Daniel Craig in talks to do five more Bond movies?

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Daniel Craig may ultimately star in as many as eight Bond films.

The actor is currently shooting the latest flick in the franchise (his third as James Bond), “Skyfall,” and he's reportedly in talks to sign on for more movies.

Franchise producer Michael G. Wilson told Sunday newspaper The People that he will be discussing more Craig-as-Bond movies once “Skyfall” wraps. “Filming has gone very well and I'd love Daniel to surpass Roger's [Moore] record and do eight pictures," Wilson said.

Craig’s already done three Bond films, so that leaves five more to go. The sixth actor to play the iconic spy on film, Craig, 43, made his debut as Bond in the 2006 hit, “Casino Royale.” He followed it up with 2008's "Quantum of Solace."

“Skyfall” is slated to hit theaters in November of next year. You can catch Craig sleuthing it up in "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," out this week.

He is not james bond. He is an ugly thung with no personality. Dull and boring with no dialogue his movies are all explosions and car chases. Not to mention he looks like hes 60 years old. Why cast an ugly old man as a younger bond. He is also a hypocrite who said he didn't want to do a second film. Now they throw money at him and he signs on for 8. Pathetic

Daniel Craig looks like Jimmy Durante in a tux.

P.S. Samantha Bond rules as Moneypenny ! And Xenia Onatopp is the ultimate foe, she would have made a better recurring villain than Jaws or Blofeld.

P.S.S. – Who wants to see another Bond video game w/ Pierce Brosnan as 007 ? Remember "Everything or Nothing" ? One of the best 007 games right up there with "From Russia w/ Love".

I liked Dalton because he, like Connery, could be very scary, despite the fluff scripts. Both Brosnan and Moore, while good actors, were too lightweight to play Bond, although Brosnan is the better actor. Lazenby had no business playing a lead role.
The reboot series is definitely the best of the bunch and Craig is the best Bond. The series is believable, Bond takes genuine knocks, gadgets are incidental, and the stories are both believable and sequential. I hated Dench with Brosnan but with Craig she has a worthy adversary.

Daniel Craig is a great Bond. Every bit as good as Brosnan, and Connery. He lends the cold factor to the calculating nastyness that is necessary to Bond. Regardless of what some of these inept youngsters here may think, Daniel Craig does a great job. I think a couple of replacements are in order for some of the other characters. If they are going to continue to use Michael Kitchen in the role, its my opinion he needs to bring a little more Inspector Foyle into the role, (Foyle's War). Though I like Judy Dench, I think Helen Mirren would have been a better choice for "M". Lastly, the young sprite they picked for Moneypenny, yeah uh not really. Moneypenny was an older and more refined lady from the get-go, so stick with what you start with. As for whi could be the next Bond, well my pick would indeed by Hugh Jackman, or Jason Issacs. Bond Forever!

With all of the rehashing going on with movies like Batman, where it is more reality based with flawed (complex if you will) characters, Bond is the only one that should have stayed the course or faded away. Unless, the character development goes in the direction where Bond grows into the suave, could do no wrong type of character, then the movies will tank eventually.

The tone set in Dr. No was serious and not done in with stupid puns and gadgets. From that point on the series improved in many ways, but by Roger Moore's time it had turned into little more than a cartoon (Jaws making out with Pollyanna in space!?). With the Brosnan series it was a bit more serious but from the get-go all of the Bond films were self indulgent and the stories were fair ranging to awful. The new, grittier and more serious series is the way it should have been done from the start.

I have to comment on all the comments about who was the best Bond. Do you really want to know who the best Bond was? His name was Ian Fleming. The "real" James Bond. Try reading the books for a change. The movies stopped being good a long time ago.

For my money, the two best films in the Bond series are: The Spy Who Loved Me; and For Your Eyes Only. The Spy Who Loved Me was when Roger really came into his own as Bond. There were nice dramatic moments in the film, such as the bar scene in which Barbara Bach makes a comment about Bond's dead wife. Stung by the reference, Roger's glib facade falls away, revealing his pain and anger. Roger conveyed all of that with a simple look. Despite what the critics say, Roger could (and still can) act. And For Your Eyes Only displayed both Roger's tender and tougher sides. The scene in which one of his love interests is murdered (played by Cassandra, Pierece Brosnan's first wife who died of ovarian cancer in the 1990s) again displayed Roger's acting chops, displaying the character's regret. And then there's the scene in which Bond dash up a staircase built into the side of cliff, in order to gun down an assassin. When the assassin's car goes off the road and is perched on the side of the cliff, Bond kicks the car and it falls off the cliff. This is one of most hotly debated scenes in Bond films. Did Bond kill the guy in cold blood? Or, was the car already sliding off the cliff when Bond added the kick for good measure?

