Trailer lands for 'Dark Knight Rises'

We have months still to go until Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises" bows in theaters, but there's now a full trailer to tide us over.

It begins "in peace time," with an ominous rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner being performed at a football game. Tom Hardy's villainous masked Bane stalks menacingly as a football field full of players will soon meet their demise, and Anne Hathaway's Selina Kyle issues a dire warning to Christian Bale's Bruce Wayne/Batman.

"You think this can last. There's a storm coming, Mr. Wayne," she says, before dropping into a whisper. "You and your friends better batten down the hatches. 'Cause when it hits, you're all going to wonder how you ever thought you could live so large, and leave so little for the rest of us."

"The Dark Knight Rises" opens next July.

Everyone who is doubtful of Anne Hathaway's upcoming performance as Cat Woman, should hold their comments. Remember when everyone was saying how Heath Ledger was going to make a horrible Joker?? We are all just going to have to wait for the summer. Mr. Nolan knows what he's doing!

I'm willing to give Anne Hathaway a chance. No one thought Heath Ledger was a good cast for the Joker and not only did her absolutely kill his role, they have him the Oscar for it. Nolan knows what he's doing, and if he thinks Anne was the good call, then he has my support.

People seem to be forgetting that Nolan is trying to make Gotham into a reality. Clearly, we're not going to see characters protrayed the way we've seen in the past (i.e. Michelle Pfiefer (sp?) as Selena Kyle being brought back by cats, or the Penguin with polydactyl deformations). This trailer shows a very real looking Gotham, and real people, trying to live up to bigger names in the comic industry.

I, for one, am excited to see what Ms. Hathaway does with Selena Kyle.

Oh yea, I love all the "realism" in Nolan's movies. Like the hovering bat plane. So real. Don't forget the roof-hopping tumbler. Much more realistic than just a bat themed batmobile. Let's not forget Two-Face's realistic make-up from The Dark Knight, and how a thin tow cable and a motorcycle can flip a big rig. Nolan just THINKS his Batman movies are more realistic but in reality, they're just as hokey, if not more than previous Batman films.

It's called acting and last time I checked, I thought that's what her occupation was. Maybe playing 100% the opposite to her type as to playing someone just like herself, well then that wouldn't be acting, now would it? I'm sure this movie will be a hit for most Dark Knight fan's!

Somehow despite the perfact casting of Tom Hardy as Bane, Nolan and comopany completely dropped the ball with Anne Hathaway. She is 100 % opposite of the type they should have cast, and I have a very nagging feeling that she's going to ruin the movie for me. Nolan, how could you?

Well at least we now have proof that Anne Hathaway was miserably miscast. She is so completely outside her element, it would be laughable if it wasn't so cringe inducing.

Miscast as whom? She seems fine as Selina Kyle. Maybe you were hoping for that båstardization Burton brought upon audiences back in the '90s. [yawn]

Anne Hathaway made me roll my eyes and Bane sounds ridiculous. That said, I'm pretty excited for the final Christopher Nolan Batman movie.

Not sure why you think she's "garbage." Maybe you were hoping for someone like Uma Thurman channeling Mae West in which case I'm glad you're so terribly disappointed. See you in line for tickets!
