this is an excelllent article. Thank you very much
I have learn some just right stuff here. Certainly value bookmarking for revisiting. I surprise how much effort you place to make this sort of magnificent informative website.
Its like you learn my mind! You appear to understand a lot approximately this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I believe that you just can do with some p.c. to force the message home a little bit, however instead of that, this is magnificent blog. A great read. I will certainly be back.
I've been exploring for a bit for any high-quality articles or blog posts on this sort of space . Exploring in Yahoo I eventually stumbled upon this web site. Reading this info So i'm happy to convey that I've an incredibly just right uncanny feeling I found out exactly what I needed. I such a lot certainly will make sure to don?t overlook this website and provides it a glance regularly.
Saw them in Kansas city a week ago. I was very skeptical about going, but went because I was bored out of my mind in Kansas. Anyway, the show was GREAT!! They played all the old hits from AFD and Illusions. Axl will always be Axl and yep, he can be a jerk, but the dude can sing and it was well worth the money. They played for 2:45. I saw them twenty years ago and enjoyed the show much more this time around.
Took my 8yr old daughter to the GNR Houston Texas show and it was amazing. If you are bad mouthing them, maybe you should actually go see the show and go in with an open mind. And for the people complaining about kids, get over it because they have the right to listen to good music as well. Why are you going to just say only people from our time were allowed to enjoy great music? That is just like saying, " We lived Rock in the 80s, and we will die with it." come on its really uncool to hate on parents who actually take the time to spend with a child and allow them to choose what songs or bands they want. Cause honestly, I would much rather take her to GNR than waist my money on Jonas Brothers or any kid group today. And I was very honored to have my little girl taken on stage with DJ Ashba, that was a joy to watch. So good or bad, you never know what to expect at a GNR concert. I can say it is a show you do not want to miss. They give you more than you pay for. dont hate on people, have fun, love the music and stop reading what the media makes up. What happen in the 80s does not mean it will happen now. and if it does, it is because people want to cause drama and fights. Even I was getting some old hag yelling she was going to bash my kid into the gate, and my kid is 8yrs old, and not one person standing near me allowed her with in a foot of my little girl. So for every bad apple, you will have 20 or more amazing people who love the music. And don't hate because the people in the front waited hours just to get those spots, just be cool with it and give them props for actually doing that.but to push and shove because you came in after the opening act, that is just uncool and because you are 50 or older does not mean you have earned your place. if Axl did not want your old booty back then, he ain't gonna want you now. hahaha And the ladies tossing crusty panties, that is so gross. At least if you do, make sure they are new and not the panites you were wearing all day, no one wants that crap. haha
Again, go see this show, stop bashing on Ashba because he is a true talent and gets everyone involved in the fun. And just enjoy it. Peace and Love. B'
I saw slash a while back and he kicked ass ! I have no intrest in seein guns and roses without him ! but would love it if they were ever to do the original line up !!
im 17 and i love gnr. i know every song! i mean every song of theirs! Can't wait to see them in Chicago on the 15th
Guns & Bozos. Used to love them...but now who cares.
Do they have any fans left (alive)?
well im 17. and pretty sure im alive
Why aren't they coming to St. Louis , Ha
I wonder if the degrade Axle @#$!head Rose has learned how to behave himself, or if THAT will be the real show. What a waste of time.
Replace Axl with Paul Westerberg and it might be a band worth seeing.
Those who make the negative coments are not fans, so no one gives a crap what you think. AXL is what makes GNR the best hard rock band ever. Of course in a perfect world the original lineup would be together, there's no denying SLASH is the one of the best guitarists ever. But you haters make no sense when you diss the current lineup, and complaints about the 11PM start times are ridiculous as GNR has been doing late shows forever. IT's rock n roll people, be prepared to stay out late!!!
I saw the last tour in Minneapolis. I read about the late starts beforehand, so I wasn't terribly surprised when they took the stage at 11:45pm. It was a great show! Was it as good as the original lineup in their hayday? No, it was not, but that doesn't mean it wasn't still great...
I saw the last tour in Cleveland. Axl was over two hours late. He came on stage, fired his monitor engineer, and then fired the opening act, Eagles of Death Metal. It was worth every penny to see his antics. Without Buckethead and Robin Finck, I have no interest in seeing a non-original lineup, anymore.
