'Back to the Future' Delorean sells for six figuresGreat Scott! That's one expensive Delorean. A car used in the 1990 sequel "Back to the Future Part III" has sold at an auction for $541,200, Hemmings.com reported. Although there are many replica Deloreans out there, this is the genuine article, according to movie and TV memorabilia auctioneers Profiles in History. Viewers of Syfy's reality show "Hollywood Treasure" first got a glimpse of the Delorean sitting in collector Desi Dos Santos' garage.
[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zn5lDQ18DWo&w=480&h=360%5D At the time, Dos Santos couldn't bear to part with the Delorean, but it would seem that his feelings have since changed. The Delorean was also displayed at the Profiles in History booth at this year's San Diego Comic-Con (click here to see an image of it, there). Now that this piece of movie history has a new home, viewers of the Syfy series might be able to watch in 2012 to see how the auction went down. Would you pay over a half million dollars to have Marty McFly's ride in your garage? Let us know in the comments. |

Howdy,
I'm the proud new owner of the car. We are members of Team Fox as part of the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. Part of our motivation to purchse the car will be to use the car in conjunction with the efforts to raise awareness regarding this great venture.
It also brings a lot of smiles to people's faces.

man, i wouldn't pay that. It's a Delorean from Back to the Future, but its the Delorean from Back to the Future *part III*. if it were from PArt 2 or Part 1, then yeah, i would say it was worth it.
Of course I would pay that much. Then, I would go back in time and place big bucks on MJ in the death pool. That car just paid for itself!
The mileage is way too high on this car. It's been driven to the future and several times. Everything will need to be replaced and rebuilt and parts are expensive and hard to find. Besides for half a million bucks you can get a boatload of Chevy Cavalier's and Ford Fiesta's.
The greatest car ever made.
Damn!......Damn Damn!!
The incredible significance of this vehicle cannot be overstated. Only fools don't understand the value. Its truly the major milestone of 20th century drama and culture.
This piece makes me want to pop my porpoise.
I'd rather have KITT.
Probably a stash of cocaine in the trunk. -Artie

if i were rich i would love to have that car just to say i own it.
1.21 Giggawatts!

My friend's dad pops his porpoise.
If $$ not an object? Darn right I wud buy it. The car itself was experimental when built&just from a scientific standpoint it would be a blast to have. Again,if $no prob, i'd be a collector,no doubt. 65Mustang,56Tbird,66GTO,modelT, 56&57Chevys, how fun...hell,even old tractors! &every yr of jeep from Willys C2A up. It's a gearhead thing IMO.
While I enjoyed those movies, I would not own that car. On an interesting side note that holds a touch of irony: there is a movie starring Jack Nicholson called "Going South". Christopher Lloyd plays a lawman who is in love with the leady lady (same woman who falls for Doc in BTTF III- can't think of her name) but she doesn't reciprocate. Hollywood hyjinx huh?
You're not thinking fourth-dimensionally !
I had just seen "Back To The Future" and my first day of Class for Electronics Theory I asked the Professor if a "Flux Capacitor" was a possibility......the Class Roared with laughter, and the Prof explained that Flux is a function of inductance, which is the reciprocal of Capacitance, mutually exclusive, and therefore highly unlikely. I guess Marty and the Doc proved HIM wrong, eh ??
As long as Michael J. Fox isn't driving it.
...I,ll give my two cents
I would pay it. One of the BEST movie cars ever!!!
"does the flux capacitator come with it"jesse calm down clown
When that baby hits 88MPH...you're goona see some serious sh!t
Wouldn't pay much more than 1500 for one of those, its crap.
Those cars look cool on the screen, but in real life they look small and dont run that well
Of course, you can always replace the engine with something else.
Warren/Jessie -ever heard the old saying "if you can't say anything intelligent keep your mouth shut" ? You are like children looking for attention.
@RW how many times have you seen that movie?
..and how many lightyears to the jigawatt does this baby handle?
Does the flux capacitor come with it?
Dick in the butt!
Actually, it depends on how much money I had. As of now, I don't have much, but if I were a billionaire, I might pay that much for it. It would be pretty cool to own, in my opinion.
me neither. id maybe give 200 dollars. not a penny more though. 200 dollars is more than ample for a car that old.
