'X Factor': The most emotional elimination yet?

If you thought Drew Ryniewicz's tears during last week's elimination were tough to watch, this week was no easier.

It was a difficult bottom two, with Rachel Crow and Marcus Canty both having to sing "survival" songs. But only one could stay, which meant someone else had to go...

After a deadlock decision, it was revealed that 13-year-old Rachel Crow was out. After letting the news sink in, the singer fell to her knees and began sobbing, which led Simon Cowell to rush to her aid. (He may have a reputation as a sourpuss, but clearly Cowell isn't a man without a heart.)

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LbWBrlT1NBA%5D

Judge Nicole Scherzinger, meanwhile, had to be comforted by Paula Abdul as she sat at the judges' table in tears. She probably needed another hug later on, as well, because the crowd booed her when she finally made an appearance on stage. Crow's mom also appeared to comfort her distraught daughter.

Nicole told Entertainment Weekly that she'd voted that Rachel should leave assuming Marcus would have been voted off, since he'd been in the bottom two before.

"Let's be honest here - I've gotten Marcus' back every week he's been in the bottom two. This is his third time in the bottom...The probability was that America would have sent Marcus home," she said.

Well, that didn't happen. But, Simon is envisioning bright things in Rachel's future.

"She's a 360 artist. I'm actually convinced she'll end up on Nickelodeon or Disney...We saw it happen with Jennifer Hudson," he said, recalling the former "Idol" contestant who went on to become a lauded singer and actress. "If you've got talent, I always say, everyone will support talent. They'll support tenacity."

As L.A. Reid said, this was an incredibly tough call. Do you think the judges made the right decision? And moreover, how tough was it to watch the elimination without getting emotional? You - or, your pets, apparently - can let us know with an iReport as well. Here's a kitty who thinks it's Nicole who should've been booted off.

I, for one, think this was the funniest thing I have ever seen on TV!!!! That little drama queen realy fooled everyone, and has a bright carreer ahead of her, despite the fact that she is a LOSER!!!

She acted like a child when she lost! fall to your knees and cry, give me a break, take the loss and be thankful you got that far. Anyway she has talent and its not like she wont get picked up by someone, I was embarressed for her actions for acting like a 3 year old not getting what she wanted.

I just think these shows are a waste of time. Except for Americas got talent. The only thing they are providing the public with is another autotune cutie. I have heard Britney Spears sing. And she would give Linda McCartney a run for her money.

Rachel should have been the winner of this year. Don't even spend a minute listening to the others except for Josh. I'm very disappointed with the result. Nicole and LA should have the guts to make the right decision if they want to find real talent like they always talk about. They voted off the only talent on the show.

Que cera, cera... This girl learned a HUGE lesson at a young age. I could only have been so lucky at her age. Who hasn't had a dream rejected, you get back up and don't give up. I also really don't see why Nicole is getting blamed? She'll do fine in the future and look how far she's already went, "glass-half full !!!"

Rachael looks like Angela Bofill in one of her pictures. She is very talented. Disney, Nick, Tyler Perry.....someone pick her up. She is MORE TALENTED than non-singing BEIBER, GOMEZ and half of the disney and nick crew. Rachael should NEVER fall by the wayside in that business! Kudos to her mom for being right at her side.

Nicole was hied to do a job. If she and Paula can't do their job, they need to give it up to someone who can. Marcus should have been kicked off AND the Rene guy who has NO talent. Dakota Rayne sucked and should've been kicked off a long time before they left. The only one who should STILL be on there is Drew. She may be depressing to some, but SHE AT LEAST IS TALENTED!

The whole X-Factor "culture" is nasty and divisive. This 13-year old girl (who looks about 9 in fact) should not have been participating. An age limitation of at least 16 should be made. The producers of X-Factor, notably Simon Cowell, are responsible for the style of the show, and I consider it to be destructive and unhealthy...... and it appears to be all in the name of MONEY. Shame!

The format of this show is faulted. These judges should not mentor specific groups as they all wind up voting for their own people. All the judges votes should be impartial without them having any axe to grind or try to cover for their people.
They should have celebrity mentors for each group which should eliminate any judges partiality.
If a judge cannot make the hard decisions they should not be a judge.

    Two things,

First, Rachel fans should blame themselves for not doing enough, you want your bet to win, but would not do anything to help her win.

Second, if Nicole chose the deadlock, that's her prerogative and it was part of the show. She let America choose, and its AMERICA who chose to send Rachel home.

-and why get rid of Nicole, the producers have a lot to thank for after this episode, X Factor wasnt pulling of the expectations in the ratings, thanks to last nights episode, there was a renewed interest for the program.

1 million views in Youtube in just a day! More than all of the previous episodes combined.

Good grief. Rachel and her 'stage Mom' can now go home. Her 'drama queen' reaction shows she's not ready. All of that 'cutesy pie" acting and what happens when she loses? Drama, drama, drama. If you want to be in the business handle your wins, and losses, with a little more grace. No matter what age you are.