Anyone who pays for a ticket to see this will loose their money or be very disappointed.. does anyone remember the multiple times mr rose walked off stage or ... didnt show up.... no slash...cmon....enjoy standing in an empty concert hall... or seeing a 45 min performance...this will be short lived tour
Screw Gun's and Hoses!!! Worst band ever. Slash rules though...
All you Slash lovers need to get a clue. His isn't really that great of a guitar player and anyone who has been a fan of GnR since the early days knows that the core of GnR has always been Axl and Izzy. Just because Slash came up with the intro to Sweet Child O Mine it doesn't make him a god. Izzy may have left GnR but he's staying true to his musica roots and still recording good music while Slash is recording songs with Fergie, playing the Super Bowl with the Black Eyed Peas and appearing on the Charlie Sheen roast. Give me a break. Slash is nothing more than a sell out and a sloppy guitar player. DJ Ashba and Bumblefoot > Slash.
No Slash, no GnR. Sorry.
they should be called "Hired Guns n Rose"
You F-ers will never know music like I used to make. Who is this Axl Grease you are all referring to? I SING THE SONGS GDI
How old is the author of this article? Calling GNR a 'legendary hair metal band' is silly. They were the biggest band in the world for a few years in the late 80's and early 90's. It's sort of like calling U2 a 'famous euro punk ensemble'.
I know!!!! HAIR BAND! GnR would beat the s@i$ out of you if they heard that!! Articular writer get your history right: hair bands where Poison, Motley Crue, Ratt NOT GNR!
If it werent for studio processing magic this numbnut wouldnt EVER sound even close to marketable.
Drop dead Axl – nobody cares anymore. And you're a *ock sucker anyway
Go see a 65 year old toothless man in spandex
and hair plugs.
Yikes! I don't see one positive comment on here...makes one wonder what ticket sales are going to look like.
G&R was never a hair band. Also, I am not sure they are even metal. They were just butt kicking hard rock.
One word: Pass
no slash, no GNR
I would never go to see this clown again , went to see him play earlier in the year he was 1and a half hours late then he left the stage after 20 mins because some one hit him with a plastic bottle . what a p***k.
I am sooooooooooo done with G&R it's not even funny.......... Axle sucks! I'd rather go see the wiggles then his crappy band... put slash on tour... Axle,,,,Please you stink...........
I would rather GnR do an REM and go the way of the DoDo.
Hey Saul Hudson... GnR sucks. That's all there is to it. Their music sucked before and it still sucks now. They should call it the 'Drained Pool' tour since Axl can no longer afford to clean pools for a living. Axl is a HAS BEEN!
I saw them in Paris last year and they were BAD. They were late almost 2 hours late, Axl was totally off key and looked like an old man surrounded by a bunch of bouncy teenagers prancing around the stage. Needless to say it was not worth the ticket price and was the last time I'll part with any more of my money to support this has-been and his prima-donna ways.
It's a tour for the Axl Rose Band. Unless it includes Stradlin, McKagen, Slash and Adler/Sorum, it should not be called Guns 'N Roses.
DIAF AXL YOU POS LITTLE PRIMADONNA
I actually think that in 1993 this would have been news.
Remember when Axl could have saved the day when James Hetfield of Metallica was burned to a crisp opening for G n R? Instead he did 3 songs and walked off the stage causing a huge riot. Axl is a loser.
Isn't that Kid Rock?
LOL!!!!! That made my morning.
Last I checked Axl made the name to the band.
Axl, Slash, Duff, Izzy, Adler (assuming he's coherent these days). That's the lineup I'd pay to see...not The Axl Rose Project. And hopefully Axl has lost the dreadlocks. "Hair metal" is a derogatory term...it's melodic hard rock...and it blows away ANYTHING that's been on the Billboard Top 10 for the past 20 years. Hopefully the original lineup will somehow get together again...Duff joined Axl on stage a few months ago...it all boils down to the Axl-Slash feud.
This is the Axl Rose solo band. Get the original lineup together already, that's what everyone want's.
He needs to retire the Guns 'n Roses name and just start his own band. Let it go Axl.
Why not call it a REPLACEMENTS tour – they've got one of THOSE too.
Oh boy I hope he does all the songs from Chinese Democracy!!
Slash sucks yeah he has done alot I just love how Axl put these guys on the map and made them famous Axl is gnr it's the singer that makes the band. How good did other bands do with a new singer my point exactly..
