Tech N9ne on performing for U.S. troops during Iraq withdrawal

As the last of the U.S. troops withdrew from Iraq, independent rap artist Tech N9ne provided some outgoing entertainment in Kuwait.

The artist performed his song 'The Noose," which he says was inspired by military troops, to show his support for those fighting on the front lines. (There's video of his performance over at

Read about his first-hand experience after the jump:

"What affected me the most about my visit to the Middle East was how amazingly pleasant and humble those who are serving our country were, even while under some of the [roughest] and most secluded living conditions imaginable.

The mostly young men and women all had stories similar to my own. When I talk about being away from my family and missing my kids in my music, they told me they listen to those songs to get them through being away. They showed my crew and I the most love imaginable for coming and giving them a piece of the USA, and that's exactly what we did.

I told them every night that I would go into the middle of a war zone to show my appreciation for their bravery. While at Camp Buehring in Kuwait, I accidentally suffered two broken ribs trying to climb into an Apache helicopter. Afterward, even against the suggestions of the military doctors, I performed the entire hour-and-a-half of my last three shows under a lot of pain.

I guess that was my way of saying that nothing could've stopped me from rocking the mic for those same troops that are so far away from their loved ones, suffering a pain all of their own. Nothing! I wouldn't have missed it for the world! Merry Christmas to the men and women of the United States Military who keep us all safe."

racism is a stupid concept that i can't get my mind around. Flawed logic. But what i can tell you is that tech is living the american dream. Self made businessman. Talented lyricist. Tech cares for his fans and it shows. I've been a fan for 13 years and counting. He raps about real life. Much respect for supporting our troops.

Wow, you ignorant, racist, waste of space and air, backwood inbred cowards are really stupid. Even if you don't like Tech N9ne, that doesn't give you the right to down him. Same goes with any musician, rapper, or just plain person. Instead of a war on Terrorism, I say wage war on you retards, then we'd be doing our country a favor. If your racist, kill yourself.

all of you people that are hating on tech need to look at what you are really doing. You are hating on person who chose to go to iraq in order to perform for our own U.S military. How many musicians are doing that ? Lil Wayne ? Wiz Khalifa? Jay – Z? . Wait how many die hard conservative country singers would tour in iraq?, Tech N9ne is the most real artist in the music industry. also its truly frightening to see how many racist comments there all. FTI !!

As far as the Country singers go i can name a few. First off Toby Keith!! He has Multiple Tours to Iraq to perform for the troops, Hell i think he even has more time overseas than some of the newer troops, Lonestar also performed here, Even the drummer of lonestar came even though the day before they left his mother died but he still came cause his mother wanted him to, Aaron Tippin and Darryl Worley came down too. I can go on so yeah Country Singers do come, and yeah So did Tech Nine and that was pretty sweet of him to do so. So did Puddle Of Mudd.

How in the world anyone could ever possibly believe in something like "whites aren't welcome in America" is way beyond me.
Whites ARE America. We built it, we run it, we control it. This will never change.
Don't like it? Move to Africa, I heard you can get a great tan there, before you catch AIDS, get robbed, mugged, and then killed over some jenkum.

This is downright disrespectful for our brave soldiers to be visited by some average criminal gangsta-wannabe thug n!66er. They should shoot him on sight, seeing as he is another domestic enemy of the state (since he is a n166er).

"What affected me the most about my visit to the Middle East was how amazingly pleasant and humble those who are serving our country were, even while under some of the [roughest] and most secluded living conditions imaginable."

Too bad your own people can't even do this, even though they are in slightly better conditions, with all of their bills and food paid for by the taxpayers through food stamps and welfare while they sit lazily on their fat @$$es watching reruns of Oprah.
    Worthless n!66ers are worthless.

Thank god for the internet, because it gives RACIST & BIGOTS like you a chance to type about your way of thinking to the whole wide world(world wide web), and give people like Al Sharpon a reason to march every time a white person(like a cop) do something harmful to a black person. So keep doing a good job telling the whole world how you really feel about blacks because THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING.

Tech is a complete joke. He's gotta be about 50, & still puts out the same worn-out junk he was doing 20yrs ago. Nice jesture? Sure, but its more likely he needs the publicity. His concerts in his 'homey-town' of KC are barely half full, & many of those attending are used up heifers & meth addicts that were trying to be Tech groupies in the 90's. Give the guy a rocking chair he's past done.

Yeah, he needs the publicity. He was only on the BET Awards cypher, featured on Tha Carter IV and was number 4 on the Billboard charts this year. He tours around the world and is worth over a million dollars.

The reason Kansas City sucks is people like you who have to put down everyone even mildly successful. You'd probably tell him how big a fan you are to his face.

Tech N9ne is the truth!! One of the busiest men in the music industry today, performing over 200+ shows a year and performing all over the world, releasing 3 albums in 2011 alone, earning spots with top artists like the Deftones, Lil Wayne, Busta Rhymes, Travis Barker, etc etc, while selling almost 2 million albums INDEPENDENTLY– w/ no backing from a major record label- INDEPENDENTLY– with himself and his business partner, Travis, Tech N9ne is doing what NO ONE else has ever done in the music business! Sorry, thought I should educate the 3 ignorant dudes that left the first 3 comments. This is awesome that CNN is covering this story. What a special gift for these soldiers to have during the holidays and timed with arguably one of Tech's biggest years of his career. Thank you to all the men and women serving our country. Thank you Tech N9ne for always keepin it real. #TechnicianIam