Rachel Crow was not voted off by the American People. Nicole did take the coward way out and i am glade. I think that Rachel is too immature to be on a program like The X Factor. She acts or wants to make the appearance of being so innocent and sweet. I was getting tired of looking at her. As for L.A Reid, he did what he was suppoesed as Marcus's
mentor. If your mentor doesn't stick with you through good and bad then who will.

@Gae Schell...hmmm, then why is she going home if it didn't come down to the America's votes? Nicole cowered and let the voting decide...thinking(at least this was what I just read above)that America would vote out Marcus, seeing that it was his third time in the bottom two. Nicole cowered and gambled, and lost. C'est la vie!!

All the judges agreed tht Rachel sang much better than Marcus did on the "Sing for your life " which is what the judges were supposed to rate the singers on. I think Nicole doesn't have tne nerve to send the correct person home and due to her being a coward; the wrong person went home. I hope Nicole is not a judge on the upcoming season. L. A. even admitted Rachel blew him away with her song. I know he was the mentor of Marcus, but come on; if one person is so much better than the other person, you vote to keep your own person ? I am not against the fact that Rachel should have been on the bottom, but she did sing much better than Marcus when she had to sing for her life. That is the only thing that should have been what the judges voted on; nothing else.

Nicole was gutless. If Josh had been in the same situation as Rachel, Nicole wouldn't have appreciated another judge allowing him to be sent packing because they weren't willing to step up and do their job. Every week the voters put Marcus in the bottom two, and every week the judges bail him out. The only redeeming part of this whole story is that neither Rachel or Marcus are going to win, so the order in which they are sent home doesn't really matter. Still, Marcus knew he deserved to go home. He was ready to leave, and you could see it in his face. Nicole's cowardice allowed a 13 year old girl's heart to be broken. She should be ashamed of herself, but she is too shallow and self-indulgent to realize it.

I think this show is fixed. they know who is going to win and the judges are acting it out. Just look at how they took the judges votes. That loser LA was first, you know he has NO integrity and will vote for his guy (who can't hold a tune) and then Simon voted and you know he would vote for Rachel because she can sing. Paula was all up and clapping and crying for Rachel and you knew she'd vote for her. So, then there's that pathetic Nicole who hasn't got a thought of her own in that head who can't make a decision and who left it to the viewers, sure, fixed. They knew the vote and knew that Rachel was out. What the hell is the point of a sing-off if the clear winner isn\t kept. What a load of crap. The whole thing is a scandal and and the show should be cancelled. Shame on them. Drew is even a better singer than Marcus. Good grief. Fix it Simon! Change you judges or cancel the show.

I must be naive because I thought the booing from the crowd was to Steve who was asking an obviously very dustraught Nicole for a comment. I love Steve but that was a low blow.

I don't understand the hooha this is causing. America voted for Rachel to leave. But she's going to have a career anyway. She's that good. But her reaction to leaving had me concerned for two reasons: kids that young are just not emotional equipped to deal with the juggernaut that is this type of show. And I was worried that we saw some child tantrum-like behaviour from her when she lost. I worry that she is being fed crap from her patents and mentors and her world is no longer based in any realistic expectations. Scary.

But none if this matters. Josh and Melanie will be the final two standing anyway, as it should be, and they should all have a career. For all the complaining about the show, I still find the 'performance aspect if the show much better than Idol. Idol has singers. The X Factor has performers.

This is the dumbest show ever. All the judges give the thumbs up to THEIR people and have bad comments about the other judges' people. And LA Reid never says ANYTHING bad about ANY black singer and is obviously prejudiced. He is for all HIS people and any of the blacks. When he DOES say something not-so-nice to the people of his color – he does it really nicely – like he did for Rachel. Plus – Rachel was off key and this was not the first time. Actually, they all messed up – off pitch, etc. – but these judges are so busy trying to make sure this show stays on for another year, they are just not hearing it. American Idol, at least, tells the singers when they miss a note, are off pitch, etc. I personally would actually buy cd's made by Drew (who is not there anymore) and maybe this Josh. That's it. Show won't be on in three years.

@Patty Bee...I have to agree with you...this "team" show is terrible...if they do it again next year, I won't watch...it only leads to favouritism due to a particular, and maybe less able, singer being kept because he/she belongs to a particular judge...it is so wrong...terrible format...these judges just want to hear themselves speak anyways...I see a lot of immaturity not only in the young singers, but also in the judges...insecure and immature...and on national/international television for all to witness

Okay, calm down! I was upset, but I thought through it and am no longer upset.
I believe this happened because Rachel will be rich and well-off because she's a double threat. She can sing and act! She'll get plenty of offers, so I truly believe that someone else was given the opportunity to win the $5 million. The other contestant's opportunities are not as broad as Rachel's. So this way, more than one person gets the wealth. Rachel is will definitely be successful and wealthy, but now maybe Melanie or Josh will also be wealthy too. I guess I believe in divine intervention.

