Sofia Vergara: I look like a transsexualA lot of us out in TV watching land have a huge crush on "Modern Family's" Sofia Vergara, but when it comes to who the actress herself has a jones for it's none other than Ms. Berry. "I have many [girl crushes], but I love Halle Berry," Vergara tells the Advocate. "She's perfection. Every time I see her, I want to give her a standing ovation because she's so flawless." And while we don't doubt there are those who'd say the same about her, the actress says her physique actually helped her tackle a role as a transsexual for a film.
"I did a movie called 'Grilled' with Ray Romano and Kevin James that went straight to video. I played a transsexual, a guy who had gone all the way with the operation to become a woman. I had a great time playing that character," Vergara recalls. She adds that it wasn't even a challenge, saying, "I look like a transsexual, anyway." "I'm a woman, but I'm super-exaggerated with my boobs, my ass, my make-up and my accent. When I get ready for an event, I always look at myself in the mirror and say, 'I look like a transvestite!' I love it." The other thing she loves is how her Emmy winning comedy "Modern Family" is helping to change perceptions, all while making people laugh. "Many gay friends have told me how hard it was for them to be open in the Latin community. Nothing's going to change from one day to the other, so it's a matter of doing things little by little," Vergara says. "That's why I love the gay couple [played by Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet] in 'Modern Family.' People always tell me, 'We've never seen a normal, loving gay couple before!' They think gay people are just running around naked, partying in nightclubs. So it's good...especially for those who aren't exposed to a lot of gays like we are in the big cities, to see gay people portrayed in a beautiful way." As for her own fan club, Vergara says she's "always had plenty of gay fans, even back in Colombia, probably because I'm voluptuous and a little over-the-top. Gay men always tell me how fabulous I am. I think they want to be [my 'Modern Family' character] Gloria."

Colombian women definitely over do it when it comes to plastic surgery and many tourists go to Colombia for surgery..... but hate to break it to some of you Sofia Vergara is all natural.....she has not had any surgery. Also she exaggerates her accent on the show, it is not that harsh or extreme when in person. People hate others based on looks and cannot accept others' success. She is actually very smart and apparently a great mother to her 18 (?) year old son.
Colombian women over do it with plastic surgery? I think you have them confused with California women!

She's terrific – especially since she can laugh at herself! Alot of beautiful women are very insecure and have no sense of humor. And I love her accent. Her english is fine – people used to say Marlon Brando mumbled. He never did, he just spoke in a normal voice instead of projecting and felt the audio techs needed to pick it up. So she has an accent, most people speaking a foreign language do. Love the ad where she tears the jacket off the guy and bends over backward to retrieve the smartphone. She makes the whole thing fun and it sells. Good for her.
