'Hairspray's' Nikki Blonsky picks up job at salonActress Nikki Blonsky has a new job aside from slinging shoes: The 23-year-old, who starred alongside John Travolta in the 2007 version of "Hairspray," has picked up a gig in a Long Island hair salon, reports RadarOnline. Blonsky confirms it via her Twitter account, writing, "Its true Im workin@ Superstar Salon as a makeup artist & more Im proud 2 b workin & helpin pay bills BUT ill NEVER loose sight of my dreams." She adds, "Just cause Im part time workin doesnt mean Im gonna give up on my dreams n dont give up on urs I might book something big soon keep positive."
Blonsky is one famous face who's not above taking a "regular" job in addition to her Hollywood hustle: Over the summer, People magazine discovered the star working in a boutique about "20 miles off Broadway" for a few days a week. RadarOnline reports that Blonsky's since received her cosmetology license, and does everything from makeup applications to sweeping the floor in the salon. And it looks like her fans embrace her hard-working attitude. Blonsky tweeted Tuesday, "Thank u all for ur love and support my fans are the best in the world! I'm truly blessed to have u all!" |

My god....they are shooting at her : (
Well I think she's a pretty good actress. I hope she holds onto her dream. some of the better actresses are not those mint thins. the best thing about bridemaids was melissa mccarthy. Nikki has nothing 2 be ashame of. How many people can say they did a movie, and a season of a show. I am sure the people commenting about her weight and whatnot can not say that
MMMMM I'D LIKE TO SMOTHER MY FACE IN HER BUTTCAKE.
When I saw "Nikki Blonsky" for some reason I thought the last word of the heading was salmon.
I think this is fabulous. Too many who have experienced a little fame or a little Hollywood success (former child actors and reality stars, I'm talking to you) assume it is like crossing a magical line, after which "regular" work is beneath them. I'm sure Nikki's humility and strong work ethic bode well for a long acting career. I'm wrong, at least we can take comfort knowing she won't be holding up a convenience store anytime soon in order to pay those bills.

Not to be mean but the part she played required that you be overweight. She fit the bill, and that was it...... She was big enough for this movie, but is def bigger than required for all others.....
well, let's face it.......do you really there is much call in Hollywood other than stereotypical roles for someone like her?! Look at that "Precious" big chick....cast as a maid in Tower Heist..........
Gabby (aka Precious) also has a reoccuring role on 'The Big C' with Laura Linney. So there are roles out there for actors that don't fit the typical Hollywood role.
@Guest, the point is, is that there are very few roles for someone of her size. She had her 15 min and its up.. She was lucky she got a role in the first place considering is considered obese in Hollywood.
That Gabby chick also only gets roles the require her be fat.... , the fat friend, the funny fat girl stuffing her face (like in Tower Hiest)
Just pray to Obama that she never gets a gig as a centerfold in Playboy....
She needs to save one of her empty potato chip bags for her face.
She made a lot of money, what happened? I guess she ate it all.
HAHAAHAHHAHA Funny
I say more power to her!
MMM, I like my girls when they don't skip on the cheesecake!