However, NIcole should have made the right call. I'm not sure why people are mad at LA. Marus's "save me" performance was excellent too, so I can't blame LA for voting for his guy.

Nicole's action was cowardly at best. She recognized that Rachel was the better of the two as it relates to the performance of the "Save Me" song. Assuming that the audience was already tired of Marcus as he had been in the bottom two before unveiled her incompetence as a judge. Say what we want about Simon, he may be proud and other such adjectives, but a judge's opinion about their colleague judge should not factor in the decision, it should be based on the performance. This will cause many to loose interest in the show. That same crap happened with Drew. Marcus should have been home long time ago.
You judges, be careful you don't destroy X-Factor before it gets established in America.

Agree with your last statement, Mark. I find the show appaling self centered on the judges – to the point that I think the contestants must think "Does my talent have anything to do with this or am I just fodder in the war between the judges". I've enjoyed the acts, but despise the judges. I realized how much I did NOT miss Simon Cowell on American Idol. He's rude and arrogant and a terrible example for those younger kids on stage. And if it's fake, as it surely must be, it's an even worse example. I don't think America loves this show.

I agree pippin – her over-the-top (and often interrupting) sort of Shirley Temple "I'm such a cute kid" act kept her from winning. It's too bad cause I think she had a phenomenal voice and could've easily won. And she's very young, and that could have been mentored out of her – or someone should have sat her down and told her to not do that. She came across as not humble, and so sure of winning – it's sad. But she'll have a great career.

He's produced artist like Pink, Avril Levign, Dido and even Justin Beiber oh yes and Mariah Carey. So unless I'm missing something, how is he racist, he' s just looking out for his mentees. That's what producers do, they look out for their artist not the other labels artists.

I don't see anyone mentioning what I think really tanked Rachel in the voting – and that was her over-the-top sort of faked cuteness act – it was annoying (as even Simon remarked) and on Wednesday's show, it was actually very off-putting. I hated it because she was always my favorite, but after Wednesday's show, I said to my sons "Um, I think her behavior may have cost her the finals". It's too bad that she couldn't have been in the bottom two in some other week, so she would have gotten a grip on that cloying, interjecting, stand up sort of routine she had gotten into. She might have had a reality check early enough to reduce her overacting and be more real. Her voice was phenomenal, and her maturity of voice amazing. She will have a career, for sure. So sorry the reality that this wasn't a slam-dunk came so suddenly this late in the game. She could have been the winner.

I agree that it's a flawed show when you have judges that have to vote for their own. They aren't voting then for the best of the night. The music world know who had the better performance, and she will be the more successful artist going forward.

You all seem to be missing how LA Reed set her up on performance. He announced publically that Hollywood already had their eye on her. So, voters believing she was already made therefore had no need to vote for her as it seemed she had already won and steered to their votes in another direction to give someone else a chance. LA Reed should never have told everyone that people were aready considering her, subtle and sly. yes, Nicole thought Marcus was bottom tow and banked on that because she was too much of a coward to say what she felt and what she gets paid to do.

Rachel was so convinced she was going to win, she was even comforting poor Nicole, telling her "Don't cry," & that she would be "all right" with whatever decision was made. Clearly, she was not. The only person who looked more amazed than Marcus was Rachel when she learned she wasn't continuing. Just poor sportsmanship, really. I don't even know how much of her mourning was genuine – seemed forced & few tears flowed. Just a Freak show.

I'm not a fan of the show, my mother is and made me watch last night's elimination. That was a horrible thing to witness. I believe that Rachel is too young to be on this show. Her reaction showed quite clear that her maturity level cannot handle rejection. I cannot imagine someone 18 and up reacting the way she did. Contestants her age should not be competing with people a lot older and more mature. If the producers want to allow someone her age to compete, then there should be age groups. I don't think it was fair to Rachel, her fans and the hundreds or thousands of young kids that had to witness her immature and, albeit silly, reaction. She's clearly not ready for the spotlight. How's she going to react when she loses a Grammy?

In my opinion I don;t think it was anyones fault that Racheal got sent home. Should Nichole be punished for America's opinion and vote? I thought that was what X-factor's whole purpose. To give america a voice. Nichole just didn't want to hurt anybody. Marcus , in my opinion did the better job Wen. nite and apparently did too. Racheal is young and all the time in the world to try again she is so talented at her young she will not have any problems makin it. So before you judge anyone or anything you need to think about the whole point of the show. If you feel someone shouldn't go home then vote.

I loathe this show – has a lousy format. Seemed like a contest between the judges! Sick of S. Cowell. He does not judge the way he did in American Idol especially for the group he mentored. So, if you are in his Group, you are saved from any critiques from him as he wants to prove he is the better mentor.
Nicole, you did the right thing. You are the judge and you have the right to decide. SJones, you did the best you can. It is not easy to work within the time frame and four judges!

