Orlando Jones: Palin tweet 'farcical, not funny'Tweets often find stars and the anonymous alike saying, "let me explain...." and actor Orlando Jones is the latest to offer more exposition about a statement he posted Saturday following the death of Moammar Gadhafi. "Libyan Rebels kill Gaddafi, if American liberals want respect they better stop listening to Aretha & kill Sarah Palin(:," he wrote. Jones then responded to a number of Twitter users, including one that asked why the actor "thinks it's funny to call for Sarah Palin to be murdered." Jones replied to the query, "I don't. I think it's funny that you are so upset about my inane tweet."
As the Hollywood Reporter notes, conservative bloggers began to pick up on Jones' remark on Monday, and the actor replied to a Twitter user, "If my tweets are so upsetting to you please do not read them." But by Tuesday, Jones had a little more to say. In response to a tweet that remarked the joke would be funny if quoted in its entire context, the actor disagreed, writing, "[N]ever thought it was that funny. I thought of it as more of a comment on those who call themselves liberal being ineffective." He continued, "Obama gets more death threats than any Pres in US history...sorry too real. Hey, Orlando Jones tweeted something inane about Palin! Get him!...My tweet was farcical not funny or a call to action. 100 bucks 2 the 1st person who can count the # of Palin jokes about killing Democrats."

Any threat towards any politician is wrong, whether it be Prez Obama or Sarah Palin. Orlando Jones is a washed up actor and is only doing for publicity. I too was a Democrat and stopped being one because of this type of hypocrisy aka "do as i say, not what I do". Idiot

The First Amendment right to which you refer is ACTUALLY a negative liberty (and I quote) "Congress shall make no law ... abridging the freedom of speech" * restricting * GOVERNMENT. It does not apply to SOCIETY itself, which must retain the right to respond to speech in any manner it deems appropriate, within the bounds of law, lest * its liberty * be abridged.

@ Really – Is that the standard? Whether someone is "serious"? We never heard the END about Sarah Palin's ad featuring a crosshairs symbol over Gabby Giffords congressional district. Was Sarah Palin "SERIOUS" about targeting Giffords, with a real gun and ammunition? Or was she just using a metaphor * commonly used * in electoral politics? Read the above posts: your loathsome lot is STILL slandering Palin, blaming her for that horrific shooting. Care to explain your selective outrage?

Also, it's funny about how Orlando mentioned his right to free speech, but the libs won't tolerate a conservatives right to free speech. Yes, yes, what he said was stupid and not funny in my opinion even though I don't care for Palin. I think it was a low blow and he knows it and uses the classic "if you don't like it, don't read it" as his defense because he refuses to say he messed up. There is a big difference between what he said and making an actual death threat. So I do agree that freaking out over what he said is pointless.

You're exactly right - we conservatives should be more like liberals, who never feign moral indignation. Political correctness is really a conservative conspiracy, intended to make liberals look like overbearing hypersensitive finger-wagging complainers.
What Mr. Jones has not done is to consider the effect of his "farce" on some of the extremely unstable people out there, who have 'hair-trigger fingers' ready, when the mood hits them, to do the most extreme things. Any reasonably intelligent person should be able to come up with 'farce' or 'funny' without bringing in violence at all...and certainlly not against any well-known individual. FYI, Sarah Palin and her family have received many death threats, and a stalker targeting them was recently arrested. One further note: Sarah Palin is completely, 100% non-violent. You will not find even one instance...NOT EVEN ONE...instance where she has ever, or ever would, promote violence against anyone. Read her books. Watch videos of her unedited speeches and interviews. You'll be greatly surprised.
