 and looked it he'd be in prison – yet most of you Twilight Lovers feel that this is "ok" because he doesn't look his age. It's a pedophile story – he should be vilified!
Inuyasha is the same way. Its a cartoon about a 200 year old demon-furry who wants to bang a 15 year old jailbait from the future. I'm not saying any of us wouldn't give Kagome the slamming she so obviously needs, but its still a bit weird to make a show about it.
Option 1 – Back stories. Flesh out Rosalie and Emmet, Alice and Jasper, Carlisle and Esme. What about Carlisle's time with the Volturi? What was the best thing about Godfather 2? Seeing Vito Corleone in the past, and how he came to be.
Option 2 – Star Wars was originally split up into 9 tales. 6 were made. But the Universe of Star Wars is so vast, so deep, that it has spread out into books, cartoons, video games, etc. Meyer would have to let go of her story and trust in the ARMY of writers who would take on her seemingly endless story. Sit back and count your $$$, Steph, and let the world enjoy your characters.
NOOOOOOO!!!!! Kill it with fire!!! An entire generation has been turned into zombies because of this drivel!
Twilight is the start of the zombie-apocalypse! It will be the end of us all.
But seriously, how can anyone watch these movies without scratching their eye's out?
Here's a novel idea, why not actually make four movies based on the four books? The problem with the public's perception of Twilight, overall, is the fact the movies lack the good parts of the texts; moreover, the movies rarely follow any aspects of the books (Breaking Dawn was the worst, yet).
True, the books aren't the greatest pieces of literature, but they really aren't terrible, they have many great qualities that make them readable for teens and even adults, but many new readers won't touch them because the movies are garbage. Keep the cast, pick one director, and hire someone who actually read the books to write the screenplay, so the books and movies will match.
I'd rather rip my heart right out of my ribcage with my bare hands and then throw it on the floor and stomp on it 'till I die then spend one minute dealing with the Twilight series.
I wouldn't look forward to it... as it is they took too long to put Breaking Dawn in the theatres and to top it off they are making you wait another year for II. People losing interest already because you make them wait too long. So to wait even longer for another movie or series, I don't think you would have the audience...
No, for the sake of all that is holy, no more horrific writing/movie making from these hacks! This series is some of the most dumbed-down writing in the history of published fiction. Please, no more!
Interesting....so now Lionsgate essentially owns both Twilight Saga and Hunger Games series......Sounds like they are becoming a big player fast!
It would never work if they couldn't get the original cast to all be in any other continuing story.
Sorry to Miss B!tchy, Mister Sparkles and Fluffy, but their time is up. We really should pull the plug on this already–there's more to life than sh!t-tastic characters, girls. If you want a boyfriend so badly, maybe we should put away the crap romance novels.... or even the good ones. Live life, these 'handsome' 'men' aren't coming to rescue you from your mundane lives, which would probably be less mundane if you tried living–and now we're back to the whole PUT THE BOOKS AWAY thing.
Don't forget the movies there... Really want those to burn in hell, more to Washington state than Forks and Twilight.
We told you this series sucked at the beginning, but did you people listen? Good god. THIS IS WHY AMERICANS SHOULD STOP WRITING THINGS. THE AMERICAN ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY SUCKS. And that's all there is to it. Please, PLEASE find someone with talent!!! Just because they have the money to produce these things doesn't mean they should be filling the stores!! Come ON!!
Oh no! instead of doing another movie of it, why not try other books that have a deeper story and characters?
this was a terrible book, made for a worse move, and a tv show would be far worse. end the madness. For the fans, you are going to kill the series.
I think that if Stephenie Meyer grew up a bit (how can she be 38?!) and wrote a very mature and serious book related to Twilight and not targeted to the teenage populace, she could have something spectacular. She has some interesting concepts in the book; besides the whole "sparkling skin" thing, one could probably twist that into something deep.
True Blood is so much better, can't believe people like "sparkly" vampire teenagers in high school. LAME
The books & the movies to match are fine. DON'T RUIN IT.
I think this may be the worst idea to ever come about in the history of film. They should just let the silly "book" (I find it hard to call this trash a book) series be done with. All that will occur is some more people funding the dry husk of Robert Pattinson and the emotionless doll of Kristen Stewart, I'd honestly rather see some horrible syfy movie than this trash, at least the bad movies syfy does are mildly entertaining in their terribleness.
