NBC wants Gervais back for the Golden Globes

Back in January, Ricky Gervais made headlines when he hosted the Golden Globes, and proceeded to take shots at many of the Hollywood stars in attendance, not to mention the awards themselves.

Gervais went on record as saying that this second time hosting would be his last, but that doesn't mean he's not wanted by the network that put on the show.

Gervais told E! that NBC is interested in having him back for a third time as host, but he said, "I think the Hollywood Foreign Press would need an awful lot of persuading."

Indeed. The Foreign Press, who put on the Globes every year, responded back in February to Gervais suggesting that they were interested in having him back, by telling CNN, "There is no truth to this rumor. We have not asked him to come back. Nice try, Ricky."

On a personal level, Gervais is still hesitant to host the show again, saying that he's not sure a third time could improve on the second: "Never say never, though."

He must host again, and many more times, however, a year or two break may be advised, lest he get booed off the stage. He is, though the best host of all the award shows lately, 'cept for Billy Crystal in his prime.

Gervais' hosting of the Golden Globes last year was absolutely hilarious. The shots of Robert DeNiro and Halle Berry collapsing with uncontrollable laughter at Ricky's Hugh Hefner jokes tell the tale. Ricky is FUNNY!

You have got to be kidding? He should be blackballed from Hollywood. I wouldn't watch a second of it if he is on.

How could you honsetly think he is not funny without also stating you were born without a sense of humor. Lets us all remember he is behind one of the best sitcoms currently on TV...The Office.

Am I the only person who thought he was hysterical? I loved his honest, fiery barbs at the industry, the Foreign Press and the teflon celebrities who don't like to be made fun of...but the crazy things they do or get arrested for are facts...and they deserve to be laughed at for their behavior or really bad acting roles. BRING HIM BACK NBC...

I think he was fine. He just needs to shave down his 2 fangs. He told it like it is & the "stars' could not handle the heat.

The true fans understand?! What crap! These celebs need to be called out on their crap once in a while. If not their huge egos allow them to start believing their press releases!! Ricky did a great job! Besides, who provided him with all his material – the celebs did by their behavior!!! Hahahahahahahaha

Only a desperate person who craved attention would show up for an award expecting to be rediculed for any past mistake(s). How many people would endure this at work so they could earn money? The true fans understand and the people who enjoy this cannot be true fans. Lets see them filll 3 hours of showtime with no stars.

Anyone saying he was not funny 9 times out of 10 have another agenda. They must be too religious or too stupid to understand the jokes....

No, those people are just not mean spirited. You can have fun with someone without making fun of them. Billy Crystal was great at that and is still the best.

To the people posting on this board that say he wasn't funny, I wonder how boring it would be to hang out with you at a party or just any social event at all.

Ricky Gervais was the only treason to actually watch the Golden Globes. Why watch otherwise? Frankly, it's hilarious to watch those celebs squirm in their seats at the crack of a joke, wondering if they'll be next in the hot seat. He tells it like it is, truthfully. You might not like it, but that's your own problem. Get over it and have a laugh. Any other host wouldn't be worth it. It's the Golden Globes people; the only reason to watch is for a good, edgy host. The rest of the show is boring. Period.

Just call Bob Barker and Dolly Parton. Then call it a day! That's good for ratings and a laugh.

While I don't always love his humor, I do like that he made the Golden Globes interesting. The Oscars were so comparatively lame this year with weak hosts and following Gervais's biting humor.

He was just plain lousy. I can't imagine the Golden Globes wanting him back again. His club act isn't any better. Maybe he can get a gig on the Friars Club, but I wouldn't count on it. Sad!

I hope people don't think he'll tone it down if he comes back. If he does it again and you show up to the show you have lost your right to complain about being jabbed at. Get a sense of humor celebs and get over yourself.

I wish they would have him back. He was the best thing about the show. The poor H-wood stars couldn't take being made fun of, poor babies.
