Elton John wants Justin Timberlake to play him in biopic

There's a biopic about Elton John in the works, and the musician already knows who he wants to land the lead role: Justin Timberlake.

Elton told the Los Angeles Times that he has a "wish list" of potential stars who could play him, but that the "Cry Me A River" crooner is a favorite.

"No. 1 on my wish list is Justin Timberlake, because he played me before in a David LaChapelle video of 'Rocket Man' and was superb," the Brit legend tells the L.A. Times.

As for how far along they are with the project's development, Elton John says an announcement about the film should be made soon.

"We have a director on board, and then it's just going to be a matter of getting the script exactly the way we want it," he says. "Lee Hall has written the script - he wrote 'Billy Elliot' - and then we'll start trying to cast and plan."

So what do you think: Can you see J. Timberlake as Sir Elton?

Great... the h o m o phobic teens are back to junior high and have access to the internet again. Anyone ever tell them that it's usually angry, closeted phobes who are the first to accuse others of being g a y?

  3. Fan of 40 years.

I think he was very handsome when he was young. He is not young now, but still a great singer and piano player.
He will always be # 1 in my book. He has written hundreds of great songs. Justin Timberlake will do a great job
of playing him. The people that write sick jokes about him are the people who are sick. Why should you condemn
him for being honest? Can you imagine how many people have tried to blackmail him over the last 42 years since
he became famous. You should think about what you would do if you were famous. If your slate is clean, then you can
throw stones, if not, leave him alone.

    Close, but not quite there.

I would be glad to play Elton's male companion. And would shoot the scenes as many times as needed.

If Timberlake is going to play Elton in a movie, he better get a large package of Johnsonville brats and get to practicing some tonsil hockey.

Well I'm concerned dubya might be a school teacher and ruining more than his own reputation when he says ANYONE walks better in heels than his girlfriend. We all know that he's the only one who can. But Justin Timberlake could make Sir Elton come to life for a whole new generation. Besides being canonized for eternity as the one who not only portrayed the Master, but is quite the immortal talent on his own.

Elton John is and will always be one of the best musicians in history. I have read so many closed minded responses here im disgusted. Justin Timberlake would play a great Elton John...he is a great actor and a brilliant musician and obviosly has the talent for the role but everyone is so worried about an actual gay person playing him. Thats just sad.

Elton is the best entertainer in recent history. I am certain JT would do him justice. I would think a good part of the movie would be his younger years when Elton was justin age. wake up everyone, give us a break

please, anyone but timberlake. As a lifelong ej fan, having seen him several times in concert, he is one of the greatest of all time, but if timberlake takes this part, i will look the other way without a second thought. And im willing to put dollars to doughnuts that the producer will be david.

I think JT would do a great job playing SEJ. JT is multi-talented; he could do anything. I respect him enormously as a performer, even if I prefer SEJ's music to his.

Justin has played Sir Elton John in a number of roles already, including one of John's music videos. He did a fabolous job and he was really impressed with his portrail of him. Gay rumors are a thing of the past & why let something as immature and pety as said rumors to effect the chance of playing a monumental role of a lifetime???

Elton John is not only popular but he has sold millions of albums. He sang at Princess Diana's funeral and has been knighted by the Queen of England. He is perhaps one of the most well known singers in the world.

One big problem. Justin Timberlake is cute. Elton John is not. The actor wouldnl't fit the part. Justin would have to gain like 100 lbs.

Good point. I'm sure the Elton John biopic would cover the years 2008-2012 exclusively.

JT doesn't care who thinks he's gay. The guy is a talented actor and has a wonderful sense of humor as evidenced in his SNL appearances. And Tracie, saying something so patently stupid as "Elton John is not popular" is such a pathetic attempt at trolling it isn't even worthy of mention. I'm not sure the man hasn't sold out an arena in the past 30 years plus.
