Seriously, what is it going to take?
Ed O'Neill delivered another Emmy-worthy (and needless to say, MVP worthy) performance on Wednesday night's episode of "Modern Family." It was great that he got recognized with a nomination earlier this year, and also excellent that Ty Burrell won that award, but come on! O'Neill should get his due. Here's hoping for next year.
OK, climbing down off my soapbox now. That was all to say that Jay trying to teach the value of a hard day's work to Manny by selling door to door was one of the strongest Delgado-Pritchett plotlines in a while. Manny's line, "You'll never go broke playing into a rich guy's ego. Write that down," was especially golden.
Plus, when you get Gloria and Cam together you can't miss. Suddenly, Cam discovered he was Marlon Brando reincarnated, screaming "Stella!" (I just wonder when the writers decided that Eric Stonestreet in that undershirt would make for a great "Streetcar" reference).
Then Lucas and Phil had their second episode in a row paired up, and I don't know about you, but I can watch Phil get hit by that basketball forever.
The most pleasant (and timely) surprise of this young season so far was "Arrested Development's" David Cross battling with Claire over adding a stop sign. Just a joy to see him on this show.
The grand finale, with Cam and Mitchell facing off in a very "Odd Couple" manner, didn't disappoint either. Mitchell's freak out at the end, of course, came at the worst possible time, with the house looking like a wreck as the adoption agency came calling. Oops.
