Zooey Deschanel and husband Ben Gibbard splitTwo years after tying the knot, actress/singer Zooey Deschanel and musician Ben Gibbard are going their separate ways. A rep for Gibbard, frontman for the band Death Cab for Cutie, confirmed the split to CNN. An unnamed source tells Us Weekly that the split was amicable and mutual, and wasn't caused by a third party. According to the Los Angeles Times, the pair met through a mutual manager three years ago (Zooey's also in a band of her own: She & Him). The two wed near Seattle in 2009 after Gibbard proposed to Deschanel with a three carat diamond and platinum ring, People magazine reports.
In a recent interview with iVillage, Deschanel opened up about her relationship with Gibbard, reiterating that marriage takes work. "The most surprising thing is that it's not really different," she said in the July, 2011 interview. "You still have to make a commitment and think about that commitment every day. It's not like you get married and then all the work is done for you. You get married and you're still in a relationship and you're still doing your best to make it the best relationship you can...You still have to make the effort and be kind and understanding." Professionally, Deschanel is staying plenty busy: Her Fox show "New Girl" has been a success and was picked up for a full season earlier in the fall, and she just released her Christmas album, "A Very She & Him Christmas." A source tells People that "the intention" at this point "is to move forward with divorce."

So sad to read about. :(. Zo is a breath of fresh air in a smoke-filled Hollywood town. Her music is uplifting and soulful and DCfC is awesome as well. Wish for peace and healing for both of them. PP

I knew about Death Cab for Cutie, heard some of their music and thought it was alright.
I knew about Zooey from her appearance as Trillian in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy movie from a few years ago. Comparing that to New Girl, I'm convinced that she can act. I get what they're doing with New Girl, I think her character is personable, but I don't like the show.
It is a shame that people, most probably in a very tight and lacking privacy world such as the entertainment world is, stress over their careers and how they appear to the public and how short a time they have to get to know another soul that can understand, to a point, what their go go life is like.
What I'm saying is that they tried and that we, not living their lives, have no idea what really happened.
Hopefully they will both find someone that can give them what they seek and need and be there to grow old together with.
It'll be a lot easier for him to eat now, if he doesn't have to keep up with her diet.
Zooey's new series ("New Girl") is well-reviewed by critics and is disarmingly funny. That show along with "2 Broke Girls" on Monday nights are by far the best new comedies on American TV this season. Zoeey's character "Jess" is dorkalicious and honestly very funny. I can't wait to see how this show develops.

For those of you who know Fooey or Zoooey or whatever, you might want to read an article about Oakland as they are trying to make sure you have enough money to buy their CD's or DVDs or whatever it is they do.

"Who the hell are they?" Well people....since you're on the INTERNET, you can look it up in about 10 seconds. Wikipedia is a good basic source if you are completely unsure about where to start.
One has been a famous singer for a long time, the other has been a famous actress for a long time (maybe you saw "Elf" with Will Ferrell) - and has a side-job as a singer in a duo.
Okay, maybe famous is too strong a word.... How about "famous" or " well known in their home towns" instead??

"Want to know why a regular person would be interested in famous folk's affairs".... Celebrity weddings and divorces have always been interesting to people since there have been celebrities. We identify with our favorite entertainers and are somewhat interested in what makes them tick and how their lives are going.
I like Ben and I have always enjoyed Zooey's work in movies and now TV. My guess is that they're super-busy in their professional lives and didn't have time to cultivate their own relationship - and this is the basis for Zooey's comments.

Poor Ed Sr of Dallas Tx. Our dear Ed can barely sleep at night knowing there are still people out there who are not exactly like him; who do things he doesn't do; who feel emotions it makes him uncomfortable to feel; who like things he doesn't like; who read books and watch TV shows and listen to music; who enjoy things he doesn't enjoy; who, in short, are not him.
That is why Ed Sr of Dallas Tx took the time to comment on this article. Not because he only likes news about politics and car crashes and not-hims getting in trouble for being not-him, but because he wants to make sure all of the not-hims who came here to read about not-him things know how stupid they are for being not-him. Because being him is great. He has a great job. He has a great house. He has lots of great things in his great house. He loves to go to his great job so he can buy more great things for his great house. Sometimes he stands on his front porch and shouts "get a life" at his dumb not-him neighbors as they speed away in their dumb not-him car on their way to see a dumb not-him movie or go on a dumb not-him vacation. When they're out of sight, he goes back inside his great house and looks at his paint chip collection.