Very poor acting, over-paid actors, all of whom have the mistaken megalomaniac train of thought that they're the best thing since Katherine Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart (not that they would know who these great actors were). Please.. just euthanize these movies and put them out of their misery.... and ours as well.
PLEASE MAKE MORE.. I DONT CARE HOW MANY YOU MAKE, I BELIEVE THEY ARE FANTASTIC. THOSE THAT DON'T, WELL DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON GOING TO SEE THEM.... WHY ARE YOU EVEN WASTING TIME COMING HERE & GIVING YOUR INPUT????
Because we DON'T want this crap to continue flooding our television sets anymore, perhaps? Power of the people, as the saying goes... If we protest enough, maybe they'll cut the crap and find something worth producing! 😀
*hope springs eternal*
I think they should do a tv series based on the Volturi...
More on the backstory of Alice and Jasper if the original actors would be willing to do it–probably as a cable series Also Stephanie Meyer "left the door open a crack" But Renesmee and Jacob in the future probably wouldn't work. Jacob has a human life span; Renesmee is probably as immortal as a vampire. Maybe move the story up 100 years for a final Volturi against the Cullens, Denali and other vampires.
it's a well known fact vampires cant be in daylight.Vampires dont have sperm to get a girl pregnant,Fail.
The way I see it is there is an obvious audience, so why not try? If I were them, I'd be overearnest in making it a great film, sparing no budget. Trying to cash in big on a cheap sequel or prequel without the current actors would be a disaster. If Stephenie Myer were on board and a good continuation can be explored and told, go for it. Fan or not, it's free enterprise in the great USA. If you don't like it, don't watch it! I think exploring the Jacob/Renessme tale is worthey but also think they'd need to add more in depth characters in new story lines to make it great. The current family could still be involved but it's time to see some new characters.
Best of luck!
'nuff said.
Please, NO!.
I'm so sick of sparkly angst ridden teen vampires and wolf boys I could hurl. My daughter and my WIFE drag me to these #(_)@ movies on a regular basis. I go–JUST to make the girls happy. But PLEASE, After 4.5, DON'T inflict another on me.
OH GAWD, YES!!!!!! Carry on!!!!!!!! But not on TV, only film! Many of us don't watch TV but love to go to the movies and eventually buy the DVDs.
PLEASE CONTINUE TWILIGHT!!!!!
Sorry, but I think that we are in Vampire "overload." Enough already!!
PLEASE God, make it stop!
There already exists a "Twilight" TV series; it's called "The Vampire Diaries" and it is lightyears better than that "Twilight" dreck.
BRING ON MIDNIGHT SUN... WE HAVE HAD BELLA'S AND JACOB'S SIDE NOW WE NEED EDWARD'S!!!! I WOULD GO SEE ANYTHING TWILIGHT AS LONG AS ROBERT AND KRISTEN WERE IN IT... I WANT MORE TWILIGHT...
They could do a lot with this universe. We've seen a lot of characters only tangentially, some we know have very interesting stories behind them. Just in the Cullen family alone, we've only scratched the surface. I loved the books, but the movies were at best mediocre. Much of that comes from the main trio. They could do a lot more if they dropped the dead (no pun intended) weight of Rob, Kristin, and Taylor. And then there's all the other vampires we've seen, especially glimpses of in the last book. It represents a different take on the vampire mythos, and could provide for some rich stories if people could get past the sparkly vampires and the issues with the three main characters.
The hardest part of painting is knowing when to stop.
How about "SHOULD Twilight continue??"!
Bad idea....if Twilight wants to remain a good/somewhat decent movie series then it should stop production after the next movie...if they continue with a tv show it will ruin the authors work and the book and movie series altogether. Also the TV world does not need another vampire show, Twilight would not get as many ratings as Vampire Diaries and True Blood.
Still fat alecia
Why have it continue? Oh it's because of all the zillions it's raking in despite very low budget production, dull and mostly un-exciting story lines, a number of actors who couldn't deliver enthusiastic performances at a crosswalk, let alone on a movie set and who are obviously graduates of the Keanu Reeves School of One Dimensional Method Acting. If hey ever do another remake of 2001, Lautner has my vote for the role of "Monolith".
