While you were working...

Today's news you might've missed:

  • The good news: "Pan Am" isn't canceled. ABC says that the show will carry out its first season and is still being considered for next year. However, with all of the good stuff they've got in the works over there, say some industry observers, the likelihood that the high-flying drama will return is up in the air. [E!]
  • "Big Bang Theory's" Jim Parsons is set to give his regards to Broadway. The Emmy winner has landed the role of Elwood P. Dowd in the revival of "Harvey," which will officially open next June. [Broadway.com]
  • Are we headed for a "Livin' La Vida Loca" cover on "Glee"? Or perhaps it'll be "She Bangs"....Either way, the series is said to be in talks to cast Ricky Martin as the "hottest Spanish teacher ever in the history of Ohio" for a guest spot to begin early next year. [TVLine]
  • Awards season is upon us, ladies and gents. In addition to the Spirit Awards announcing the latest round of nominees, the New York Film Critics Circle has already handed out awards. "The Artist" took best picture; Meryl Streep in "The Iron Lady" for best actress; Jessica Chastain in "Tree of Life," "The Help" and "Take Shelter" for best supporting actress; Brad Pitt in "Moneyball" and "Tree of Life" for best actor; and Albert Brooks in "Drive" for best supporting actor. • Be it with a paper calendar, Google, iPhone, sticky note, or otherwise, here's one to mark down: HBO's "Eastbound & Down" launches its eight-episode third season on February 19 at 10 p.m., followed by Ricky Gervais and Warwick Davis' "Life's Too Short" at 10:30.

Called "Virgin Diaries," the hour-long special focuses on six adults who happen to still be virgins, whether it's "by choice or by chance," the network says in a statement.

The special aims to depict "the truths, anticipations, and very awkward moments that go along with trying to have sex for the very first time," the statement says.