When Drew and Marcus were competing for survival, she decided to save Marcus because she said he gave a better performance than Drew and that's what mattered but she didn't feel the need to hold on to that principle when she needed to judge Rachel's survival song vs. Marcus', which was far superior. Rachel's reaction is what happens when you put a child under so much pressure. I think the combination of the show and a stage mother is what happened. It's weird, it was like she was apologizing to her mother for getting kicked off?? Did anyone else notice that? Poor girl. Maybe they should up the age limit. It's hard to watch these young kids break down like this. And the host, good grief. He looked liek he wanted to run off the stage and hide. And I'm sure the producers were screaming in his ear to recover. Damn, yes, after watching a little girl get crushed, no biggie. And to Nicole, all these people giving her death threats are stupid. But you failed to do you job. You put it at a deadlock because you were afraid to send someone home. So either do your job from here on out, or don't come back next year.

Back on Idol, Simon said Jordin Sparks "wiped the floor" with Blake Lewis, the beatbox guy. That is exactly what Rachel did last night: she wiped the floor with Marcus Canty. She has been inconsistent all season, going through when perhaps she shouldn't have, but when it came down to "save me" last night, she blew everyone out of the water. It was incredible. Canty just didn't get it done. I do think Chris Renee was great on his second song, but he's been kept around far too long. Drew should still be in it. Astro should still be in it. (He's brilliant at what he does.) But people vote based on popularity, not on performance. That said, it was ludicrous what Nicole did. If she truly thought Rachel was better, she should have voted to send Marcus home. If she truly thought he was better, she should have voted to send Rachel home. As it was, she made an assumption, and is now paying for it. So is Rachel–and so is Marcus, who knew damn good and well he lost the sing-off. You could tell by his body language. (And yes, he did want to help Rachel; Stevecrest sent him away.) Simon and L.A. are music producers; they know what's required and can make the tough decisions even when it hurts people. Paula and Nicole had a couple of hits apiece, but they don't have one ounce of talent compared to these contestants and they vote on emotion, not reality. Women CAN be tough–but not these two.

Rachel sang for her life last night and gave the best performance she's ever done, on a par with Melanie. She was far superior to Marcus, who sings the same safe thing over and over again. Nicole is an extremely well paid judge, paid more, I'm sure than any member of the U.S. Supreme Court. Can you imagine the reaction if Chief Justice John Roberts Jr. wailed and weeped like a little girl that he just couldn't decide? And therefore left it up to America's vote from the day before? A vote that was NOT based on Rachel's amazing do-or-die performance?

Nicole–you are paid to be a judge, so do the f***ing job and stop complaining. This show is not about you and your politically correct nonsense. I'm getting sick and tired of watching these 4 rich people pretend to mentor the performers, particularly the kids like Rachel. L.A. Reed–you destroyed Astro by boosting his ego for no reason. And you, Nicole have been needlessly cruel, subjecting that child to your whims and phony tears. Just who is the adult? For gosh sakes, grow up. You deserved to be booed off the stage and out of the studio.

I had hoped that X-Factor would be better than Idol in that the judges would have a big say in who stays and who goes. I am terribly disappointed by the stupid infighting and garbage that spews from the mouths of some of the judges. Maybe the producers want to show a difference between X-Factor and Idol. But this is not the way to do it. I will watch to the end of this series to see how Melanie and Josh do. After this, I am done. You have lost a viewer.

Shame on Cowell and the producers for so crassly exploiting the young. It's a show. All but the best and/or most popular get booted. The emotionally devestating Astro and Rachel vote-offs should question the wisdom of allowing the very young, totally unprepared for life, to be the subjects of commercialization. Rachel clearly was a "cutie", but does not have the pipes compared to the remaining actors, neither did Astro – who may be a great poet, but a lousy singer. Astro despite all will clearly have a great career, as he already had the success factor. Rachel on the other hand – may have been scarred for life.

Since Cowell and LA would vote for their own, it was up to the women to choose the looser – again shame on the guys for shirking their duty.

Xfactor needs a little tweeking. If they want to leave is up to the fans in the case of a deadlock let the live audience vote, that way it's still in the hands of the fans, but they can actually base it on the save me song and therefore really make the save me song worth something more then lip service.

Using her own words, "Its not about you Nicole" and " I have to vote off the one who's song moved me the most", its clear that Nicole is not only a hypocrite but very narcissistic as well. Not only that put there has been a street of racism in the show right from the beginning. Its clear Paula and Nicole are acting like two plantation owners sisters playing with the slaves. They obviously hate white women, as you could tell during the auditions or as Simon and L.A. agreed to say D.O.A. every time blonde white women came on the stage to sing and how they fawned over every black dude with half an ounce of talent. I've watched the show despite these flaws and Drew's save me song was not as good Marcus's so Nicole got to slide the knife in with a small semblance of excuses but what see did to Racheal is unforgivable. Get rid of her and bring on a white star whose doesn't hate the colour of her own skin and hopefully balance the show out.