What about Midnight Sun? that would be cool to see...or pre-Bella stories of the Cullen families and surrounding vamps
The trials of Renesme and Jacob (grown up of course) . Could be good!
God, no! Make it stop!
Vampire Diaries would squat over a Twilight TV series and take a giant vampire crap on it. And that's not saying a lot as VD also stands for venereal disease and that's what I felt like I had when I watched that show...
I sure hope not.. Twilight is horrible. I wish someone would stake Edward in the heart already. This guys needs to bite the dust already.. worst franchise saga ever in my opinion.
if u want 2 make another movie for twilight make it about thier daughter. but to make the tgwilight in2 a tv sereis will take a lot of work and time
good lord i hope it doesn't get continued as there's a big difference between knowing when to put an end to something when it's on top and dragging something on and on and on, devaluing it creatively, over-killing it, and running it into the ground until nobody gives a dam* about it anymore because they're sick of it.
This is good news for the 60 some-odd million fans of twilight, but for the other 240 million americans, this is just terrible...
The series has done enough damage as it is. Please just let it die.
if there is truly a merciful God in heaven.. there will never be another twilight. EVER!
Oh for the love of everything holy, please NO!
how about a story line with all the kardashians becoming vampires, which ends with the beast khloe eating everyone.
OMG! What would the teen-age girls do without this slow moving saga. They would have little to text their circle of friends if it ended. Open your minds, of course it will continue, it's a money-maker... ka-ching!
Im a big time Twilight fan. I really do hope that there will be a Part 2, to Breaking Dawn, cause Bella wakes up at the end of Part 1 and her baby is born. So we gotta see what happens next. I can hardly wait for Novenber. IM THERE. LOL.
YES!!! I hope it will continue! I'd love to see the story about Jacob and Renesmee! Have the volturi end and new volturi be "born" which is the Cullens!!! That would awsome! Tell us more the "wolf pack" and what's going on with them. A Twilight tv show/series would be awsome. Maybe even having some of the people in the movie play their same parts in the show!
People ENJOY this series? I'm sorry, but this has got to stop. Even the actors hate the characters they play. I cannot wait for this to fall into obscurity. For anyone who actually enjoys this series, here is my suggestion: Watch the original Star Wars trilogy, tell me what you think, and then compare both series. I think most people will admit that the Twilight series is complete garbage after doing so.
NO. Please...for the love. Make it stop. It has wretched writing and terrible acting.
Please make it go away.....PLEASE!!!!!
I think it could continue moving forward with the help of Stephanie. If someone else takes over I think it will change everything.. They could easily do something with Jacob and Bella's daughter (Renesme) and we would finally get to see Jacob with a love interest and to see more of how the bond with the wolfs work, and maybe Jasper and Alice, especially with Alice's premonition capabilities, any decent writer can come up with a fantastic story!!!! I'm sorry but I cannot agree with a prequal, I didnt like it when Star Wars did it because to me it's telling a story that we already know. We have already been given a briefing of each characters background ,so we already know what we should know. I think it should continue forward and tell a new story!!...
I fully agree!!
The Twilight Saga is the best. I love every book and movie. I hope they can continue it, but only with the same people. If it continues, please don't screw it up. No new Edward and Bella. Only use Rob Patz and Kristen Stewart but I doubt they will be available. I do think that Stephenie Myers owes "Midnight Sun" to her fans. Pleazzzzzzzzzz.
for the love of god, please stop stephanie meyer from writing anything ever again.
remember there is a super computer
manipulating those who love the lie
more then the words of God
Twilight is Satanic abstain
from what is evil
I think Stephenie Meyer is a pretty terrible writer, but that doesn't mean that she didn't have an at-least marginally intriguing idea when it comes to this universe of hers. Put the writing in someone else's hands, and I wouldn't mind seeing a story about the barely-mentioned Children of the Moon. Perhaps they're not (all) as vicious and uncontrollable as the Volturri think. Then again, I'm sure that would end up degenerating into an Underworld knock-off, so it would have to be a pretty good writer...
I need to watch these movies. Alot of different opinions.
Why?
please oh please do not make anymore of this mock Gothic teenage girl crap. VAMPIRES DON'T GOT OUT IN THE DAY LIGHT!!!
