It doesn't sound like creator, writer and voice actor Seth MacFarlane would mind if "Family Guy," now in its 10th season, made an exit from primetime programming.
In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, MacFarlane admits that he thinks his animated show could've wrapped up a few seasons back.
"Part of me thinks 'Family Guy' should have already ended," he says. "I think seven seasons is about the right lifespan for a TV series. I talk to fans, and in a way I'm kind of secretly hoping for them to say 'we're done with it.'"
And while there are those who'll say the program's "over the hill," MacFarlane continues, "still the vast majority go pale in the face when I mention the possibility [of it ending]."
But instead of letting "Family Guy" continue on, like another show we could mention, MacFarlane says he could see ending it on TV and putting the Griffin family on the big screen. "Creatively, that would be the way to do it for me. Do a really fantastic final episode while the show is still strong."
MacFarlane is working on a script for a film version of "Family Guy," but between his "Flintstones" reboot and a few other projects he has in the wings, we may have to wait awhile to watch it.