Well, props for the nice try, but its still going to fail. Sorry
By the way, Van Halen prospered quite well with Hagar for a few years.
....................WITHOUT SLASH,IZZY AND DUFF............FORGET GNR,....IF VAN HALEN CAN GET TOGETHER SO CAN THEY......
Hair metal band? Are you a freakin idiot? Oh my god what a stupid moronic statement.
I wonder how many concerts axl will cancel at the last second again.
Get over it people, and get out of the past. There are new members (all very talented if you would just listen to them or check out their resumes) and they put on a hell of a show.
JUDAS PRIEST IS HAVING THEIR FAREWLL TOUR THIS YEAR
A MUCH BETTER BAND
GnR should tour for their retirement home.
GnR is hard rock not hair metal. Who do u think they are Ratt?
They were not call "Lines and Noses" for nothing. Probably missed all those concert dates and were late to shows because of that evil meth!!!
These clowns are too far gone to ever come back. Axl blew it big time and without Slash, you ain't nothing but another has been rock and roller. Give us a break already, your time has passed and NOBIDY CARES ANYMORE!!!
I would rather spend my hard earned money and go see ABDULLAH THE BUTCHER wrestle then to go see this loser with some new guys milking the G & R name. You are right my friend, nobidy cares!!!!!
And the world let out a collective..."so what..."
I don't know how you all are forming these opinions, but a band is ostensibly the lead singer. Any decent guitarist, bassist and drummer can play the correct notes in the correct sequence, but only the lead singer can make the song sound like it should. Would you rather see Steve Perry with a backing band singing Journey songs, or the rest of the original Journey members playing them with a different lead singer? If Axl Rose is singing all the Guns N Roses tunes with an apt backing band, it's going to sound like Guns N Roses, period. I don't want to see David Lee Roth and Van Halen singing "Why Can't This Be Love?" any more than I want to see Sammy Hagar and Van Halen singing "Jump". Go to the Guns N Roses concert and close your eyes. You won't be able to tell the difference.
My man...Music is most certainly not just about playing the correct notes in the correct sequence.
Journey is probably a bad example since they are rockin it with their new Phillipino singer. Perry can't sing that stuff any more, he wrecked his throat.
This tour will flop and they will cancel dates....guaranteed
I am from the old fart generation, but I follow and love rock up to date. I noticed many of you miss Slash from this setup.
I was heartbroken when Ritchie Blackmore quit Deep Purple. So much so, that I didn't listen for over a decade. Than, accidentally I did. I was floored by the solo guitarist Steve Morse, who frankly, better than Ritchie ever was.
I too was disappointed by Blackmore's departure from DP, but it did open up the chance for Tommy Bolin to make his splash. But you are correct, Steve Morse is twice the player Blackmore is. Check out his work with the Dixie Dregs, phenominal.
BTW, I predict this GNR tour will self destruct.
I must say, I saw them two nights ago and it was amazing. DJ Ashba is, and I really really hate to say this, but DJ Ashba is as good if not better then Slash. he was really into the crowd and made the concert that much better. great night.
This is not guns n' roses. Might as well call it "Axl Rose and the bootstrap lickers"
GNR? I thought they were now The Axl Rose Experience.
These dudes were over-rated, just like Metallica.
Sure, their 1987 album and the "Use Your Illusion" albums were good, but still...there were alot of better 80's metal bands then Guns N Roses.
Sorry but I got ripped off once by this jerk, never again. They were late getting on stage. Stayed for about 25 minutes of what sounded like electric sludge crossed with cursing and then Rose stormed off. Good luck to anyone willing to go.
What no St. Louis date? ; )
LOL, good one!!
The advent of the camera phone might have been a huge factor in how long it took Chinese Democracy album to come out... Axl just couldn't stand the thought of all those people FILMING the show!
That's a shame......
Welcome to the Jungle !!
HAIR METAL????? Are you kidding calling them a hair metal band?? They aren't, and were never, Poison. They wre a hard rock band. Period.
That said, this IS NOT GUNS-N-ROSES!! If It doesn't include Slash, it's Axl Rose and his side band. Period.
When I went to see the Axl Rose, Guns n Roses, 5 years ago it was a total waste of my money. At Madison Square Garden Axl and crew were supposed to start around 8:45 pm but they didn't get on stage until 11:10, almost 2 and a half hours late!