I'm glad these guys don't own the Harry Potter franchise.
What would be great though is 'Origins' type films of some of the characters, written for adults. But as usual all the wrong movies get made...
And why would we want it to?
Stop Please, Stop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I used to be a huge twilight fan, nothing really happened to cause me to stop but I prefer now, Vampire Diaries over the entire Twilight story. It's more interesting with much better actors and actresses in my opinion.
Wow, some of these comments make you realize people need to start putting their noses in educational books instead of this garbage. I think 60%-70% of Twihards think that the Twilight saga is real. I will say this . . . guys like Edward do exist . . . they're called stalkers. You people need to get real lives. The world is crumbling and you are worried about the further adventures of fictional characters.
Lol.. these comments are funny. I ain't mad at ya Twihards
ABSOLUTELY NOT!
Of course this drivel can continue – so far people gobbled up this baby formula of a movie despite the bland storyline and acting bested by the mannequins in the GAP window. Should it continue? Nope. It shouldn't have existed in the first place, but then talentless people want their pay-off too...
(This is from an obsessed Twlight fan) PLEASE dont make a show. You're not gonna get the original cast to play in the show and so, it will cheapen the story line. If you want to extend it, get Stephanie Meyer to write more books and then (if they do well) adapt them (with original cast) to movie. PLEASE choose quality over quanity.
(This from a person who hates Twilight and wants it to fall into obscurity as quickly as possible so that we don't have to admit to future generations that we bought a story where vampires sparkled in the light instead of dying)
1) I respect your opinion on the series as I hope you will respect mine
2) TV shows of books can be done VERY well, all you have to do is look at A Game of Thrones. In fact, TV shows provide more opportunity and satisfaction for fans as long as it's done right. Of course, more content would have to come from Meyer, or else the show would probably be akin to the old 80's Saturday morning cartoons, which only existed to make money by the tons. (Am I saying that they were all crap? No. Some were concerned with mainly making money, but they respected their audiences and treated them well). The only real concern with making a franchise a TV series is whether the franchise will be respected, and whether the audience will as well.
for the love of everything no!
I am a HUGE twilight fan, but even I know that making any type of movie/tv show after breaking dawn pt 2 would be a mistake and would ruin the franchise completely. PLEASE DON'T RUIN IT FOR US!
I went and saw Eclipse on a lark, knowing it would be terrible and fun to pick apart.
I was expecting bad teenage romance full of naive young people, but what I wasn’t expecting is just how dangerous and creepy of a message the movie sends.
According to Eclipse, it’s perfect acceptable for your boyfriend to stalk you, spy on you, break into your home, manipulate you, isolate you from your friends, get into fights with your friends, invade your privacy, and disrespect your father. It’s all perfectly acceptable as long as your boyfriend says he’s doing it “for your own good and protection.”
Is that what this franchise is really teaching teenage girls these days?
Do you know what happens in the real world when boyfriends act that way? They eventually wind up seriously hurting or killing a woman.
The series could probably go on as long as people pay money for this drivel.
"SHOULD" it go on? No.
For the love of God, please, NO!!!
How about no. Twilight sucks. Just sayin. Besides, any movie no matter how good or bad would not make a good tv show, I've seen it happen so many times. Especially Twilight. I've had enough of the vampire crap already.
I am in my 60's and I have enjoyed the books and the movies. No one forces anyone to go to any movie they don't like, or read any book that they don't care for, so for those that don't like them, I don't quite see their problem.
Many of the actors are quite popular right now, and if the writer was capable of writing some good stories about them so far, she probably could come up with some others. If they were well done, and enjoyable to read or see as movies, why not?
oh please please no more twilight..they are god awful.
George Takei is probably spinning in his satin pajamas right now, angry. You wouldn't like him when he's angry. The Star Alliance needs to put an end to this once and for all!
She is working on the HOST Movie... Her website has not had any updates since April 12, 2011... Does not want to continue on Midnite Sun...I think she should do the whole series from his perspective...Than she could do the whole series in Jacobs perspective. and than have it continue from Renesme perspective....NO TV.
I think a Twilight TV series is a bad idea. From a writer's perspecive, I would like to see some of the other character's stories brought to the big screen and have Edward and Bella fall into the background for once. Jasper's story would be a very intersting one.