If the judges who are hired to judge aren't willing to do it they should be replaced immediately. Nicole is a coward who doesn't deserve her place on the panel. Why have these kids sing to be saved and then throw it away with a deadlock that ignores their latest performance? It mocks their own rules and is just stupid. I'm not really a great fan of Rachel but her "save me" song was by far the best performance of the entire week by any of the artists. I thought it was funny. Makes the X Factor all the more exciting to watch each week. Marcus gets more television time than most of the other contestants. He's already gotten three extra performances. Rachel Crow was sent home the same way that Astro was – by the viewers. Astro was sent home during the only show that the contestant wasn't able to compete in a face-off. Rachel got sent home because she had the viewest votes as well. It's the way the cookie crumbles. Might be some more surprises. Go X-Factor!

Everybody is missing the point. Fact, Rachel is damn good. Fact, she sung her butt off in the sing off...but she was pretty bad the night before for the first time. That's why there is a fan vote, not only for the basics but to decide tie breakers. Marcus is damn good, but he will never get a fair shake since he has been a bottom dweller, and also cause he made it and Rachel didn't. The judging drama really doesn't matter. At the end of the day, we all know it will come down to Josh and Melanie.

If Marcus gets voted off, maybe his fans – along with Astro's fans – will vote for Chris Rene and he'll upset one of them. YouTube X Factor winners to date are (based on largest hits to one of their music videos): Chris Rene (9,961,053), Melanie (5,524,860), Josh (3,881,767), Marcus (2,735,389). Also, Marcus (2,735,389) beat Rachel Crows (2,729,884).

The judges are paid to get a job done: mentor, critique and make choices. The deadlock procedure is just and emergency one for, you guessed it, deadlock when the judges do make decision split in the middle. Nicole didn't do her job.
The singers did their part and they deserve respect, which means judges actually making life changing decisions. Nicole adbicated her responsability, and melodramatically at that.

I think the whole show is pre scripted. Most all of the emotions shown by the Judges and contestants are nothing more than acting, bad acting, I might add. This is Simon's show and Melanie will win for that reason. I believe that was decided long time ago. Steve Jones is a bad host. Ryan Seacrest could mop him up with a toothpick. Sure she shouldn't have taken the easy way out, but both Marcus and Rachel sang incredibly well and it was a tough decision. Now I'm more a Melaine fan so when I say that Marcus was the better of the two as he can sing a diffrent genre's, rachel can not and she proved that when she sang the night before, both songs she sang were was way belong what we expect, she could only hit high notes. but then again Chris should have been there in the bottom two. Another guy who can only sing one style. So lay off the judges, ask yourself can you do what was expected after all the time they have been with these contestents.

I don't feel sorry for Rachel Crow, I know her past attempt to sypathyze people, but from day one, I didn't like her, is not all about voice, is a component of a lot of things which includes looks, versatility and marketability, etc. I don't feel sorry for her, because I personally believe Stacy Francis is more talented than her and they kicked her out because Simone didn't like her, his comments were the worst on her than anybody else's on this show. I believe the winner will be Melanie Amaro, from day one, she has the whole package, but that voice is the best among the finalist. Simone made another mistake on another contestant besides Melanie Amaro, he overlooked Jazzlyn Little (just because that stupid weird looking guy said that her performance was like a high school show).

Last week, Marcus was in bottom 3, and judges decided to retaliate against Simon and voted off the better performer. This week Nicole didn't want to be the "bad" person and wouldn't vote Marcus off the show (eventhough he has been in the bottom 3 times). Reed stood by his man as he should (his comments made me think he thought Rachel had a better performance). Its the role of the judges that don't have a person in the sing-off to pick the best performance (the other two judges offset each other), and that did not happen last night in my opinion. I don't know if I want to watch a show that has just demonstrated an outstanding ability to NOT be fair to their own rules. I wonder if the crowd will BOO Nicole at next weeks show or if the voters will take it out on her and not vote for her singer in next weeks show.

I have -0- faith or confidence in the voting process, and believe this show is rigged to bleed theatrics onto the small screen every week. Way too coincidental that the same person is in the bottom three for three weeks running, yet lives to fight another day EVERY WEEK!!! The entire show is way over the edge in theatrics, with big stage dancing and singing background, special effects, etc. The contestants sometimes are totally drowned out by their surroundings. Do you also realize that thanks to that knucklehead Nicole, that Paula now comes across as the mature, level headed judge....how's that!

I quit watching American Idol a couple of years ago because of debacles like this. I gave X-Factor a chance because of its format allowing the judges to choose between the two bottom contestants. I was wrong. That would require judges that had the intelligence to discern levels of talent and the "X" factor; something that Nicole Scherzinger is severely lacking. While Rachel was not my choice to win, perhaps Nicole was jealous that Rachel has more talent now than Nicole could ever hope to have. Regardless, I've watched my last X-Factor.

If I want a level of intelligence and intellectual honesty higher than the X-Factor, I can just watch infomercials.