Having to catch the train back to NJ at 11:34 I only got to hear 4 songs. They used to be one of my favorite bands but after that crappy show I will never, ever go to see them again. No excuse for being late was given and it was a total waste of $100.00.
Go at your own risk, they may not even make the stage at your show.
I know how you feel Jessica....I had tickets to a show that they cancelled in the early 90s because Axel was being a jerk. I did like them until that happened, I still like some of their songs but I wouldn't waste my money trying to go see them in concert again. On a lighter note I did enjoy hearing about Tommy Hilfiger kicking Axels a$$.....LOL. I guess long hair and a heroin habit don't make you a bad a$$.....:D
Just how many of these gigs will start on time? How many will be 45 minutes long? How many will be rescheduled?
Rose has always crapped on his fans, even 25 years ago.
Because that's what they do. That's how they're managed. That's what they're known for, and they go out of their way to do it. Go out of their way to crap on the fans? Yes! This is simple marketing. They understand that in rock n roll, controversy sells and if they have to sellout their fans to be 'controversial', so be it. Anyone who thinks this will not continue is misinformed. They already KNOW it will continue. "Guns n Roses" and whoever's in charge of them (whether Axl, their manager or somebody else) will ensure that it does. So sad. They'll purposely be late/absent, fabricate some outlandish story for it and the mythology will continue to grow. I hate entertainers like that; somewhere along the way they missed the point and sold their soul. Ugh.
GN'R is Axl, Slash, Duff, Izzy, Matt or Steven, & Gilby...To call this Guns & Roses is a travesty. It will die a horrible death.
Without Slash you're just another band over at the Indian casino.
Without Buckethead, this band is bland!!!
These guys are old, but luckily for them, bands that have come before them, like the Stones, have perfected hiding their Depends undergarments under their tight leather pants, so on-stage bowel movements, which are sure to occur, will have no effect on the audience.
BEST COMMENT EVER!!! ONLY THING WAS, I PEED MYSELF, NOT ONCE, BUT TWICE, BECAUSE I READ IT A 2ND TIME.
obviously a moron like yourself has never seen the stones.
I'll leave it. There are much better bands out there. I do like one or two of their songs though. One is November Rain.
after that new years appearance a while back w bucket head (whatever that was) and Axl in a 70's sopranos plastic sweat suit (looks like he's balding as well) that's really not what I would want to see...barf ...great music, but let the past die already
I'll wager a years salary they don't finish the tour and that prima donna Axl Rose throws another hissy fit. Who cares anyway? The band always sucked and Axl Rose couldn't sing his way out of a paper bag. Horrible band....horrible singer....
What were you listening to in the 90s? obviously not GNR- they rocked!
Thanks, but i don't need $500 that bad.
THE 90'S WERE PEARL JAM , NIRVANA, STP, ALICE IN CHAINS ,SOUNDGARDEN. ONLY WHITE TRASH LOSERS WERE LISTENING TO GNR.
You KNOW IM GAY!
Lindsey,GN'R is not hair metal, They are Hard Rock/Heavy Metal band.
The term Hair Metal is a insult to everyone who grew up in the 80's, Like me. I hate that term. Bands like GNR,Motley Crue,Poison Def Leppard, Skid Row, BonJovi, etc... Are Glam metal or 80's Metal, Not Hair Metal.
You & everyone else who calls GNr and all the other metal bands from the 80's. Need to learn your music.
You and them are just mad because Hair Metal insinuates that y'all still have hair.
Guns 'N Roses is the best hair metal band ever! Suck it, Johnathan.
Thats right! (from an 80's baby)
SORRY BUT JONATHON IS RIGHT. ANYONE WHO GREW UP IN THE 80S KNOWS GUNS& ROSES ARE A SERIOUS HARD ROCK BAND.
Hard rock or whatever you call it, it all sucks. No point in learning what to call crap, because that's all it will ever be.
Inthe 80's, people actually had to have talent to make it. Look at the original GNR, or any number of acts from that time. They could actually play their instruments, and could actually sing. Now if you can talk, you can call yourself a hippity-hoppity act and make money. A best selling album today wouldn't have even made the charts back then, the bands were so popular that people bought their stuff like crazy. GNR were about the last big act, and we'll never see a return to how it used to be.
