Manolo Blahnik doesn't approve of Suri's high heelsFamed shoe designer Manolo Blahnik has a warning for tiny fashionista Suri Cruise. In an interview with New York Magazine, the man behind Carrie Bradshaw’s favorite sky-high stilettos was shocked to learn that Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise’s tiny tot already prefers pumps. “She wears high heels?” Manolo asked, incredulously. He wasn’t previously aware of Suri’s existence, but when he found out the 5 year-old runs around in heels, Manolo admonished, "That girl is destined to be a victim of a high heel!" Hear that, Tom and Katie? Not even one of the world’s foremost shoe makers approves of Suri’s mature footwear! Maybe Suri should ask Santa for some Crocs. |

Great website. Lots of helpful info here. I'm sending it to some buddies ans also sharing in delicious. And obviously, thank you in your sweat!
She's a good lookin girl who's looks are further accentuated with pretty shoes. So much hype as to whether the shoes she is wearing in the image are heels or not. The image in this link would definitely be categorized as her strutting in high heels.
http://s17.postimage.org/j10plie3j/Suri_Stiletto.jpg
Why? She has years and years to wear heels, she will only be a little girl for a very short time.... I think it is incredibly sad.
Plz, next.
The shoes this guy makes are ridiculously bad for your feet. Suri certainly doesn't run around in anything remotely resembling "high" heels.
This poor child's aching feet are the least oher problems...her dad is!!!
Katie Holmes has said that Suri's heels are professional dancing shoes made for children studying formal dance. I highly doubt that Suri wears heels 24/7. So she wants to dress like her Mom sometimes; what is the big deal? Yeah, little Suri is no doubt spoiled rotten, but that is up to Mr. & Mrs. Cruise. I can't imagine they would put her health in danger no matter how much they choose to spoil her.
Clearly, Scientologists raise their girls to be wh 0res
This is the dumbest thing I have ever read. I'm ashamed at myself for even posting a comment, but high heels on a small child? What's the point? Just proves my point that Tom Cruise and his wife are the biggest dbags on the planet.
She'll have bounions by the time she is six.
Too funny... little boys can wear their jeans sagging and hats indoors, play with toy guns/swords and dress like superheroes/monsters galore but have a little girl in make-up or kitty kat heels sound the alarm!
Joe, read the other comments. Wearing a hat indoors, while bad manners, isn't going to ruin your health in the long run. Wearing heels (yes, even at that height) as a child will do permanent damage to a girl's (or boy's for that matter) spine, feet, ankles and hips.
Yall need to mind your own business. If you don't like the shoes, don't wear them. Beyond that keep your brainless banter to yourself. Thanks much.
What a silly discussion. I can't believe anyone would imply that the parents are unfit because they let their little girl enjoy making a fashion statement. Those are not high heels, they are fairly low and cute. And 5 year old girls are notorious for needing to make a statement and dressing how they like. She won't be dissuaded by parents or health experts. She'll probably just move on to something else in a short time because she is 5! Choose your battles people, who would argue with a 5 year old over shoes?
She looks very cute in their pretty high heels. Its really look very funny when she use to walk in their high heels. I think she find some difficulty in making balance in high heels.
She wants some shoes like Daddy's!!!
Who really knows if she wears these all the time though. Is that acutally fact or just fodder for the public melee?
I'm sure Tom and Katie have some Scientology secret to deal with the inevitable health problems of wearing high heels. Maybe L. Ron Hubbard convinced them that pumping Suri full of niacin and sticking her in a sauna will cure plantar fasciitis.
Sing it Soylent. I Love it.
high heels were invented by a man so that a woman's calf would be more pronounced while wearing them in a dress-that is the sole intent of heels-pun intended!
When I was that age, and in dance classes, they will NOT allow you to go on pointe until you are much older, because your feet haven't developed yet, and you can cause problems. Same concept with heels. In fact, heels are really never a good idea, medically speaking.
im flat footed and a guy so i dont even care about shoes all that much cept how long they gonna last me and when you ask then y am i reading this article heres your answer i thought they were talking about that suri on the ipod or droid or whatever gagdet that AI chick is on
Little girls play dress up all the time?
What's the big deal?
Why does CNN compose articles about a 5 year old.
All five your olds, unless kidnapped or murdered, should not be included in the news. They are irrelevant.
Cute, but irrelevant. Nothing they say or do really matters. They're five, no matter who their parents are.
Actually looks like pretty great parenting to me: Suri looks like a happy and free-spirited kid whose parents refuse to fall victim to worrying about how the world might judge the attire of their child they go out in public. Bravo!
I would agree with you, AmyG, except that heels are ALWAYS damaging to the body, whether little girl or grown women. The damage is just far worse with young children because their bodies are still growing. Wearing positive heeled shoes all the time causes all of the muscles in the foot, calf, back of thigh, butt, and back to shorten. Aside from the pain this causes over the years, it prevents the nerves from firing properly, and reduces blood flow to the muscle. No child should be subjected to that damage at such a young age. Let her damage her body once it is out of the primary growth stage. Heels are not necessary for a happy, free-spirited child. Let her be happy in ways that won't cause chronic pain over her entire life.
She can borrow them from her father when she becomes an adult
YES!
Wow!She is looking so pretty and i think wearing high heels can add a style to your personality.I really like it and i think high heels suits with each dress
true...she is really miss cutie pie princess...if she doesn't wear all those fancy little girl dresses&shoes, who should?...rich parents who can afford should dress their kids well, hers are one of the richest...she looks adorable, and it's not like she always wears heels.she can't help it if she's photographed every time she wears heels.