For the love of God, no!!!!!
C'mon Stephanie Meyer–start writing more Twilight books. What are you DOING anyway?
The books were mildly entertaining, the movies were painful to watch, and the thought of a TV series makes me want to gag. Anne Rice has already explored how vampires are made pretty thoroughly, and all that Meyers did was make her brand of vamps sparkly (ok and dumbed them down too).
God I hope it doesn't continue. The first time around was bad enough
you can talk twilight is the best so ha
i have every season
Please don't do overkill with Twilight. It's had a good run now how about doing something just as creative. These actors are getting older and you cannot maintain that Edward is 17 when he looks well into his mid to late 20s now. Unless there is some kind of Scienist Vampire who discovers a way to allows them to age like humans, this storyline is about done. Perhaps someone will right that into the movie script.
I could see adding on one new movie if Mrs. Meyer finishes her book "Midnight Sun." It is about viewing the first book from Edward's point of view and was really written well and it give such a different perspective. I would hate to see this story drag on such for the money sake.
I watch Twilight reluctantly with the wife and daughter, its entertaining, and its OK to have on in the background in the kitchen when cooking. OK. Would more be good?
Sure. Why not continue after Bella's transformation?
However, it would be ideal if it were based on the author's continuance of the novels and subsequent movie adaptions, rather than Twilight stories being drafted by Hollywood writers (think Star Trek film franchise, ewe, and horrible material...)
I can see Twilight films continuing for some time. I can also see a quality adaption of it for TV, or similarly for the mentioned Harry Potter. Think "Lost" quality. Quality shows can be done. I'd think Harry Potter on TV would be much more costly to produce than Twilight (in a quality undertaking.)
"...It's an amazing franchise that they have done a great job of maintaining w/ absolutely no deterioration"
Hmmm, Cliche' CW style love triangle plotline, wooden acting, single-handedly killing off any interest in ANY vampre-themed projects (because they'll most likely be PG tween-focused instead of R-Rated for true Horror fans) Yeah, I'd say some " deterioration" has taken place here.
Please GOD in the words of the immortal Mr. Bill.......noooooooooooo.
Unfortunately, Mr. Bill is not immortal. My daughter (20's) doesn't know who he is, nor know much about anything of that generation, the 80's, or prior. The generation behind her knows even less.
"It is the doom of Man that he forgets."
Face it, under a social order of everything goes, capitalism rules, and everyone for themselves, there is no continuity, there is no order, there is no common body from which Mankind can move forward, leverage, progress, or perfect anything; from the family unit and raising future generations better prepared than the last, or nations' infrastructure, ingenuity, or prosperity. In many cases, we are going backwards. These are not the focus or priority of a capitalist society that doesn't seem to know the difference between capitalism and democracy – they're not the same thing and can be mutually exclusive.
So, every 30 years, our wise are replaced by the immature and inexperienced, and everything previously accomplished is washed away and started again, with no progression. Mr. Bill is forgotten, and Mankind meanders aimlessly.
P.S. There, sirs and madams, is the real "Noooooooooooooooo!", says Mr. Bill.
Mr. Bill will forever be immortal to those of us who had the good fortune to experience the early days of SNL.
oh please please no! i'm admittedly not a twilight fan, but it makes me ill to see them marketing to young girls with toys in toys 'r us, etc. it is a not a children's book!!! they'd just continue to push those toys to the wrong demographic. adult fiction should be marketed to adults 🙁
Actually I think a movie about the Volturi could be something they'd do to milk more money out of it. The could still use the Twilight Franchise name, but include a new story about how they formed or something in the early years, with Dr. Cullen maybe, but before Bella arrived on the scene.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKWCGocD56Q
Yes, to Movies, but no to a TV show. The book a Short Life of Bree tanner could be made a movie. As long as they stay true to Twilight, go forward!
Sheriff Cullen
True Blood and Twilight
Role Player.
Given the abusive nature of the relationship, the dangerous and near suicidal reactions Bella has to not being around Edward, given the poor acting (I blame the directors actually for that) and a number of other factors, I absolutely do not want this franchise to continue. I enjoyed the books for giving a different spin on vampire stories, but they still have the problems of promoting an addiction, not love. When you truly love someone you seek them out, you don't go catatonic for months. That's what withdrawal from drugs does to you. No, this should not continue.