This is a contest and there are winners and loser and if you are not prepared to possibly lose then you should not be in the contest. I am not looking at the individuals or their talent I am looking at the overall picture. You need to be mature enough to win or lose it is that simple. As far as the judges are concerned...MAN UP!!! You are asked to judge a contest and you need to stand behind your decisions. This was actually embarassing to watch. I turned the station last night and came across the show after the vote had been read so I had no idea what had happened. I thought somoene had died. Then the mother comes running out and there is mayhem and the judges are all comforting this child (she is a child) and the judges are crying and the audience is booing....are you kidding me. I saw less drama when I accidenlty paused on a reunion of the one of the house wives shows. I wish everyone would show they same amount of passion for the REAL important things happening in our everyday lives. Lets boo politicians that are supposed to be having our back...lets boo murders and rapists...lets cry for the children of the missing mom or the mom with the missing child. Lets cry for the police officer that was killed and applaud all of the heros listed on the home page of CNN.com. Let me ask you a question...since you love voting processes so much did you vote for your CNN Hero?

Nicole should be ashamed of herself. I am really disgusted with her that she didn't have the stones to make up her mind and it backfired. The only one left with any real talent is Melanie, and if one of those forgettable males wins I'm done with the X-Factor for good. That horrible warbling Drew should have been axed the first week. Listening to her was painful. And the remaining boys all stink.

Nicole did not want to choose & I remember she turned to Paula, then Paula whispered something to Nicole. Only then did Nicole ask for a deadlock. She was told that she would have to say the words to vote off Rachel before it could go to a deadlock and she looked confused. I know Nicole made a mistake by not sending Marcus home but I feel she listened to Paula who I believed this may be the only way to save Rachel & Nicole could get out of the loop. These 2 women are responsible for what happened. Nicole could have overridden America's vote and Rachel would have been saved. She was the better singer. Paula is just as guilty, in my mind, for possibly suggesting a deadlock. Nicole has to take accountability and she was devastated, as we all saw, because this was not just her decision. A very sad situation.

However, her mother need to prepare her for rejection, bad reviews, nasty remarks and not much of a childhood. Her breakdown was painful to watch. Her mother "promised" her that she would win. She should be telling her that in order to get to smooth pavements, there's a bumpy road full of pot holes first.

Had Nicole done her job, which is JUDGE, then it would not have gone in to Deadlock. People are saying to blame America for letting Rachel go, but it indeed was Nicole's fault. Such a waste for them to sing their "save me" songs when it didn't matter in the first place. What bothered me was that Nicole was asking LA who she should vote for and it look like he suggested something to her. But I guess it's good for the shows ratings and it also pays to have your boyfriend as the host of the show. I'll still keep watching because I believe in Melanie Amaro, however, network television has proven that the best usually isn't what's best for the shows ratings. SMH Rachel Crow WILL move on to become more successful than the others, even far more better than Nicole Scherzinger, who has had to rely on a group for her success unlike Rachel Crow.

That is the last show I will watch of XFactor . If the judges can't recognize the best talent and don't have the guts to vote for the right person then why have judges that can vote. Nicole had a chance to make sure the right person went through, which was Rachel, but she didn't want to be part of the decision so she left it to the public. Send Nicole home she can't do her job and bring back Rachel.

Instead of casting their vote publicly, the judges should each have a voting pad with a cover they could reach in and anonymously cast their votes, then one-by-one the host (whatever his name is) could show the "score," and if it's a tie, then go to the tie breaker. Would even be interesting to show the vote totals so that the audience/contestants could see just how people voted. It would definitely take the "train wreck" of a vote off of the judges...and allow them a chance to not take all the heat for a decision.

Rachel should not have went home or even been in the bottom two. I am not sure what America is listening to but clearly not talent. I don't understand how Chris Rene is still on there. He is awful. Well I feel that Melanie Amaro is the best of the bunch and should definitely win.

10 million people don't agree that Chris Rene is awful. Melanie sings like she's in church. I hear Patti LaBelle when she sings. It's true, Chris doesn't have the best voice, he has the X Factor though, can write music and lyrics. I'd pay to see him. I wouldn't pay to see Melanie. A dime a dozen. A better singer than her was sent home based on the fact that she was too fat (not X Factor material). Melanie will win I'm sure, but Chris will go far as well.

I think Rachel would be great with a show of her own or even on Broadway. She's very talented. I was seriously disturbed by her reaction, though. Like others have said, it's clear that some contestants might be too young to handle the stress and pressure. I felt so sorry for the poor girl. And oh yeah, Nicole's an idiot. have any of you nicole haters ever been to a taping of the show? i was there for this past wednesdays show, and nicole probably had the most love from the audience. and for those of you who think it's so easy to just pick a person to send home, they wouldn't have created the deadlock if that were true. besides, i think watching the show in the audience is a completely different experience to watching on tv because rachel and marcus really did perform on par with each other, so it was really anyone's game. and let's all be honest, neither one of them were going to win anyway, so it doesn't matter who gets sent home first. plus, rachel's still a kid. she doesn't need to win x factor with the kind of exposure the show has already given her.

