Guns N' Roses announces first U.S. tour in 5 years

Guns N’ Roses just announced today they’ll be doing their first US tour in five years, CNN can confirm.

The legendary hair metal band will perform a two and a half hour show featuring all of their hits from October to New Year’s Eve.

Axl Rose & Co. kick off the US tour on October 28 in Orlando, Florida. Before they hit the U.S., the band will tour Latin America for a few weeks.

GNR spent most of last year on a world tour, playing their hits show 71 times in over 30 countries.

The current incarnation of Guns N’ Roses is: Axl Rose, DJ Ashba (guitar), Dizzy Reed (keyboards), Tommy Stinson (bass), Richard Fortus (guitar), Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal (guitar), Chris Pitman (keyboards) and Frank Ferrer (drums).

The current schedule is as follows:

October 28 - Orlando, Florida at the Amway Center Arena

October 29 - Miami, Florida at the American Airlines Arena

October 31 -  Greenville, South Carolina at the Bi-Lo Center Arena

November 2 - Atlanta, Georgia at the Phillips Arena

November 5 - Dallas, Texas at the Gexa Energy Pavillion

November 12 - Kansas City, Missouri at the Sprint Center Arena

November 13 - Minneapolis, Minnesota at the Target Center Arena

I believe that you just can do with some p.c. to force the message home a little bit, however instead of that, this is magnificent blog. A great read. I will certainly be back.

Saw them in Kansas city a week ago. I was very skeptical about going, but went because I was bored out of my mind in Kansas. Anyway, the show was GREAT!! They played all the old hits from AFD and Illusions. Axl will always be Axl and yep, he can be a jerk, but the dude can sing and it was well worth the money. They played for 2:45. I saw them twenty years ago and enjoyed the show much more this time around.

Took my 8yr old daughter to the GNR Houston Texas show and it was amazing. If you are bad mouthing them, maybe you should actually go see the show and go in with an open mind. And for the people complaining about kids, get over it because they have the right to listen to good music as well. Why are you going to just say only people from our time were allowed to enjoy great music? That is just like saying, " We lived Rock in the 80s, and we will die with it." come on its really uncool to hate on parents who actually take the time to spend with a child and allow them to choose what songs or bands they want. Cause honestly, I would much rather take her to GNR than waist my money on Jonas Brothers or any kid group today. And I was very honored to have my little girl taken on stage with DJ Ashba, that was a joy to watch. So good or bad, you never know what to expect at a GNR concert. I can say it is a show you do not want to miss. They give you more than you pay for. dont hate on people, have fun, love the music and stop reading what the media makes up. What happen in the 80s does not mean it will happen now. and if it does, it is because people want to cause drama and fights. Even I was getting some old hag yelling she was going to bash my kid into the gate, and my kid is 8yrs old, and not one person standing near me allowed her with in a foot of my little girl. So for every bad apple, you will have 20 or more amazing people who love the music. And don't hate because the people in the front waited hours just to get those spots, just be cool with it and give them props for actually doing that.but to push and shove because you came in after the opening act, that is just uncool and because you are 50 or older does not mean you have earned your place. if Axl did not want your old booty back then, he ain't gonna want you now. hahaha And the ladies tossing crusty panties, that is so gross. At least if you do, make sure they are new and not the panites you were wearing all day, no one wants that crap. haha
Again, go see this show, stop bashing on Ashba because he is a true talent and gets everyone involved in the fun. And just enjoy it. Peace and Love. B'

Those who make the negative coments are not fans, so no one gives a crap what you think. AXL is what makes GNR the best hard rock band ever. Of course in a perfect world the original lineup would be together, there's no denying SLASH is the one of the best guitarists ever. But you haters make no sense when you diss the current lineup, and complaints about the 11PM start times are ridiculous as GNR has been doing late shows forever. IT's rock n roll people, be prepared to stay out late!!!

I saw the last tour in Minneapolis. I read about the late starts beforehand, so I wasn't terribly surprised when they took the stage at 11:45pm. It was a great show! Was it as good as the original lineup in their hayday? No, it was not, but that doesn't mean it wasn't still great...

I saw the last tour in Cleveland. Axl was over two hours late. He came on stage, fired his monitor engineer, and then fired the opening act, Eagles of Death Metal. It was worth every penny to see his antics. Without Buckethead and Robin Finck, I have no interest in seeing a non-original lineup, anymore.

All you Slash lovers need to get a clue. His isn't really that great of a guitar player and anyone who has been a fan of GnR since the early days knows that the core of GnR has always been Axl and Izzy. Just because Slash came up with the intro to Sweet Child O Mine it doesn't make him a god. Izzy may have left GnR but he's staying true to his musica roots and still recording good music while Slash is recording songs with Fergie, playing the Super Bowl with the Black Eyed Peas and appearing on the Charlie Sheen roast. Give me a break. Slash is nothing more than a sell out and a sloppy guitar player. DJ Ashba and Bumblefoot > Slash.

How old is the author of this article? Calling GNR a 'legendary hair metal band' is silly. They were the biggest band in the world for a few years in the late 80's and early 90's. It's sort of like calling U2 a 'famous euro punk ensemble'.

Axl, Slash, Duff, Izzy, Adler (assuming he's coherent these days). That's the lineup I'd pay to see...not The Axl Rose Project. And hopefully Axl has lost the dreadlocks. "Hair metal" is a derogatory term...it's melodic hard rock...and it blows away ANYTHING that's been on the Billboard Top 10 for the past 20 years. Hopefully the original lineup will somehow get together again...Duff joined Axl on stage a few months ago...it all boils down to the Axl-Slash feud.