I am one that grew up with these bands. GnR, Poison, Cinderella, Skid Row, Ratt...all outstanding groups that were not only great at recording, but could bring down the house live as well. With that said, I am not sure why you (and apparently many others) feel that "Hair Metal" or "Hair Bands" is such a derogatory label. C'mon man! You were there... These guys must have had stock in Aqua Net. The hair was HUGE back then. It was an easy thing to associate with the bands of the time.
In my honest opinion, I would take more offense at "Glam Metal". That one always bothered me.
NOT ONLY ARE THE BANDS YOU NAME HAIR BANDS , THEY ARE CHICK HAIR BANDS.
Tony Orlando And Dawn did a much better version of Sweet Child of Mine.
Yeah ole Tony Orlando was lucky to have Dawn as his wife until he found out she had a big ole weiner between her legs and then off course came the divorce.
you must be a traditional ho Fn mo
Of course that was before he started up with all this rock roll nonesense.
Years ago me and a friend saw him perform at the old Apollo Theater in downtown Harlem. He was masterful. Hi duet with Ella FItzgerald brought the crowd to tears. It was a night I will long remember.
Was Louie Armstrong on the horn?
When I get my horn Im gonna let the bytches blow on it.
Yeah man I dig it that was the night Miles Davis sat in right
Lets just listen to Use Your Illusion I and II and forget about AXLs new mess. He must be needing some money.
I prefer Tony Wonder's Use Your Allusion.
I have to agree with sweet Jessica. Also with the post immediatly above mine.
This isnt GNR. This is the Axl Rose band. BOOOOOO!! This tour will suck and implode.
I agree. It's not GNR. Especially without Slash, but Axl won't let go of his aged old grudge to even reunite with him.
May wanna reconsider that career change to tour manager you were considering. Last tour with Axl only and new band sold quite well. Sold out most cities. So no, it won't fail.
I bet against them finishing the tour, and I hope anyone who buys a ticket for the New Year's Eve show has a plan B.
After they were 2.5 hours late the last time I saw them at MSG I wouldn't make any New Years plans with those fools.
If they don't show up I plan on banging your drunk sister. Happy New Year!
"Welcome to the Hair Club"
The only GN'R people want to hear is the old stuff with the original band. Axl is the only orig member going on this tour? It will suck, if it ever happens to begin with.
This really should be called an Axl Rose solo tour. And considering the number of shows and tours cancelled by this lunatic, I'd be VERY skeptical of purchasing a ticket.
Saw them 5 yrs ago and they Rocked! Until 1:30 AM! Guitarist from Faith No More was awesome. Nobody sings them like Axl. U snooze, u lose. We were shocked, one of the best concerts in years!
@JE is right, have seen them 3 times with this line-up and it is a brilliant show. you take a stand at your own peril. also dizzy reed is an original member of the band, has played keys since the 80's, he's just one of the featured five
sorry *not one of the featured five
Where the f@#$% is Slash?
A couple of days ago, I saw him standing behind Charlie Sheen cranking a modified lead to Train Kept A-Rollin' on Comedy Central. He's currently in pre-production for his second solo album. Why do you ask?
I could care less about seeing G&R without Slash! He IS Guns & Roses!!!!
II'd rather just listen to their 8 tracks.
Ditto on Slash missing. They should just be called Roses without him..
Seen his show in Sturgis SD. 1 yrs ago. Alice n Chains opened and they were flawless. The venue was packed. Waited over two hours for Axel to get on stage. Then I Turned around Half of the people waiting for the show left. At every guitar solo or break in a song Axel would run off stage change his costum then run back, he was winded and couldn sing after all the running. I walked out of the show. I "was" an Axel fan since the start...
Keep things in perspective people... Slash playing with that other guy was ok but jot GnR like back in the day and Axl on stage with another guitar play will be missing something but in all it will be a good show and I would pay to see it b4 I would pay to see Slash with another singer..... Just the way it goes.. The quarterback is the quarterback. End of story and you know it. Don't be so negative just shut up and go yell at your crying lil brats!
In agreement with the majority on here calling for the reconciliation of Axl and Slash. Their talent combo with the VOICE and GUITARIST blending together are as good as it gets. With the fading of rock-n-roll as far as being the forefront genre in the lime light is getting old. Tired of watching county genre trying to sing country, but playing the rock-n-roll sound with their music. All it would take is a Axl and Slash with the rest of the band to create a few hits, take over the air waves to take ROCK-N-ROLL back through the Stratosphere! If you two need a mediator, holler! Just work it out, life is short, and you are robbing us of your blessed talent combo!