The audience was chanting Rachel's name as they were waiting for Nicole to decide on her vote. There was no question that if the 'sing a song to be saved' is a part of the show, then Rachel won that with her performance. Plus, Marcus had been in the bottom three 3 weeks in a row. And all the boos Nicole received after she made her choice, don't reflect what you were saying.

The idea of having the 'Save" song is for the judges to vote on who they will save; it should not go to the American votes. So Nicole did not judge, she will have to live with it and I hope she does not return for next year. Actually for next year and it has been mentioned in other posts, lets have a odd number of judges so there is no tie-breaker, maybe five judges and Simon should be the last judge to vote.

it's easy to say that when an adult is making a scene like that.."oh, they're being overdramatic, oh its a bit much"...remember this is a child who lost their dreams, and the judges recognize that not only does she probably not have the emotional maturity to take it well but that seeing a child so talented hurt so badly must make them feel bad, too.

It is clear that children are not equipped to handle this kind of pressure, standing expose at the bottom for the whole show, then forced to perform at the end for supposedly saving her position, and after she performs like a seal, it was for nothing because Nicole decided it was about "her" and not about the performer. As a judge she failed and she came out as false as a 4 dollar bill.

Two points: It is a conflict of interest for a coach or mentor to be judging on someone they are coaching.
    (2) The video votes were what counted in a deadlock ... it ws not pointed out that the public votes did NOT include tonights performance. Rachel pulled out all the stops for possibly the best performance of the season. Both points are bad program and production design.

Absolutely agree!! It seems they could come up with something – like you said. How can they be called "Save me songs" if they don't count in the end?? Maybe the live audience should have clickers & they should vote. Or they need 1 impartial judge. The mentor's votes are null-and-void – other two judges vote & if it is a tie, have a person be the tie breaker.

Little is being mentioned that the mentors never vote against their person. So really the final vote is up to just two people each week, not four. They are not being intellectually honest. L.A. obviously was impressed with Rachel's Save song, but chose "his man." And that is the over-riding flaw of the methodology. They are too close to the talent on their team. They need separate mentors from judges. Maybe have the audience decide on the Save song. Give them key pads like on Millionaire.

I admit, If I were a boy....her song at bootcamp – AMAZING JOB, last nights sing off... – AMAZING JOB ...but every performance i see I am like, she hits the notes, she can sing, she sounds like a kid, *I* don't want to hear a kid sing...NEXT! I agree that judges should have a backbone, if you want to let America's vote decide, act like you are really voting for whoever and just declare "bla bla!" then you have the deadlock and don't act the tool...

Side Note: There really is no point imho to compete further....Josh cannot sing all around, just certain styles and not all of those notes, marcus is a great "performer" does the dance, moves, hits all the notes, but voice is harsh and horrid unless he is singing a slow marvin gay/luther V type song...and the trashman recovering meth addict – just ruined anyones claim to talent with his audition (original song) and more so with his second song this week, that song is such a hit, it's Bruno Mars hit stuff, background singers, electric it a bit...amazing, if he can write 1 more song like that, he's already bigger than most 11 years of Idol and definately bigger here, pure voice, Melanie is the winner 🙂

Insert Flames: but Chris Renee will get a deal and is already a winner after that amazing (pop) song

It makes no sense to have these performers do songs from different styles, then criticize them when they can't cross over. If I buy a CD or songs from Metallica for example, I don't want to hear Metallica sing dance songs or hip hop songs. Therefore, Josh is by far the most talented because he is the better at the rock genre than the others are in their given genres. Chris' second song was awful and very simplistic although it did allow him to finally hit a note or two. Marcus has moments where he sings quite well, but rarely is his pitch anywhere approaching average at best. Melanie hits most of her notes, but seems incredibly boring on stage. I understand that the new rules of the music industry dictate that an artist doesn't necessarily have to be capable of singing well, but wouldn't it be nice???

@Renee – You don't have a clue what you are talking about. Did you just start watching the show last night? Go to Youtube and watch Rachel sing If I Were a Boy – she sings it better than Beyonce. This little girl has the most class and more talent than anybody on the show – including the judges. She deserved to win. And I guarantee she will be a bigger star than any of the others. I thought it would come down to Rachel and Melanie – but, then again, they probably won't allow that because they are both Simon's. Looks like Melanie's got this in the bag now. Oh and by the way, listen closer – "Mommie" says "It's OK everything will be alright." And Rachel says, "You promise me Mommie?" She didn't say anything about promising she would win. The issue is that they are poor and they sacrificed alot to get her there and to be there with her. And Rachel felt bad that she didn't win for them. I'm in my 40s and have watched these shows (like American Idol) for years and never bought single mp3 any of these singers. I guarantee you I will buy hers – she's a great singer!