I don't know how you all are forming these opinions, but a band is ostensibly the lead singer. Any decent guitarist, bassist and drummer can play the correct notes in the correct sequence, but only the lead singer can make the song sound like it should. Would you rather see Steve Perry with a backing band singing Journey songs, or the rest of the original Journey members playing them with a different lead singer? If Axl Rose is singing all the Guns N Roses tunes with an apt backing band, it's going to sound like Guns N Roses, period. I don't want to see David Lee Roth and Van Halen singing "Why Can't This Be Love?" any more than I want to see Sammy Hagar and Van Halen singing "Jump". Go to the Guns N Roses concert and close your eyes. You won't be able to tell the difference.

I was heartbroken when Ritchie Blackmore quit Deep Purple. So much so, that I didn't listen for over a decade. Than, accidentally I did. I was floored by the solo guitarist Steve Morse, who frankly, better than Ritchie ever was.

I too was disappointed by Blackmore's departure from DP, but it did open up the chance for Tommy Bolin to make his splash. But you are correct, Steve Morse is twice the player Blackmore is. Check out his work with the Dixie Dregs, phenominal.

When I went to see the Axl Rose, Guns n Roses, 5 years ago it was a total waste of my money. At Madison Square Garden Axl and crew were supposed to start around 8:45 pm but they didn't get on stage until 11:10, almost 2 and a half hours late!

Having to catch the train back to NJ at 11:34 I only got to hear 4 songs. They used to be one of my favorite bands but after that crappy show I will never, ever go to see them again. No excuse for being late was given and it was a total waste of $100.00.

Because that's what they do. That's how they're managed. That's what they're known for, and they go out of their way to do it. Go out of their way to crap on the fans? Yes! This is simple marketing. They understand that in rock n roll, controversy sells and if they have to sellout their fans to be 'controversial', so be it. Anyone who thinks this will not continue is misinformed. They already KNOW it will continue. "Guns n Roses" and whoever's in charge of them (whether Axl, their manager or somebody else) will ensure that it does. So sad. They'll purposely be late/absent, fabricate some outlandish story for it and the mythology will continue to grow. I hate entertainers like that; somewhere along the way they missed the point and sold their soul. Ugh.

I'll leave it. There are much better bands out there. I do like one or two of their songs though. One is November Rain.

after that new years appearance a while back w bucket head (whatever that was) and Axl in a 70's sopranos plastic sweat suit (looks like he's balding as well) that's really not what I would want to see...barf ...great music, but let the past die already

I'll wager a years salary they don't finish the tour and that prima donna Axl Rose throws another hissy fit. Who cares anyway? The band always sucked and Axl Rose couldn't sing his way out of a paper bag. Horrible band....horrible singer....

Lindsey,GN'R is not hair metal, They are Hard Rock/Heavy Metal band.

The term Hair Metal is a insult to everyone who grew up in the 80's, Like me. I hate that term. Bands like GNR,Motley Crue,Poison Def Leppard, Skid Row, BonJovi, etc... Are Glam metal or 80's Metal, Not Hair Metal.

You & everyone else who calls GNr and all the other metal bands from the 80's. Need to learn your music.

    • Andy

      That's right!!!

Inthe 80's, people actually had to have talent to make it. Look at the original GNR, or any number of acts from that time. They could actually play their instruments, and could actually sing. Now if you can talk, you can call yourself a hippity-hoppity act and make money. A best selling album today wouldn't have even made the charts back then, the bands were so popular that people bought their stuff like crazy. GNR were about the last big act, and we'll never see a return to how it used to be.

      @Jonathan

I am one that grew up with these bands. GnR, Poison, Cinderella, Skid Row, Ratt...all outstanding groups that were not only great at recording, but could bring down the house live as well. With that said, I am not sure why you (and apparently many others) feel that "Hair Metal" or "Hair Bands" is such a derogatory label. C'mon man! You were there... These guys must have had stock in Aqua Net. The hair was HUGE back then. It was an easy thing to associate with the bands of the time.

In my honest opinion, I would take more offense at "Glam Metal". That one always bothered me.

Seen his show in Sturgis SD. 1 yrs ago. Alice n Chains opened and they were flawless. The venue was packed. Waited over two hours for Axel to get on stage. Then I Turned around Half of the people waiting for the show left. At every guitar solo or break in a song Axel would run off stage change his costum then run back, he was winded and couldn sing after all the running. I walked out of the show. I "was" an Axel fan since the start...

Keep things in perspective people... Slash playing with that other guy was ok but jot GnR like back in the day and Axl on stage with another guitar play will be missing something but in all it will be a good show and I would pay to see it b4 I would pay to see Slash with another singer..... Just the way it goes.. The quarterback is the quarterback. End of story and you know it. Don't be so negative just shut up and go yell at your crying lil brats!

In agreement with the majority on here calling for the reconciliation of Axl and Slash. Their talent combo with the VOICE and GUITARIST blending together are as good as it gets. With the fading of rock-n-roll as far as being the forefront genre in the lime light is getting old. Tired of watching county genre trying to sing country, but playing the rock-n-roll sound with their music. All it would take is a Axl and Slash with the rest of the band to create a few hits, take over the air waves to take ROCK-N-ROLL back through the Stratosphere! If you two need a mediator, holler! Just work it out, life is short, and you are robbing us of your blessed talent combo!