Who is getting paid to write this crap? I would like a paycheck for nothing!
hahahahaha...me too!
DITTO!
Alrightly! Who the F cares. She is kid. Those heels are no more heel than the other shoes for little girls. The shoe does not have a wide chunky heel like ther others. Who is Manolo and who cares about her opinion...she is not your kid. Sounds like the shoe designer trying to draw attention to herself.
First the designer is a man.. Second, she wears the shoes often and has been photographed several times in different colours. It is inappropriate for a child to be wearing heels... You are right, it is not our kid or responsiblity, but its about what is right..... Wearing those at the age of 4 or 5 is not acceptable
Please remove yourself from the humanoid gene pool. Average IQ will go up at the same time.
The pic is obviously one where Suri is playing dress-up like normal kids do. My kids do the same thing. Get a life instead of ribbing on a 5 year old!!!!
Hey AddyAdore, I understand dress up in your home. This child was out and about in NYC with those shoes not playing dressup. Its not ribbing on a 5yr old, its address her irresponsible parents and their irresponsible parenting! As you know, since you have children, children can only do what their parents allow.. I am sure you wouldnt allow you 4 yr old to walk the street of NYC in heels all day long!
AND..she's been wearing them since she was at least 3.
Sounds like both parties wanted to be in the spotlight, said that all r using children to gain the spot. but what does america want, gossip!
He's not her father and neither are any of us,he should concentrate on his fall line for next year.
Crocs are terrible for childrens feet. So i am sure her parents will get her some.
They're not the plastic heels I wore when I was young – they're expensive real high heels and she wears them constantly. It's not good for the feet or proper growth of the spine.
the problem with kids so young wearing heels is that it can damage the proper growth of their feet, causing foot problems when they get older.
You are kidding right? Really look at that heel. If you had a little girl and I have three, you would know that heel is no more than the norm. The only difference is the the heels are usually chunkier. Its still wide enough for stability. Plus look at the dress, its for an occassion not an everyday ordeal.
What "special occasion" involves a place selling Singer sewing machines (in the background)? They are at the mall shopping. And yes it does affect developing feet on a young child. By the time she reaches adulthood she will be walking on her toes even when she doesn't have shoes. Heels are for adults/older teens and should be left in those age groups. This is just another example of how celebrities are idiots...
Jim D, it could very well have been a photo snapped on a trip to a shopping mall to have her picture taken with Santa. I try to avoid the malls around Christmastime, but every time I do go, I see dozens of kids in dressier get-ups than that, running around to burn off all the built-up energy from standing in line waiting to see Santa. Most of them are also wearing uncomfortable looking shoes, since the position of "sitting on Santa's lap" generally exposes the child's footwear, and parents want the picture to be perfect.
I don't want to come across as "Team Suri" or anything, but just wanted to point out that there's a perfectly reasonable and likely explanation for your objection.
She's a girly girl good, she could show Shilo a thing or two about dressing like a lady.
Obsessing about appearance and dressing like a lady is the last thing a little girl should be worrying about.
Hey PDXmum..the only person obsessing is the shoe designer. Looks like Suri is either at event or a wedding with Mom and Dad not running through the playground. Her parents dressed her and she looks cute so what. If girls want to dress up who are you to judge others to be obsessed about their looks. Very judgmental comment.
Obviously Shiloh (and her parents) are intelligent enough to know that "dressing like a lady" means absolutely nothing. They also seem to understand that putting heels on their 5-year-old is not the best choice for the future health of her feet and back.
At least Shilo will always beat her in sports.
Those shoes are actually quite cute. I doubt she wears them every day and when she grow up, she will be one of few who can even afford manolos. Leave her alone.
Actually, she does wear them every day. That's why this was a news story. She's been wearing them since she was walking, and it's akin to tchild abuse IMO.
Oh please. It's no biggie. If they don't hurt her feet, let her wear them! Lots of girls her age wear "heals". They are NOT that high! Sheesh!
Um..that would be...heels.
As a second grade teacher, I have not see "lots" of girls wear them. Actually I haven't see any, other than in playing dress up.
Truthfully, it's been proven that habitually wearing high heeled shoes will deform feet. If a young child is allowed to wear them and continues to wear them as she grows, she will have painful problems with her feet, legs and back in about 20 years. But, I'm sure she'll be able to afford to keep all the doctors she needs on her payroll.
You're so right, Mrs.M. I am a victim of a lifetime of wearing heels. I tossed 50 pairs of shoes one time! And I'll pay for the rest of my life. Plantar fasciitis is the unbearable result of all those great looking shoes. I can't walk long distances or stand on my feet for long. I can't wear heels, but flats cause excruciating pain. Special orthotics, ugly shoes, cortisone shots in the arch of my foot, and lots of pain. It is insane to allow children to wear heels.
As a child grows wearing them will cause problems. Wearing them every day causes problems. Ask a podiatrist.
She has NO business wearing heEls. Her feet and ankles are still growing, and this can cause serious damage. She needs to be in either sneakers, or flats.
She's going to have deformed feet. Lot's of little girls wear heels for special occasions. Christmas, school pageants, maybe a birthday. Suri always wears heels. I've never seen a picture of her in flats or heaven forbid a pair of trainers.