Nicole is a coward. She assumed that the viewers would have voted for Rachel. But it was her responsibility to judge honestly on their "save" song of that night, not to rely on viewers who were judging on past performances. That is not the object of the save song. @Renee, I totally agree with Chuck. You are totally off base. You need to go back and listen to the video of Rachel saying "promise me?" Her mother was comforting her, telling her it was ok and Rachel was begging her to promise her it would be ok. Rachel is an incredibly charismatic and talented young lady. I looked forward to Rachel's performances each week and will miss them. As for NIcole, she needs to find a new hobby. She never have been chosen to be a judge. She knew when she accepted the position what the rules were and what was expected of her. It made me ill watching her theatrics when the vote did not go the way she assumed it would. She should have been up there comforting Rachel, not making a spectacle of herself, crying and carrying on about the results of what she'd done. I hope Simon looks for integrity in the next judge.

@Cheryl...no, Rachel was actually saying.."mommie, you promised...mommie, you promised..." Like now it was her moms fault that she got booted

Honestly, that is not the proper way to judge. I mean I get her point and most people think like she does, but she should have at least kept that to herself. But in the end Rachel is gone, nothing can be done it's over with. And people should really just accept that and get over that fact.

Rachel Crow killed it last night.. Nicole should have never let it go to a deadlock!! I wish Rachel the best in her future endeavors.

For those of you who are boo hooing about Rachel being voted off, you should have voted for her! It was America's decision to get her off the show.

Couldn't agree more. This should be Nicole's first and last season on the show. She can never make decisions, and when she does, they are poor ones.

I think the show needs to get a new judge and let that bug nicole scherzinger go. Rachel blew marcus out of the water.

LA and Nicole are not judges. They are idiots. I'm through with X-Factor until Simon gets real judges. How stupid, LA. "I'm a man of principles." I don't think so or you would have done the right thing and voted for the best. Nicole, "they are not paying you to think and second guess America, you are a judge and should act accordingly or get off the show. Nicole and LA have ruined a good show.

But Jeanlo, for Paula it was between her own two, so I understand why she let America decide...... neither one of these were Nicole's contestants... I just want to reach through the TV and punch Nicole right in the face...(joking).. she is sooooo annoying... not just last night...but every night...

The point of the deadlock is when judges honestly disagree about who had the better performance in the sing-off. Now, if Nicole really felt that Marcus won the sing-off or that it was too close to call, I wouldn't fault her. But it was obvious not only from the performances themselves but from Nicole's own reaction afterwards that she clearly knew/felt Rachel had the better performance. She simply didn't want to make the tough choice that she knew was the correct one–in failing to do that, she failed to do what was her obligation as part of the job that she's paid the big bucks to do.

This show is seriously flawed. By having teams, the mentors finds themselves constantly voting for his/her own contestant, whether they are the best or not. The sing off is a cruel trick on the contestants. The judges already know who they are going to vote for, even before the sing off. Why make them think that last song means anything? LA was so cruel by not even clapping for Rachel. How can a judge not clap for someone giving it their all? He should be ashamed, even more so than Nicole. Nicole, as a paid professional should have voted based on performance, even it that meant Rachel was voted off. These judges need to separate mentoring from judging, and if they can't, the show should have separate judges from mentors. It's obvious that this show has become more of a contest between the judges at the expense of the contestants.

BTW – that spokesman really blows!!

I agree. Nicole and Paula are both far less professional than LA or Simon. In fact, they both seem like they're on the verge of breakdowns.

      Two things,

First, Rachel fans should blame themselves for not doing enough, you want your bet to win, but would not do anything to help her win.

Second, if Nicole chose the deadlock, that's her prerogative and it was part of the show. She let America choose, and its AMERICA who chose to send Rachel home.

It was a good move in my opinion, since its America anyway who'd buy the records.

LA doesn't have a pair or the guts to vote and shouldn't be a judge. The sing off is to convince the judges to keep you and LA even admitted Rachael blew him away, so why not vote to keep the person that won the sing off? If not the case, just eliminate the sing off if the judges are only going to vote for "their guy" anyway.

This show lost it's appeal following the auditions. It is way over produced, too drawn out and features far too much self indulgence for the judges in every show and the host is terrible. Only the DVR saves this from falling off my list of bad shows to watch on tv.

Do you even watch the show? LA was Marcus' mentor. No way a mentor isn't going to vote for their singer.

BTW I am a Rachel fan. I have no reason to watch this show anymore. Although Rachel's performance was actually the weakest this time, Marcus should have gone home for all of his horrible performances.

So this throws up two big questions for me – is it right to have kids this young involved in a show like this? I think the emotional outburst by Rachel has to bring that into question. Great talent of course but emotionally ready maybe not. And if the judges haven't got the strength to cast a true vote they shouldn't then breakdown when the public votes. Nicole you are paid hundreds of thusands of dollars to so just this and you chickened out.

I didn't watch the show I just saw this clip. Watching her reaction I am happy she didn't win. I felt bad for Marcus, It was his moment of a lifetime and she took it from him. The camera should have been showing his proud moment not the tantrum of that little girl.
