Demi Lovato angry about eating disorder joke on DisneyDemi Lovato isn’t happy with the Disney Channel. The former “Sonny With a Chance” star, who has been treated for depression and an eating disorder, publicly expressed her dismay regarding a joke she heard on the network’s “Shake It Up!” “‘I could just eat you up, well if I ate’ – Disney Channel’s ‘Shake It Up’.... What are we promoting here?” the 19-year-old singer tweeted. “I find it really funny how a company can lose one of their actress’ [sic] from the pressures of an EATING DISORDER and yet still make joke about … that very disease.” Lovato then references missing the Disney shows that starred Raven-Symone (“That’s So Raven”) and Hilary Duff (“Lizzie McGuire”) saying, “And is it just me, or are the actress’ [sic] getting THINNER AND THINNER … Dear Disney Channel, EATING DISORDERS ARE NOT SOMETHING TO JOKE ABOUT.” She followed up her tweet with something of a disclaimer: “Nor do I think there’s anything wrong with girls who aren’t curvy, I just was stating a fact that there needs to be more variety on TV so young girls growing up don’t feel pressured to look one specific way.” One of Lovato's 5.3 million Twitter followers responded, saying, “& they said something about that on ‘So Random.’ It [expletive] me off when they joke about it.” Moments later, the Disney Channel's media relations account tweeted in response to Lovato, “We hear you & are pulling both episodes as quickly as possible & reevaluating them … It’s NEVER our intention to make light of eating disorders!” |

@Booo Yeah, trust me hon, I seriously doubt you looked "Fab" when you had an eating disorder.
That's certainly not something body conscious tweens need to hear. I had an eating disorder in junior high – and I looked fab by the way. I wouldn't wish it on someone else though.
Stop whining ! if you know your own truth,Demi stop defending yourself. Relax, don't be so sensitive....duh...