At the end of Breaking Dawn (book), there was a hint that the story could continue. The Volturi could come back to destroy the Cullens' clan because the Volturi believe they have become too powerful. This would be a classic story of good vs. evil. (It is kind of like X-men – since a lot of the vampires have special powers – and with the divide of those who want to protect humans, vs. attack them.) The question is, can Stephanie Meyer write this kind of action-oriented book? The whole teenage crush/love story seems to be her real gift.
I agree that could be the way the shows go. But at the end of Breaking Dawn there is the hint that there could possibly be more to be said about Jacob and Renesmee. If the movies were to continue, I would like to see the spin on those two, sort of like the next generation thing.
I agree with you!!! The story does not end without the war with the Volturi.... Aro wants Bella, Alice, Edward, and Renesmee too! And they will be back for them! There are hints all thru the books....also, three characters from "The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner" will be back...including Bree herself!! There are more books to come, and movies too!
A prequel would allow the cast to showcase their acting abilities in ways that they weren't able to during the other films. Not that I think their acting would leave something to be desired, but the main draw of the books has been the love story of Bella and Edward. The real money would probably be in continuing the love story to include Bella and Edward's daughter and Jacob. At the end of Breaking Dawn a more mature Edward has accepted Jacob as his son while Bella now knows the tremendous attraction she and Jacob shared was because of Renesmee's "presence". However, I have to wonder if Stephanie Meyers is up to having her work re-interpreted by Hollywood on film once again. Ms. Meyers may have finished the Twilight books quickly but the speed at which she would have to work to get the story out in time to satisfy the studio's exec's might prove more of a task than the author would care for. Unless of course she collaborated with Twilight's screenwriter and the continuing saga grew as quickly as Renesmee does in Breaking Dawn, continuing to hold the reader's rapt attention.
I know Stephenie Meyer has already published a book with all of the characters backgrounds and so on. Characters like Bella and Edward to the smallest rarely talked about or seen characters like the Amazon Coven or the Humans in the book like school teacher and friends! But it would be interesting to see it as a movie or tv show! The book is called The Twilight Saga: The Complete Illustrated Guide.
Yes, on one condition, they merge the Twilight and Blade franchises.
I would love to see 1 more movie with a Jacob / Renesmee story line and with Bella as a vampire.
I don't think the story should "continue", but I think that if it's done correctly, a pre-quel would work. We could see how the Cullens lost their mortality and became what they are. There was a lot of background detail about each of them in the books that were not examined in any real way in the film. I DO NOT feel, however, that the story should be done as a TV show. That would be awful. It was a good story, maybe the films could have been better done – but sometimes you should let stuff go.
Disney told a better love story in 5 minutes than Stephanie Meyer could in 4 books, so why should she embarass herself more? Seriously, it's bad writing, and rips off classic novels. I'm going to be so happy the day it stops being popular.
Oh, and I used to be a twihard. I grew up and read actual books. You know, like The Road by Cormac McCarthy.
Well there's about one million fans/readers out there that would disagree with you. True the movies aren't as good as the books, mostly cause of the bad acting – but the books are written very well. Good entertainment for all ages.
Then why are you reading this article and taking the time and effort to comment? Apparently your intellect does not make up for your bad personality. Stop drinking the haterade.
True!
Yes, I'd love for Twighlight to continue. I've read all the books and seen all the movies so far. Can't wait till November to see Part 2 of Breaking Dawn. Since Jacob imprinted on Resema (spelled wrong-sorry), I'd like to see a story of them and the rest of the clan! I can't get enough of Twighlight. And to you folks who are downing this saga, try thinking outside the box! Imagination is a wonderful thing!
Try spelling 'Twilight' correctly. How about that?
These modern teenage vampire routines are hopelessly idiotic, especially with the nasal American accents. Actors like Christopher Lee are probably having a good laugh ! At least, get rid of "Twilight" and bring something like a modern version of "Twilight Zone".
EDWARD IS SOOOOOOOO FLIPPIN HOT!!!!!!!!!!!
ARE YA BLIND....EDWARD IS GOD AWFUL UGLY...THE NEXT MOVIE IS ABOUT HIM BEING GAY, SPREADING VAMPIRE AIDS
The movies are horrible. The actors are insincere and are worse at acting than William Shatner. Please make the misery stop!