First of all, let me just say the Roger Moore made Bond a joke. As for being "cold blooded", what the hell do you think a secret agent with a license to kill should be? Think about it idiot!

First of all "Michael", the debate over the cliff scene is real. To learn more about it, I suggest watching For Your Eyes Only with the audio commentary. There was concern that having Bond kick the guy's car off the cliff would have made the character seem unsympathetic. Remember, the film was made in 1981. The sensibilities of the time were very different than today's. Second, "Michael", didn't your mother ever teach you not to call people names? It's rude, plain and simple.

    • @Michael Westen

Rude? Yes. Simply put, you are a moron. I watch movies for entertainment. You do realize that they aren't real, don't you? 1981 or 2011, what's the difference? A lousy Bond movie is still a lousy Bond movie. It's idiots like you that support the audio commentaries and the "how did they do that" crapola on the DVD's that have ruined the fantasy and imagination needed to enjoy a good movie. Now, that being said, to fall back on the old "didn't your mother teach you" thing is well, juvenile at best. Try to come up with something better next time.

Pierce Brosnan himself said in an interview that he despised the lines he was given. He would have killed to play the role and when he eventually got it, he was unimpressed with the writing. But that's what happens when you run out of Ian Fleming novels and you have Michael G Wilson writing. I thought Brosnan and Craig look terrible as Bond. It's not entirely their fault. They're set up to fail. Though they lack the stage presence and iconic wit of Connery and Moore.

Roger Moore is my favorite. You know the franchise is getting old in the tooth when the current regime begrudges the profit and popularity from its own Roger Moore era. I mean, they HATE him. I mean, make it a priority that Craig makes more films than Roger? What if audiences tire of Craig? What if there's a need for change? Then you're stuck with a 65-year-old as James Bond. There was even talk of re-making Live or Let Die. If it were not for Moore, the franchise would have died with Connery.

Wow. Quite the discussion. Personally I do like Craig as Bond just because his portrayal is the closest to the books of Ian Fleming (minus the blond hair and contemporary setting.) No other Bond has quite captured the Bond of the books.

Having said that, I feel that each actor is a different animal and it is really unfair to say which is better. It depends on how you like your Bond. If you like your Bond to be charming, go with early Connery and Brosnan. If you like your Bond to be a bit campy, go with Moore and later Connery (You Only Live Twice and Diamonds are Forever.) If you like your Bond to be a bit more serious, go with Craig, Dalton, and even Lazenby. Each one is a fine actor his own right and each of them played Bond in their own way. And you can't really blame the Bond actors for poorly executed stories. Who you should blame are the directors and writers.

As far as Craig playing five more Bond movies, I would say no just from a production standpoint. It looks as if Bond movies are getting released three years apart at the earliest. He will be quite old for the part. (Although that could make an interesting movie of Bond slowing down from age and reaching retirement if done correctly.)

hoping they decide to make a series of them at a time-trilogy like LOTRings or Twilight-released annually for 2014,15,16 for example–seems a no brainer for the franchise, esp if they are considering 40 (looks old for his age) something DCraig for the role (it would take 15 plus years at the current rate to do the five more suggested here otherwise–and Craig with be nearly 60 by then)-five films in five years–that would be GREAT

Five more with Craig? That is just horrible news (and it is just hype, as Michael Wilson said the same about Brosnan afterTHE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH, and then they tossed him after DIE ANOTHER DAY).
That said, Craig is just awful. James Bond is not supposed to be a short, ugly, classless troll that likes to kill. The book Bond never killed in cold blood and was tall, dark and handsome, unlike this creepy Jason Bourne-lite that is now on screen.
Craig looks way ugly now and, based on a film every two-three years (as they have done), he will never make it to eight without frightening most of the audience.
He should quit after SKYFALL and let a real James Bond take over.
    Enough is enough.

Craig is all wrong as Bond. Bond is supposed to be sophisticated, upper crust, and, most importantly, extremely handsome. Craig is the first ugly Bond.

Obviously you've never read an Ian Fleming novel. Bond was never supposed to be incredibly handsome, that was Hollywood's twist on the character. Fleming described Bond as having a resemblance to Hoagy Carmichael.

