'Voice's' Adam Levine: I'm not worried about 'Idol,' 'X Factor'

In its first season, "The Voice" actually lived up to its promise of paying more attention to vocal talent than anything else. Those who made it through to the live competition included a 40-something woman rocking the bald look, an "Idol" cast-off and the winner, Javier Colon.

For its second season, mentor Christina Aguilera says they're trying to be even more inclusive.

"The diversity is so extreme," Aguilera told CNN. "I have an opera singer who is really great and will knock your socks off, [and] a dynamite MC. No joke. It's really fun and interesting this year.”

But it looks like some felt the show could've used a little more country. (Like we said, country music has gone mainstream.)

"Last year after the show was over, [I went] back to Nashville, and I get asked this question all the time:'Man you are the country guy, how come you didn’t get more invested in country singers (on the show)?'" says country star Blake Shelton, another celeb mentor for "The Voice." "And I said because honestly, they weren’t good enough. Just because you’re country doesn’t mean I’m going to hit my button and turn around and you are going to be great."

Of course, when "The Voice" returns next year, they'll have to compete with "American Idol" and reinvigorate those who may be singing competition fatigued after "The X Factor." But, says "Voice" mentor Adam Levine of Maroon 5, "those shows are those shows."

"They have their own thing and their own fanbase," he went on. "We don’t really concern ourselves with those shows because we are 'The Voice.' It’s never been about competing with those guys. It’s been more [about] co-existing and making our show the best it can possibly be. I think that speaks for itself as opposed to trying to get into some kind of petty battle. It doesn’t benefit us in any way and doesn’t interest us. I’ve never seen those shows in their entirety.”

"The Voice" will return to NBC on February 5.