Word.
Terrible acting. The only reason people watch these movies is because the actors are "hot".
Thank you, Wendy! Well said! Could they have found an uglier actress to play Bella? She should have picked the werewolf as she is certainly a dog
The acting is in line with the way the movies are written and directed. They are not meant to be Award winning Drama movies.. they are more along the lines of a tongue in cheek cult-classic movie.
How would you know? Have you ever seen the movies? They are at bad actors/actresses at all. Try to have and open mind about things! I bet your even worst! Btw why do people that hate the Twilight Series so much spend their time commenting on things like this? I fit makes you gag then why wouldn't you leave the page immediately ?
I think a pre-quel telling the story of how the Cullens got together in more detail, showing them from human-vampire and finally collectively settling in as 'vegetarians' would be awesome. A pre-quel about Bella might be good too, but im not sure how entertaining that would really be. Maybe dont go back so far with Bella, and re-cap the year leading up to her move to forks and ending with her sitting next to Edward that first day of class. And then definitely a movie taking place AFTER breaking dawn. To look into the lives of the family and develop their story further as vamps!!
PS – Taylor Lautner is SUCH a dreamboat!
I agree! She should continue with books about Jacob and the wolf pack!
Spoken like a true Hollywood mogul! Milk it till it's deader than a dehydrated vampire! But make its death slow and painful, and be sure you've wrung every ounce of credibility and respectability (not that it's ever been Shakepeare in the first place) out of it first! When viewers abandon you, bring in space aliens and gnomes! Scratch and claw until the franchise has been turned into a complete joke, Taylor Lautner's abs have turned into a pot belly, and even 13-year-old girls say "Yuck!" whenever they hear the word "twilight" whether associate with the movies, the time of day or the classic TV show of the 1960s!
LOVE this part! 'deader than a dehydrated vampire' – thanks for the LOL! I sure needed one!
well put and unfortunately probably going to happen
I love this series! this is the greatest saga EVA!!!!! But personally i am in Team Jacob, but Bella and Edward are prettty good couple..... I think the next one should be about their daughter's life and how she falls in love with a human boy, just like how Edward fell in love with Bella which was forbidden!!!!
.....you haven't read the books have you....?
Did you even read the books? The daughter already has a love, prior to birth, and he is not human. LOL. But, that love story could not be made into a TV show or movie because even just reading it gave too many people the "Eww" feeling of incest and wrongness.
How could it give people the feeling of incest? Incest is relations between family members and Renesmee and Jacob are definitely not family.
hell No! those movies r so stupid! vampires r amazing but these gay sparkly 1s is effin stupid!
how could u say tht????? u r SOOOOOO mean... how could u say that this is the horrible movie!!!! i think u r effin stupid
Haha, I'm not sure if Chloe really is a teenage girl squealing in indignation, or someone pretending to be one! That was TOO stereotypical.
I have been a vampire fan for 16 years now, and I can say without shame, that out of the hundreds of books shows movies comics ect that I have read/seen, the twilight "saga" is by far the worst writen and acted vampire series of all time. It suceeds purely on the fact that they have pretty boy (not straight) boys playing the roles, so women of all ages (aproperate and otherwise) flock to it. If a movie stared that age group of little girls, and men flocked to them, they would be called pederasts. Just like Demi Moore sleeping with a 25, IT IS GROSS.
I love those two ,never saw such chemistry between two actors ,he is adorable and he relly adores her,I like the show even if I am old, I enjoy it!
Well, you have the grammatical skills of a 9 year old.
comeon you have the maturity and behavior of a 2 yr old, but we can't stop you from posting
The most convincing and life-like role Kristen Stewart ever played is a corpse.
Vampire shows su ck.lol
Here is a list of names for all the out coming parts: Morning, Nine O´clock, Half past twelve, Twelve O´clock, Evening and of course Afternoon...
PLEASE yes! We are dying to see Edward Cullen POV! Midnight Sun is absolutely all we dream about!
Midnight Sun was absolutely amazing! She needs to finish writing it, and then make THAT into a movie!!!
