Pauly D outraged at the Hollywood Walk of Fame

If we thought reality stars were overtaking Hollywood, think again!

“Jersey Shore” cast member DJ Pauly D is outraged over being banned from the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Last week the people behind the landmark posted on their Facebook pages that they refuse to give reality stars a star on Hollywood Boulevard.

Over the weekend, TMZ caught up with Pauly D while he was in Los Angeles and asked him about the ban from the famous landmark and he says he’s not happy that he and his other “Jersey Shore” buddies are ineligible.

He tells TMZ that he's, “really upset. That’s something I always wanted. I’m really upset about that. They gotta change that.”

Do you agree with Pauly D that reality stars should be eligible to get a spot on the Hollywood Walk of Fame? Or do you think the Walk of Fame should be reserved for real Hollywood stars? Post below! Plus, tonight another “Jersey Shore” great debate: Did the fight between Ronnie and “The Situation” live up to the hype?

Join us tonight at 11pm ET/PT on HLN!

He wants a star!? okay, he can if he does something. Why should he get a star for partying, drinking, sleeping around, GTLn', anybody can do that, they just have cameras with them. Some reality tv stars can have stars only if they earn them by actually becoming star worthy, but Jersey Shore cast, not even close.

I agree....the star's on the walk of fame are HUGE names, that have won Oscar's, Tony's and starred in historic films. What gives Pauly D to feel that he derves to be in that company. It's reserved for TRUE HOLLYWOOD ROYALTY!!!
Do something big & meaningful, Pauly D, perhaps then you'll be worthy!

Ok – they want stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. MOST people DON'T want them to have stars there. Here's a compromise. Section off a piece of the walkway and instead of regular stars, give them stars with pictures of cameras in them. They are like Paris Hilton and other "celebutants" who are only famous basically for being famous. Give them the kind of stars they deserve. Stars that are basically just there on the sidewalk because they are stars.

I was VERY let down by the fight between Ronnie the cry baby & the Snitchuation.
I've been waiting for the past 3 seasons to see the Snitch get his ass beat.
Finally the time comes & MTV hypes it up like crazy only to find out that Ronnie didn't even do anything and Snitch knocked him self out like only a genious like him could do.

As far as the Hollywood Walk of Fame goes, these people are not actors, they are reality TV stars.
I love watching the JS because it is entertaining, but thhese people are not talented actors.
Imagine DiNeiro & Paccino having their star next to Snookie...totally disrespectful. LOL

There are no "stars" on reality shows, they are merely "participants". It's a form of entertainment (yes, there are some who find it entertaining rather than revolting) that the television producers love because it's so cheap to produce. The fact that some audience members get so caught up in the show that they consider the participants stars is proof that you can fool some of the people some of the time.......

NONE of the reality stars should be eligible. That was created for real talent, real film and TV stars. These fools on reality are just that, fools who got lucky, got there 15 mins of fame and made lots of money. FU Pauly D, you and the rest of th trash on that show can't earn your place on the walk of fame. Good decision to ban them all!

Those on the Walk of Fame have worked for their place there. They weren't just followed around through their regular lives by cameras, and not expected to exhibit any talent. They didn't go to work and take a nap. They didn't party their way through their project. The only award reality stars should be eligible for is Best Train Wreck.

The 'Walk of Fame' is for the great actors and performers of our time and to allow dick-weeds in this garden of talent would diminish the entire meaning..

Perhaps they could install there stars in front of a urinal in the mens room somewhere where we can dribble on them as we 'shake it off'. Since that is what their so called talent is all about.

I agree with the Hollywood Walk of Fame's decision. Reality "stars" are not actors. They are not directors. They are not producers. They have no talent, and are basically a bunch of ill-behaved spoiled brats showing the worst of humanity on a weekly basis. The walk of fame is full of names of people who made a positive contribution to the lives of millions via entertainment. Reality "stars" (and I hate to even use that term) do nothing more than provide people the opportunity to witness an ongoing train wreck.

To get a star on the Walk of Fame, one first must be nominated to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce via application process. Per their website" "When nominating an individual or group, the sponsor must submit a photo, a bio and the nominee’s qualifications as well as a list of contributions to the community and civic-oriented participation. A letter of agreement from the nominee or his/her management must be included with the application." It also costs $30k out of one's own pocket to get the star and ceremony on the Walk if selected.

Although there is no formal Policy and Procedures manual for obtaining a Star in hollywood and it's obvious Hollywood never imagined anyone getting a star without two important ingredients for star consideration:: Talent + success = recognition (actually that's three things). Reality T.V. is not about talent, but they are successful. That's why they should be considered more like an financial windfall producing financial gains for little money. They are definitely more "Business" than Show Business.

So, Reality stars should not worry or care about getting a star on Hollywood, they should only care to see themselves as an investment that's paying off until the next big reality "star"

As someone pointed out there ARE several undeserving people who have stars on the Walk of Fame. However I don't think that because of these unfortunate lapses in judgment that reality stars should be allowed to have them. I don't want to walk down the Boulevard and go "Hmmm...Burt Lancaster...John Wayne...Liz Taylor...James Dean....Elvis Presley...Snookie?" But I'll lay odds that reality "game show" personalities like Simon Cowell and Nigel Lithgoe will wind up on the Boulevard.

Walk of Fame stars are for ACTORS. They recognize exceptional ability to slip into another character's skin and evoke emotions from an audience in a work of fiction. While I recognize as well as anyone else that reality shows are mostly scripted, the participants aren't taking fictional or historical characters and doing the hard work of learning to bring that illusion to life. They're just portraying outsized versions of themselves.

If Pauly D wants a star, he needs to ACT. Also, as a footnote, just about no one in history has ever gotten a star with just one show's worth of work.

Unfortunately, that's not actually true. Several sports personalities have stars, like Magic Johnson and Mohammed Ali, musicians like Michael Jackson have a star, multiple stars were given out to non acting positions like to costume designers, special effects people and make-up, and multiple cartoon characters have stars, even though they can't honestly be considered actors. So is it fair to say the Jersey folks don't get one just cuz they're not actors? No, not really. Magic Johnson and Michael Jackson weren't actors. And is it fair to say the Jersey folks don't get one because they're not talented? Well, cartoon characters have no talent and they get one. So it's hard to make a call imo.

they shouldn't be able to have a star on the walk of fame if they are JUST a reality tv star. Now if they go on and make something of themselves in the entertainment business then I don't see why not. Pauly D, make it big DJ-ing and we'll get you a star 😉

I agree. Reality TV may become a stepping stone for legitimate talent to break into Hollywood, but that in and of itself is not reason enough to be awarded an honor like a step on the walk of fame.
I've never seen the show, and frankly am repulsed by much of reality TV, but I do realize the potential it carries to make individuals into psudo-stars in the eyes of the adoring public (If only to the same extent that someone with knowledge of a wed cam and any video editing free-ware can make a youtube video go viral) but this does not denote any actual effort or achievement on their part which the walk of fame is intended to recognize.

The stars are awarded to people with talent. What kind of talent is required to be yourself while a camera follows you around?