No, the least attractive Bond was George Lazenby! Danny Craig is average-looking yet distinguished in a rough sort of way. However, seeing that Craig is under 45 and already looks somewhat ancient, I cannot see him making 5 more movies as Bond. I mean, let's face it, Roger Moore still looked like a god in "A View to a Kill," but the same will definitely not hold true for Craig, who already looks about as old Moore did at 57! And while Craig's Bond has more personality than Dalton's, he does not really have anything like Connery's animal magnetism or Moore's sophistication.

      As stated by Ian Fleming:
"When I wrote the first one in 1953, I wanted Bond to be an extremely dull, uninteresting man to whom things happened; I wanted him to be a blunt instrument...when I was casting around for a name for my protagonist I thought by God, (James Bond) is the dullest name I ever heard.

Connery, Dalton and Brosnan made the best Bonds, PERIOD. Look at From Dr. No / From Russia with Love / Goldfinger / The Living Daylights / Goldeneye / Tomorrow Never Dies / Die Another Day
They really should find someone around age 35 to start off from, who could do 5 to 7 films, so by the time he does the last one, he doesn't look too old or worn out by then.
Craig was ok as Bond, the first film was good especially the drama & action scenes but the second was dull.
Craig looks ripped and fit (cool) BUT no chest hair ? (LOL) and blond ? I hoped that Clive Owen would take the role after Brosnan but it was not to be. Plus,I missed Moneypenny and Q in the Craig Bond films.

He's an okay Bond, but I would like to see someone else take on the role. What happened to that Idris Elba rumor?

He is an alright Bond. Quantum of Solace was the worst bond though. It was so dull and made no sense what so ever. If this next one isn't good then the Bond series is just going to get old.

of course sean connery is the best bond ever, but dc in 5 more bond films is to much for a guy who will be 44 years old his next birthday. come on give me a break with the overkill

Craig is a horrible Bond. They are just generic Jason Statham grade action movies now. Goldeneye was the best and Brosnan ruled as Bond. It isn't his fault that the producers bought a lame script and catered Madonna to Halle Berry's pitch for a spin off in Die Another Day.

Craig makes a great Bond, second only to Sean Connery who was head and shoulders above the rest. I don't know if he can pull it off for 5 more movies though, he will be an old (and old looking) Bond in another 8-10 years...

You could not be more wrong if you tired. Craig is, without question, the best bond since Connery. Undeniable fact.

Goldeneye was only the best because it had the best villain (how can you beat 00 agent vs. 00 agent?).

Speaking of Golden Eye, Sean Bean was brilliant, as he has been in all his films. He would have made a much better Bond than Dalton – the perfect mix of Connery, Dalton, Craig. He was brilliant in the Sharpe's series. They were idiots to choose Brosnan over Bean.

He really does look more like 63 than 43. No way this guy is less than 55 years old. Already wrinkly and old and bald.

I love Roger Moore, truly, but doing so many movies with the one actor leads to the series becoming camp. When the actor is pushing 60 and still making movies about an international spy, unless they're gearing the plot towards the agent's retirement, it gets bogged down and boring. I'd be happy to see two, perhaps even three, more appearances from DC as 007, but 5 more is way too much when he's already 43. Barbara Broccoli needs to start looking for a replacement Bond.

I like Daniel Craig as Bond, but 5 more movies??? The last one won't come out till he is over 60 years old. Do we need another 60+ year old Bond running around breaking his hip like Roger Moore? I don't think so. Two or three more movies at the most would be ideal. Then bring in some young guy again for the role.

They can film several at once these days. It will be really easy for him to do 5 more long before he is 50.

Ive heard news reports people have less Christmas spirit now than in many many years past. They said it might be because 1 in every 9 or 10 people being out of work and so many home foreclosures. Plus most have no hope of things getting better. That is sad. Maybe things will get better for everyone.

Me too. The Mission Impossible movies are made with all gay actors that are scientologist. Funny how being a closeted gay actor and scientology always go together.

The movie may have more action but I like the original cast members from the tv show even the revival series from '88-90.
I didn't like the fact that in the first movie, James Phelps turned out to be the villain.

Neat. I really like him in the role. Kind of an average looking guy doing incredible things. He is a million times better than Pierce Brosnan and some of the other Bonds.

I agree 100% Commander2012! Daniel Craig is a good actor, but this role doesn't fit him. I heard that Alex O'Loughlin from Hawaii Five-0 tried for it, but Craig was chosen instead! Who stupid is that??!! O'Loughlin would've been perfect!