I'm sorry, but I read the chapters of Midnight Sun that Meyer posted on her website. They were terrible. None of the books are particularly good, but I enjoyed them for what they were when I was a teenager. (I sort of like to think of the series as junk food. You know it's not good for you, you know that there are better, more beneficial things out there, but sometimes you just want some easy, no hassel junk food.) Eclipse was the last one with any (however little) redeeming value. Breaking Dawn and what was written of Midnight Sun read like a fanfiction.
I think that's why she refused to release Midnight Sun. Not because she was outraged that someone leaked her work, but because she realized that she ran out of steam on the whole Twilight thing and that rewriting a book from a different character's perspective is a desperate move.
Also, how would you make Midnight Sun into a movie? It's the exact same story with many of the exact same scenes. Literally, the only thing you could change in a majority of the scenes is the camera angle. Making that movie would be nothing but a desperate grab for more money from the pockets of teenage girls and their middle-aged moms and it would make me lose what little respect I still have for the franchise .
Hell no should there be a Twilight tv show! that will suck terribly! Yes, Twilight did very well in the movies, but so did Harry Potter and they arent thinking about making a television show for Hp. By doing so, they'll be ruining the Twilight Franchise. Please, just leave it at Breaking Dawn and nothing else.
The Twilight franchise was ruined along time ago, basically when it started.
How can you ruin Twilight? Doesn't bad acting and bad story telling do that on its own?
Well I don't think the vampire guy really wants to be an actor but the wolf guy is pretty good. I saw his new movie and it was good not great but good.
Thats a-lot of money. Maybe they could do some prequels like in the Star Wars saga. As long as its making that much they should probably and probably will keep making them. Somebody must like the movies.
I am not a Twilight fan (though I don't dislike it, it is just not my thing). I have seen 2 of the movies on the tv hbo channels and I think the prequel idea has merit. Leave the Bella, Jacob, Edward triangle out of it, but how about focusing more on each vampire and how they became vampires? I am not sure if the books went into more detail, but the movies didnt seem to explain the full story of how the people in Edward's "family" became vampires and that may be a way to take this idea and make it into more than just 4 movies.
I agree to the prequel idea. Would be great to learn the before and after of each cast member prior to Bella.
A while back it was released that Stephanie Meyer was working on a Prequel book but it was hacked off of her computer and she decided to put it up for now... you could actually read the first 100 or so pages on her website, if I remember correctly.... I think if they were to go along that track then it would be a good idea... maybe do a current thing and then multiple flashbacks to the "prequel"...
Jenni, that book wasn't a prequel but a different point of view of the first book. Rather than it being Bella doing the story, it's Edward instead.
The books (and supplemental materials) did go into the backstories in a bit more depth than was conveyed in the movies. I'm not sure there's enough in them to carry another movie/movies.
Meyer did write a novella telling the story of one of the newborn vampires from "Eclipse"–called "The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner"–which might work as its own movie. But beyond that...leave well enough alone and don't go inventing stuff to put in movies just to try and make more money-it'll only end up shooting the studio in the foot (or else farther up).
Yes, please!
Agreeeeeeeee! I can not wait any longer
please !!! STOP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not if it has a rusty dagger in it's ribs... Oh, you mean it doesn't? Here, I can fix that...
Oh god... please don't make another movie....
The thought of more of this crap makes me want to slaughter R.P., what a hack actor. And Myers is a hack compaired to (her admitidly favorite author, and source of her ideas) Llaural K. Hamalton. Twilight only apeals to DESPORATE girls of all ages.
I agree, there is nothing more romantic than sucking blood from another human. Gives you the warm and the fuzzies inside. Ever see Warhol's Frankenstein - the Twilight kids must think that movie is romantic, especially the intestine part!
I HOPE NOT! This franchise has to be the most idiotic drivel ever made.
Seriously, can't anyone enjoy a romance and not worry about the acting and the literature qualities of the writing? Give me a break. This is just a love story and yes the actors are Hot, that's the whole idea to suck us in (no pun intended 🙂 ok, maybe intended... If you hate this story so much, get off this forum... This is histerical, listening to you complain about it. Why are you bothering? Do you think anyone will listen to you when $700M dollars might be made on the next one? If I was an investor in this saga, I'd run with it till the wheels fell of!
No please! These films are un-watchable. The story is told at a snail pace. Boring!
